PE-TL10 Update dated 8th July on EMUI Site - Honor 6, 6 Plus Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just got my 6 Plus a couple of days ago, and as a permanent tinkerer with all my Android devices I've been looking into rooting etc.
In my searching about, I notice the PE-TL10 has a software update dated 8th July on the EMUI site available for download. Anyone any idea what the deal is with this? Will it be pushed out automatically or does it have to be manual? Or am I just way off on all fronts. My first Huawei/Honor so learning another new device process for tinkering.

It doesn't install for me. Upgrade failed.

It did, however, mess up my settings somewhat. Like lockscreen/theme stuff. Nothing important, and it didn't actually break anything.
I think it got to about 2 or 3% before it aborted.

Very odd. So what is it for then? Given it is 'stable' apparently.

I don't know. Maybe it's carrier specific.
BTW I tried, with the the same results, for the development version.

[Q] My Nexus S can't be upgraded to 2.3.3

Device: Nexus S
Carrier: T-mobile
Country / Language: The U.S.
OS / Browser / build number (if applicable): 2.3.2
Hello, my cell phone is Nexus S.
The Android version is 2.3.2 now. I want to upgrade to 2.3.3.
However, when I click 'System updates' button in my Nexus S, it says 'Your system is currently up to date.'
Recently, I reset my Nexus S. How can I fix this problem?
Do I have to upgrade manually? I wanna upgrade in my cell phone..
I'm still waiting for the OTA too so I guess they ended the distribution. Who knows
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Eventually google will flag your IMEI to receive the update. Theres no telling when you'll be receiving the update or if they're still actively pushing it out. If you don't want to wait then you could manually update by downloading the rom file from the xda thread and flashing it yourself. Otherwise, its the waiting game.

There is a report that the OTA isnt going through. Not sure why, just manually flash it. It's the same as a OTA.
be aware that a LOT of people are complaining about the color correction on the 2.3.3 update....read up on it first, before doing the update
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=971987
I personally don't mind, but a LOT of people do.
Dont keep waiting for the OTA. Manually update your phone.
I dont believe Google would take so long for the OTA...it is not that everyone born in the world have 2-3 Nexus S each that it takes forever for the OTA to come through...I wonder if they have stopped the OTAs so go ahead and do it manually...
There would be a minor hiccup on how the screen looks after the update...I didnt have a major heartbreaking screen after updating.
CAUTION: Check your version before you update

Can't Update! No Firmware Version In Kies??

Hello! I restored my Tab 7 plus using ODIN and the P6210XXKL2_OXEKK1_16G firmware found in the development forum thread, but now Kies does not see any firmware version? Is there any way I can fix this, so I can push updates via Kies? Thanks in advance!
Under "About device" it shows Build Number HTJ85B P6210XXKL2 and Kernel version 2.6.36-P6210XXKL2-CL583761 [email protected] #3
Also, I updated to the latest version of KIES, but still nothing.
# days ago updated the firmware and "killed most of my apps.
Somehow the update while connected to my PC, when finished, most of my apps stopped working ( force to close). Had to reinstall them all.
I have the same problem except for im on kk3... Not sure if thats the most recent but it was the only stock firmware i could find with a working download link.
Sent from my GT-P6210 using xda premium
Yeah, this is a serious bummer. Anyone know what the most recent firmware version is?
Anything new on this matter? I'm in this position also now...
Edit found the password to the US retail one.
I believe the "LA3" is the most recent update

Yes I realize that now. I managed to download the US retail firmware package in the dev section finally. Took me a little while to find the password for it to decrypt it though... But all is good now!
Hi, SGT newbie here...
I believe I may be in the same boat here, I bought a "manufacturer refurbished" GT-P6210 off ebay and later discovered from Samsung Support that they don't do refurbishments.
The device works fine but the main reason I got it was to run it with ICS, and of course the firmware version is not recognised in Kies.
For what it's worth...
Kernel version: 2.6.36-P6210UEKJC-CL567728
Build number: HTJ85B.UEKJC P6210UEKJC
May I ask the assembled masses here what the best way forward here is? My guess would be to learn how to root the device and then put an ICS update on that is released from this very forum?
Cheers!
David
no ICS yet, hang tight should be ny the ned of the month/start of April.. we are all hoping.
yeah, best bet would be get Odin (for windows) or Heimdall ( Linux & Mac )
find latest firmware either in development thread or sammobile.com, follow instructions and flash.
Aha... I tried the Samsung US Support live chat thing, I assumed they wouldn't mind a poor Englishman in London talking to them.
It turns out that you don't need Kies at all, they will push the updates out "OTA" if one is connected to a network via Wifi.
Do you know it took me nearly two minutes to work out that OTAS mean Over The Air ?
They said "in a month or two" for the GT-P6210 though, bummer.
I assume that the ROMs and stuff in these hallowed forums are kind of like what you do when you buy an off-the-shelf PC, ie: you spend the next day stripping all the crap out and then making a nice clean and optimised ghost image for future deployment? Or am I barking not only up the wrong tree but am in the wrong forest too?

Yep, most rom developers strip the bloatware from the firmware and put in all kinds of optimization.

Hi Zadeis, Please I would like to get the link for the US Retail Version because this is affecting me as well. I bought my Galaxy Tab Plus 7.0 (Wifi Only) off Amazon in a very good working condition, however I tampered with it and had to re-install it with the P6210XXKL2_OXEKK1_16G version. Now Kies doesn't show my firmware version and I can't perform any update.
I would like to get the link for the US Retails version as well as the password you that mentioned.
I also want to backup my tab before re-installing it. will it backup all my current configurations, apps, settings, files and the like?
Please reply ASAP.
Thanks.

Just flash the sbf files and don't bother with an OTA? Just sayin... If you want it that bad.

I am glad I didn't participate in this soak nor get the update. It's causing a lot of problems.
Honestly I think what we have here is possibly an influx of users coming from devices like the galaxy nexus that were easier to modify. Lots of one click tools. This whole rock my moto thing for rooting 4.2.2 looked intimidating. Glad I was able to keep root with pwnmymoto.
I do think it's kinda funny. I had jelly bean and Google now since August 2012. Everyone of my friends this spring kept trying to show me the new features. I'm like Ahh they're not new! Alas my payback has arrived. My ppl with gs4s are all like kit kat neener neener. Least I can be all like verizon grandfathered unlimited data neener neener!
I wonder if the day will come when sbfs can be released earlier and more available?
How are these people who manually updated and bricked their phones getting replacements? Must be bc of the non rooted folks who bricked just by simply updating. Either way I'm glad it's covered.

If you're attempting to flash the update manually you must do so twice. The first pass will update the bootloader and recovery perhaps a couple other smaller things. Regardless the main update is the second pass through. If you haven't applied the update twice from your SD Memory you can likely repair it yourself. Worst case just run the 4.4 sbf...

Not able to update my nexus 5 to KitKat 4.4.4 using OTA

I saw on the Internet that KitKat 4.4.4 with security bug fixes has been launched only for nexus 5 through OTA but when I check for updates, the phone says your system is up to date. I'm running stock android 4.4.3 unrooted. Why is this happening? Any help regarding this?
P.S. - I don't want to update using factory images. Only using OTA. Want to know why my phone is unable to get the update.

Don't worry. I've not received it either. Google sucks with updates and gives absolutely no change log or support. Apple walks all over them in this area. I've read it may take two to three weeks for everyone to get it.

and thats why on update day at apple it takes 12+ hrs for the update to download because their servers are hammered.
pick your poison.
I'd definitely take the staged rollout. No question. Then again, I never wait for an ota. There are plenty of other options available if you're not patient enough to wait. Even waiting for the ota, you'll still get the update before most other devices. Some won't get it at all. Wait, or go a different route. Simple.

I don't understand why people who are so desperate for the update don't just install a custom recovery and flash the zip.
Or just adb sideload like a savage.

Build blankflash since April or Superior??

Given that we are many who suffer from the hard brick since the April patch I hope someone with the knowledge and skills can help us with their help to build blankflash or show us how it is done because learning is always good.
Bootloader Versions:
In marshmallow 6.0.1 until Noviembre: VC 0.14
In Nougat 7.0 Febrery : C 1.05
In Nougat 7.0 March : C 1.06
In Nougat 7.0 April : C 1.07
I think this can serve:

I read that but let me get this straight. You can brick it for restarting the bootloader and not the phone? Or is there a problem changing bootloader versions from MM to N?
Sent from my XT1635-02 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Well, what I did was on the latest (April) nougat version. Tried to factory reset and relock bootloader, which didn't work. So I reloaded the last downloadable factory unsigned rom, and after it all installed it restarted and didn't come back on. Only the led flash.. So now.. Here I am.. Waiting for the damn blankflash from the April release or maybe even the 7.1.1 blankflash to surface. ?
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
I hard bricked my Moto X2 last year which led me to buy the MZP, and I'm still waiting for the [email protected] blank flash.... Lenovo will never "release" them I'm afraid.
Damn. That sucks. Now I'm afraid of flashing full factory images. I just flashed the April security patch and then upgraded to 7.1.1 through sideload. I guess I'll just make a backup and not try to downgrade using full images.
Sent from my XT1635-02 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Factory resetting is safe as long as you don't flash (downgrade) gpt and bootloader. I learned that the hard way. I always skip those commands which are usually the first two.
Let me tell you my issues and how i solved them.
I was on stock and had updated to April's patch. Then I moved to LOS. After some weeks I wnet back to stock 7.0, which comes with January's patch if I am not mistaken.
After flashing it, I could get to the system normally, but kept getting a "bad key" message on boot and always boot first to booloader, than I had to press "Start" to go to system.
Well, when I tried to sideload 7.1.1 I couldn't. It kept failing on the verification step. What I did (and it worked) was to flash the stock ROM again, but direclty with April's patch. Here:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=961840155545567726
Then, after that I could sideload 7.1.1 and it is everything ok now. The only thing is the "bad key" warning on boot, but it ends up booting direclty to system as it should.
Hope it helps.

It's not the same issue, but thanks anyway.
What if I downgraded from N + January to Marshmallow, then OTA'd to N + February, then the March patch afterwards? I haven't gotten the April patch yet. Will I be okay to install the OTA once it hits my carrier? I don't plan on downgrading, but I'm wondering if I'll be bricked just by installing the April update alone. From what I've read it only happens when downgrading after having the April patch installed, but I just want to be sure.
If your have an updated bootloader and down grade and the receive the ota or flash firmware you will end up hard bricked phone.
The only safe way to downgrade is bye having a unlocked bootloader and flash TWRP flashable zips.
Never mess with bootloader's on Moto devices cause eventually you'll end up bricked
