PingChat 2 has been officially out for iPhone, Blackberry and Android for a while now. It's free and ad-supported I think (not sure).
Who have been using it? I'm currently on WhatsApp, but it's kind hard to convert friends to that as it's a paid app.
Here's a more official post:
PingChat! 2 now available for Android, Blackberry, iPhone, iPod and iPad

One of the big advantages of whatsapp is that people subscribe with their phonenumber, so you immediately see everbody who has whatsapp. This is really a problem with pingchat, yes it free, but why would people use this?
I have tried to pursuade some people but the most common thing you'll hear is this:
"But all my friends have whatsapp."
Personally I really like pingchat, very nice layout, easy to use and best of all, FREE. Although i'm using whatsapp beta for free now as well. I'm still trying to get people over to pingchat.

That seems the most problematic thing for me as well...
I won't use it until pingchat allows multi login.
I've been using it with friends. It's been great, but what would be awesome would be the ability to add a user to an already in progress group chat. I have a forum of people who all follow a sports team, and we've been using it to discuss team news and happenings. Every time someone new joins, i have to close the current chat and reinvite 20 people into a new chat.
Can I know can HTC Touch HD (Blackstone) use pingchat.. is there any link to download if is useable..been searching alot of site but can find any..

The Touch HD uses Windows Mobile.
PingChat is only for Android, Blackberry and iPhone.
Hi everyone!
I'm writing to introduce "droplat," a new app available in the Android Market and V CAST App Store.
droplat is a location-based file sharing service that enables people to share files with others nearby. Users "check in" at a location to see the files that people are sharing. You can also leave files at a physical location for up to 2 weeks in a "Fog" that's visible to anyone that checks into the area. It provides a great way to transform real-life experiences, like concerts, sporting events, and so much more.
Check out our quick intro video on YouTube, "Meet droplat - Big Concert"
(sorry, it won't let me post a direct link...but you can find it by searching for droplat on the YouTube site)
droplat is currently a finalist in Verizon's "V CAST Apps: Power Your Apps Contest," where we are going head-to-head with 4 other apps for the grand prize. If you have access to the V CAST App Store, please consider voting for droplat in this contest!
If you're the early-adopter type, and can stomach a few bugs, we'd love to have you as part of the founding members.
All feedback welcome! Thanks for your time,
- droplat team
Just testing the application as i like the idea.
Stil a lot fo unexpeccted errors coming up. As in uploading something but getting an error or even by searching for fogs.
Altho i know this is even Alfa
Heh pretty funny i was just looking at this APP on the market looked pretty interesting.

Looks like the development for this app has gone quiet.
Can't create an account, can't link to facebook - it just gives error messages saying it can't connect.
Little help?
Thanks

Hi all, I'm a Singaporean developer and I'm here to tell you that I'm sick of idiots posting/bragging their daily life on Facebook, I mean, if you want to do that, why not do it so that I can ACTUALLY use that information next time? Thankfully, I'm a developer and I can actually do something about it.
WHAT IF, those stupid FOOD pictures taken at the restaurant actually POP UP the next time I am hungry and near that area? WHAT IF those slutty clubbing pictures could actually help me pick a club when I want to go? So here's my solution.
Spawt is a location-based experience bookmarking service so now you could actually point those idiots to the app and actually end up building a beautiful scrapbook of experiences that you and your friends can mutually share and discover.
Features
- Bookmark a great experience by creating a Checkpoint.
- Contextually discover interesting experiences from fellow Spawtters based on your current location.
* Spawt believes that your friends' experiences matter more, so your Facebook friends' Checkpoints will be treated as first class citizens.
- Builds a catalog of Checkpoints that will serve as a scrapbook of experiences for when you need an inspiration on what to do next.
- No need to create a whole new social network, leverages your existing Facebook network.
* Note, we send NOTHING back to Facebook, your privacy is MY topmost concern. (I should know, I'm a Facebook cynic.)
Download the app and tell me what you make of it, and most importantly how I can go on making it better for you and your friends. Search for "Spawt Beta" or get it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5jdHJsZWZmIl0.
PS: Oh did I mention Galaxy S2 kicks ass?
PSS: Oh also, if the app does crash, and it will, please click Report so I can fix it so you can swear a little bit less when the next update comes.
nice
great idea, am going to test that
thanks kuroshn, tell me what you make of it
I Like it because you call Facebook users Idiots...

Original post:
Hello XDA members,
My name is Anh and I am part of a mobile startup company, Shoelace Wireless. I have been around the XDA forums for a while and decided this community would be a great place to share our new project as a Private Beta.
VideoBee is a showcase app for a networking technology we developed that enables a user to make use of cellular, WiFi, and Bluetooth connections simultaneously in order to stream videos faster.
Features include:
Solo mode (one device): VideoBee essentially provides Samsung Galaxy S5 Download Booster for videos but not limited to just Galaxy S5 or LTE. It uses both WiFi and cellular networks at the same time (instead of switching between them) to increase your speed. No more stalling!
Group mode (two devices): this mode allows you to create a group and connect two nearby devices through Bluetooth. It then combines the bandwidth from both devices to stream the video faster. You can watch the same video on both devices or just on one of them (and use the second screen for statistics). During Beta, group mode is limited to two devices.
Sites supported
Video streaming: VideoBee currently helps you to stream your favorite videos from YouTube, Yahoo Screen, Vimeo, Metacafe, Dailymotion, as well as live channels from Ustream (Android 4.0+), using their familiar web interfaces. (Due to Yahoo Screen and Dailymotion restrictions, some videos may not support Solo Mode: WiFi + cellular.)
Video download: VideoBee now supports download of videos from Yahoo Screen, Vimeo, Dailymotion, and Metacafe, at high speed in Solo mode or Group mode.
VideoBee does NOT require root and works on 99% of Android devices (2.3.3+)
We are planning on adding more features, but for now we are debugging and working out any issues we currently have in the app. We are seeking your feedback and thoughts on the technology, any bugs you may find, and also any suggestions for improvements or new features you would like us to implement. Please give us your feedback using the in-app Feedback button, or in this thread, or send your thoughts to [email protected].
Thank you all so much for making XDA the community that it is!
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):
- Q: Why does it stop buffering after a while?
A: VideoBee currently only pre-fetches 30MB of the currently playing video. When the video progresses, it will fetch more.

Question
How exactly does the dual network streaming (Data+WiFi) work from a technical standpoint?
AFAIK I thought this was near impossible other than using wifi and downloading an mms (at least in my experiences), and also that same "feature" was touted in the iPhone 5s as being able to simultaneously draw data from both at the same time.
@ShoelaceWireless,
Thank you for the app. Is there any way you could upload the apk to your OP? Reason being is that many people have no access to google apps (and many simply choose not to use them at all).
Thank you.
Edit: just signed up for the beta as well.
Hi all, I just sent out another batch of invitation. Please let me know how the app works for you.
There is one of you with email starting with "bluebo.." gave an invalid email. Please resend me the correct email for the invitation.

@Arthemedus: iPhone 5s has "MultiPath TCP" experimentally implemented just for Siri, and the second path is used as just a backup path at the moment. Reliable source on this topic can be found here: http://mptcp.info.ucl.ac.be/. I can't disclose how VideoBee does it as we have some patents pending.

@egzthunder1: Thanks for signing up! For this private beta stage, we would like to limit the number of installations (simply to be able to fix bugs before they spread out too much). For this reason, I prefer not to post the apk publicly. I'll consider it when VideoBee goes Open Beta.

Fair enough answer, but by having posted it in the Play store, you will get a metric ton of installations anyways. I alone installed it in 2 separate devices already....

There are many apps on Google Play to make free calls.
But near to none of them are ad-free or do have a beautiful design (even not Material).
So let me introduce you to CallingMe!
CallingMe is based on RedPhone by OpenWhisperSystems, but I modified the design in a Material-compliant way, still supporting Android 2.3 and later.
CallingMe made 1.000 downloads last week.
CallingMe is compatible to Signal by OpenWhisperSystems on iOS.
As I'm new to XDA, I can't post a direct link to CallingMe on Google Play. But as it is the first place in the search when you search for "CallingMe", you won't have any problems finding it.
which countries are supported for free calls?
Sent from Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005
As of all, a CallingMe user phones an other CallingMe user, so there are no restrictions about the country. Just make sure the person you want to call does also have CallingMe.
CallingMe is compatible to Signal by OpenWhisperSystems on iOS BTW.
