[SOLVED] [Q] Cyanogenmod 7 Magpie for g1/Dream

Hi
I just installed Cyanogenmod 7 Magpie for g1/Dream.
But gapps are not here, and I tried a few version and it doesn't work.
Can someone point me to the right version of gapps?

What do you need specifically?
If you need GMail, GTalk, GMap, you can download that from the market. That is what I did.

I've had the same problem, just install magpie then install google apps. restart. then you will see you don't have them so you restart again and you should at least see books in your list.
Well, this is what I did

EzGb Gapps are working with cm7 magpie. Install the latest one (top of the last quote)

ok thanks I got the file and flashed it...then I can log in to my google account and download the gapps...but it just stopped in the middle of the downloading process, I see the desktop, empty, and can do nothing .
Is there a different .zip for EB1 (french Dream)?
There are two .zip for installing CM 7 Magpie in french, should I install the one whose name contains "obex"...I don't know what is obex?

It's odex, not obex, but no, you don't need that. You need the latest version of the rom: update-cm-7-20110727-Magpie-DS-signed.zip plus gapps from terry's thread, don't worry it contains french.
I assume that you assume FR means french but no, it means Firerat, so you installed a very old version of the rom.
Btw about the market install/download fails

Sometimes a market install fails complaing about space
usually a second attempt works
the pm command can start a soft reboot if the file argument you give it doesn't exist

Yes indeed I assumed FR meant French!
Ok but when I tried to install the the more recent .zip, I had the android.phone app crashing constantly, making the phone unusable.
edit: I reflashed the rom, and the gapps at the same time, it seems to work fine now.

Wipe properly, from fastboot! If you use ext, than format it. Everything should be okay.
I'm running it right now, since it's released. I didn't have a single problem with it, it's a lil slow compared to fbl, but it's working ok.

I didn't know it was better to wipe from fastboot.
I wiped from recovery, I flashed the rom and gapps immediately. Then I booted to rom, and it is ok.
Cyanogenmod 7 magpie seems to work fine, but, indeed, a little slower than froyobylaszlo. How froyobylaszlo was getting unusable for me because of the "damaged sd card" error, and made me loose a lot of data (and was not in french).

[Q] Gapps flashing error

Hi guys this issue has been in my wy for a while now but now ive decided to ask
. I run Aokp build 40 on my nexus s. I then install a gapps-ics2012*** file from goo.im and from a couple of other sites. Rom works beautifully as usual. But every single gapps i flashed after rom flash the install becomes successful, yet when i boot my phone the only gapps i c r google play,talk, and search. Nothing else. Please help me flash properly so ALL the gapps can show up (music, gmail, googlr plus, play books, maps etc.) Coz all i got now is google play and talk. I can dowbload them manually from play store but thats irritating n hacing a google phone is supposed to present u with pre installed gapps.

Nothing wrong here, that's how it's supposed to be. You always have to download Maps, Gmail etc via store. (They're not in the zip)
However, you can add them to the gapps-zip yourself: Download all the apps you need and then fetch the apk's from /data/app. Open the gapps-zip and there add them to /system/app. Next time you flash the zip, they'll be installed as sys-apps.
Only app this didn't work for me was Chrome, complained about something's missing. But since I don't use it anymore, I never cared to investigate.
Edit:
Should you make your own zip and there's an update of an app via store, the new apk will be placed in /data/app on your phone, overruling the one in /system. So to update the zip, get it, add it... Not exactly rocket science, right? ^^

Do you mean when you have to touch the Android?
That can be fixed by touching the 4 corners of the screen!

yeah I think in jb all gapps are included
@bony we need more info, Rom and gapps version, things like that. Also, if the Rom wasn't properly signed, then gapps won't work.

Any app that is available in the market is not included in the zip.
That's the way it is and there is no issue.

Where to begin with a p5113 roms etc.?

My end goal is to be running an OS that can get me to eventually run youtube netflix etc on the device.
What's the latest android version and or rom that should be installed? After some reading Lineage OS may be the thing I'm looking for.
But with so many versions of each thing, it's difficult to find something concise.
I'm of course a noob.

Depends on what you want to use it for. Would not recommend installing Google Apps because it turns the tablet into a laggy mess. The latest android version right now is Oreo with only 1 rom that is not even close to be usable as a daily driver. So Marshmellow and Nougat is the way to go. And compared to some thing like the Grand Prime the Tab 2 has a tiny amount of versions. You will probably find something that works in Unified. I don't know if Netflix runs without gapps but you can install YouTube vanced no ads and works with out gapps. I use Orion OS

Thanks for the reply. I got as far as rooting the device. Stuck on installing lineage OS Via Phil (made thread) I will give Orion a shot when I get home. Hopefully it's simply that the lineage I'm downloading was not compatible and not an issue with the tablet.

I tried to install Orion OS
I chose Wipe the cache partition and then chose clean to install a new ROM, then loaded the ZIP
It's the closest I've gotten to installing a custom ROM
OrionOS system files verified
Flashing SuperSU
unmount of /system failed: no such volume
script succeded result was []
install from sd complete
press any key to continue
I then reboot and get taken back to phil, i reboot a second time and there was an orion logo, but it just stayed on a gif of planets after that
maybe i did something wrong along the way
or should i wait more than 10min? (orion page says it does it in 4)

Solved it... somehow
I installed twrp instead of phil
Got the same exact errors though.
I rebooted like three times, then went to go get lunch for half hour (~35) and orion was installed.
My initial goal is reached, but the tablet may not be optimal for on the go use. I'll have to test some x265 x264 mkv video files and see how well they run.
Question:
Security wise, I don't have to do anything else?
I heard that since it allows installing from unknown sources it can theoretically be hacked.

Don't do anything else. Unless you download an apk of an unknown app from browser or anywhere else and install it, there is no risk at all.

If you have not installed GAPPs, the rom will be fast. Installing GAPPs will make the device a bit slow.

Security isnt a problem unless you install some weird apks or crap like that. Dont install gapps and it will be fast netflix may not work but there are some alternatives to yt. Gapps just make it lag. I heard that Nougat works better with gapps but idk. Also use TWRP it should work with everything.
That error happened to me too but its not really an error
If you wont use gapps here are some alternative apps
Aurora Store (play store)
Newpipe & Youtube Vanced (yt)
Kiwi Browser (chrome)

Disabled animation to make it more snappy.
I think that's all that can be done.
The reason I asked was because of prior posts saying that SuperSU was necessary, but I think it's already installed as it has been asking permission to install on a few things. My worry was things (apks?) auto installing if I went on browser.

Help..White settings screen after gapps installation

On a tablet Samsung Galaxy tab 2 10.1 (3G) I installed Lineage OS 14.1, then after I installed the PICO Gapps I realized that the settings screen of the tablet was completely white without any writing .. At this point I tried to reflash from TWRP Lineage but it gave me an error, I then tried to do a factory reset wipe but the automatic startup configuration of lineage crashed, I then tried to make a format given by TWRP and this once android started but I found the gapps and the white screen on settings, how should I do so that I cleanly install the rom in order to solve the problem of the white screen in settings, then trying to install the gapps avoiding that it recurs the white screen problem in settings? Thanks a lot to those who want to help me, I don't know how to solve it.

I tried to do an advance wipe (Davilk, System, Cache, data and internal storage) and then I made a format data, doing so I flashed the rom correctly without errors, immediately after I also installed the pico gapps, thinking that maybe installing them at the same time as the rom that problem of the white screen on settings would not have arisen, while instead nothing has changed unfortunately .. so now I wanted to reflect the rom and try to solve differently with the gapps, but it always gives me error 7 as you can see from screen, the first time it worked facendadvance wipe and formed date now even doing this I always get this error ... the strange thing is that it worked before and now it doesn't ... someone can help me to solve it please?

update, after many tests in the end I managed to flash the rom, there is no explanation, simply trying and trying again it decided to work .. now I have not installed the gapps and the android settings screen I see it correctly ... now what I ask you how can I install the gapps so that I do not create this problem of the white screen in settings? I don't care who knows what google works, I just need the play store I downloaded the PICO gapps from directly from the gapp site by choosing ARM + 7.1 + PICO As you can imagine I would like to avoid finding myself with the same problem again since it is not easy to solve, I am not an expert, so I rely on you .. Use SD card for installation los zip. And download it again, if you'll still get same error than change TWRP version.

yes I used the sd card to install the rom, I just made a post a few seconds before you wrote saying that you have solved the installation of the rom. Actually I downloaded the rom again, but I don't think this is the cause since a few minutes before the installation of the rom had worked ... then I also tried to transfer the rom file back from the pc to the microsd and it always did not work, as soon as the 'i downloaded again it worked..so i guess it was a coincidence ... Now as I said in the previous post to yours, the problem is how to install the gapps or in any case, even just the play store is okay with me ... I would like to avoid the problem of the white screen in android settings that I had by installing the PICO gapps recur again ... anyway I wrote everything in detail in the previous post ... I hope someone can help me. Thanks

My bee it's gapps bug, this is not the first time to happening this.
I don't use gapps at all, specially not on that prehistoric device. It's laggy and pretty much slow and useless.. I advice you to check AuroraStore (FOSS Google play) on xda forum or install f-droid and search it there.

so the white screen on settings is a problem that has already happened to others with the installation of gapps, the strange thing is that I have seen on tyoutube others who have installed it without problems having the same device .. however if there are alternatives I can do without it.
I installed Aurora store 4.1.1, in the installation procedure I left the checkmarks that were by default and I always went ahead .. right? I did a bit of research to test this new app since I didn't know it .. and I saw that it has everything, but maybe not everything that the play store has, for example the YAP app (by nexi payment) it is not there, while for example on aptoide it is found .. why? From what I understood Aurora store should have all the apps from the play store so it is strange that there is not this one too.

Can't get Gapps to work on Nexus 5, with Lineage 14.1

I have a Nexus 5 phone that I would like to have Lineage (lineage-14.1-20190126-nightly-hammerhead-signed.zip) and Gaps (open_gapps-arm-7.1-nano-20220215.zip) installed so that I can use the playstore as needed.
I have tried to follow the instructions on the lineage website to the letter. I wipe, then install lineage, then (before rebooting) I install gapps. That's where I get the error 70 message that there is not enough room on the system partition for gapps to install. I've selected the nano version of gapps (smallest), and I have over 12G of internal storage free.
I've tried this several times, and I always hit the Error 70 when I try to install gapps.
I'd like to get gapps to work, but I would settle for finding some way to sideload or otherwise load Google Play store. I tried installing it as an apk, but apparently it has dependencies (unknown) so I couldn't get it to work - standalone.
Do I have to format the system partition? Resize the partition? Something else?
I hope there is a simple answer to this. All I really want for Xmas, is to get Lineage with playstore working.

Nano isn't the smallest Gapps package; pico is. Try that, and see if it works.
Side note: The ROM you' re using seems old... If you want to use LOS 14.1, why don't you have a look at the unofficial builds by @razorloves. He has done great work by providing new builds from time to time, with more recent security patches, even though LOS 14.1 is no longer maintained.

Answer is use a gapps.config.txt file to control what gapps get loaded. Worked for me. Case closed!
