Sprint S5 on Boost? - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

GF had the LG Volt on Boost and loved it. Unfortunately it died, and Bestbuy didn't have any to replace it with. She now has the Moto E and hates it. I have an S5 from a business (shouldn't be locked in any way). How do I go about making my lady happy again by moving everything over to an S5?
TIA!

Just did this with an S4. Here is what i had to do. First of all S4 was bought on line and associated with some strangers account. went to sprint store made the S4 my phone
for about a minute so i could get the MSL. Since this was a phone not under your contract you will probably need to do the same. Once you have the MSL just take the phone to Boost Store they will port it to their service. Make sure you have a sim card for LTE my store did not have any and the last one they ordered took about a week to get they said.
You did not say what carrier the S5 was on so this is only good for the Sprint variant

[Q] How to flash/change carriers with Fascinate

Hey Guys,
Back Story (don't really have to read if you want to skip)
I was at the bar with some coworkers and a new guy I work with was talking about how he had bought a Samsung Fascinate from a friend of his that had gotten his account frozen (it was on Verizon Wireless). The coworker wanted to transfer it over to Cricket Wireless (it is a crappy carrier in my area if you haven't heard of it) but they told him that they could do it but that he wouldn't get MMS. He ended up just buying a new one from Cricket and offered to sell me the one he could use for 50 bucks (it is like new in a box with everything) and told me if I couldn't do anything with it he would buy it back. This was kinda a win/win no brainer for me so of course I took him up on the offer.
He also did say that he could not get Verizon to activate it because there was a hold on the account that the phone currently belonged to.
The phone obviously will not work for me because I am on Sprint but from what I understand is that it is pretty much the same phone as the Captivate on AT&T. My dad uses AT&T for his carrier and has an iPhone but hates it and wants to go to an Android phone.
The questions:
1. Can I get the Samsung Fascinate from Verizon Wireless to work with AT&T?
2. Can I somehow remove whatever information that has linked this phone to being locked on Verizon so that I could sell it or activate it on another Verizon account if I want to sell it or give it to someone who does have Verizon?
3. Are there any other good options that I can do with this if neither of these will work?
I have no issues with rooting/flashing/messing with whatever is on this phone. I am a flashaholic on my Evo 4g and know that Samsung is a bit different then HTC when it comes to this type of thing but should have no issues figuring out the difference as far as rooting and such from other posts on this site. I just did not see anywhere that this question was already asked and know this is the absolute best place to come to get the correct answers for questions like these.
Thank you for any help you can give!!!
Does anyone have any ideas? Sorry for the bump but its been 2 days now and I am trying to figure out what to do. Thanks!

[Q] How to activate on Sprint?

I am switching from AT&T to Sprint and I just purchased the Unlocked Nexus 5 on Google Play. What exactly do I have to do in order to activate my phone on the Sprint Network? I am used to just popping my SIM card into the new phone and it works but I know Sprint is a CDMA network and does not use SIM cards.
1. How do I get the phone activated on Sprint
2. Will it run just as good on Sprint as it would on AT&T? It will still work with LTE right?

Sprint does not have a byod line as far as I know unless you are going prepaid. Nobody knows yet if any of the mvnos will activate the nexus 5. You could always get an Iphone or something on your new line and sell it to cover your nexus cost and then some.
For a new line it would be much easier just to buy from sprint for $49.
Coverage/LTE will depend on your area but yes it will work.

According to this page the Unlocked version will work on Sprint:
http://www.ibtimes.com/nexus-5-release-date-unlocked-model-will-run-sprint-network-1452872
I probably will get an iPhone or something just to sell it since I will be able to get a new phone on contract pricing but I still need to know how to actually activate my Nexus when I get it. I was thinking about getting the $50 Nexus through Sprint but I am afraid if I do that I it will not be the exact same model. I don't want any Sprint bloatware on my phone and I don't want to get updates later than the rest. I also want to make sure the phone I get is heavily supported by developers. There is just too many unknowns on the Sprint model that I am scared to get it.
So anyway, do I just call Sprint to activate my device?

There is no 'sprint' model they are the same device. So to activate you will need to get a sim card from sprint and then you can either chat, call, use the online activation or go to the store to get set up.

How do you get a sim without going to a store? I see no where online to order one.

To get a SIM, either go into the Sprint store. Or go online to the chat (you'll need an existing Sprint acct for this).
To activate, just call the big S and give them the info that they ask for
There's a thread going about this already that has some good info:

So there is nothing different? No sprint bloatware? And is it unlocked?

Correct. There's one APK that all of the phones have though. Sprint Hidden Menu. I wouldn't consider it bloatware though.

Sorry but just to be clear, Sprint will sell an unlocked phone? Has that ever been done before? Do you have a source? Not to discredit you but it seems that I should just buy it from Sprint instead of Google Play if there is no real differences. I just want to be sure.

I don't have a source atm, but that's all I've heard around the forums. You need to start a 2 year contract to get the phone at their low price though ($50 I think?). They're selling an off-contract one for $400 too. Same device all around.

So is it the sim card that creatures this apk? Because if you order it from the play store it obviously will not come with that apk.

This is the first time they have ever done it. This also means that the phone will be updated directly by google, with no carrier approvals/delays- which is also unprecedented for CDMA.
I myself am very surprised more people are not talking about this.
I stopped at a Sprint store today and asked about activating a phone bought from Google directly and they said it couldn't be done? Is that the case? I have about 5 months remaining on my contract with Sprint before I go on to another carrier.

It's been confirmed that you can activate this phone on Sprint. The guys at the store didn't know what they were talking about.

Yeah it seems like this would be big news. Its also the first sprint tri band phone to be released unless you count the few sprint g2s out in the wild.

Good deal. Will order a SIM tomorrow. So 1 device, all 3 carriers? Perfect.
Tried chat last night, and then calling in today but getting the run around. Was told I had to go corporate repair store; called store and was told that they don't normally stock SIM cards and that they won't have a N5 compatible one for a while until there shipment of phones comes in. I have sero account but this is the first time it has been an issue getting service.

AT&T LG V10 on Cricket

Hi,
Just curious if the AT&T Lg v10 would work on cricket? I have been buying factory unlocked phones for the past year and half so am a bit out of loop. I know older att phone models worked on cricket but I did see a few cases of it not working in the newer threads online. Just want to check before getting it.
Thanks

You can buy a locked AT&T V10 and use it on Cricket (owned by AT&T). It does not need to be unlocked. Same applies for any AT&T MNVO too. In theory, but it seems youve found people posting that for them their phones haven't worked...

Thanks man. I know in theory it should work just a bit hesitant since ATT has been having a lot of new restrictions with new android phones like bootloader lock.

All carriers used to be boot loader locked. That's not new. And as far as AT&T and T-Mobile they welcome each others phones, they like stealing each others customers.
Verizon phone cricket service
Wanted to share I bought a Verizon v10 off eBay (they come unlocked out of the box) took it to cricket, tweaked a few settings and it's worked perfectly for three weeks now.
Im using my v10 on Cricket right now and it works well! Just wont get any updates unless you use an att active sim card.
My v10 is from AT&T and I currently use it on cricket.
My GF's v10 is from Verizon, and she also uses it on cricket. She just had to set the apn.
I use my locked ATT V10 on crickets network. The only real issue is so far it can't update to MM since I'm not a ATT customer.
Bought an lgv10 Unlocked Verizon currently on cricket but won't get any service every time I try to turn my data on it says to contact customer service I don't know what to do please help

do you have the APN settings correct? if not, enter the correct APN, enable it, then restart your phone. it should work.
you can just slip in the sim card and hope it works. find your APN settings...

Flash samsung galaxy s5 sm g900p to boost?

hello all,
I'm by far no expert , I however have used Odin a few times & run MOAR on my phone successfully, so I'm not a complete noob.
I have bought a used g900p from ebay as well as the sim card for LTE, checked it out & it is clean.
now I just need a guide to flash it over to use it on boost.
I know there are several services out there that offer this for 50-100 bucks , but I'm confident I can do it myself with a little guidance.
can anyone help me out?
Try to call boost and see 8f they can walk you through the process of activating it on boost. If they cant help you, you can take it to an official boost store and they can do it for free. When i had mine done they even gave me the sims card at no charge.
I did a little homework before I even ordered it.. I also ordered a new sim card that would allow it to run on LTE.
The boost store & the coustomer service line both told me multiple times that the phone was incomparable which I knew was complete bull.
I finally called a store in another state that advertised the service on youtube.
They wanted 50 bucks, but I talked them into doing it for 20.
I probably spent too much on this project,, but at least now I have gotten everything up & running with a sweet s5 on boost for under 200.
Thanks for the help
If its the sprint s5 then you were lied to , because I bought a used Sprint s5 from Bestbuy and took it to a local boost store and he activated it on boost for free. He did have to call boost up and get them to do something also but once I got the phone back it was on boost and had all the boost bloat on it also including bootscreens. The Sprint s5 is listed on the boost site as one of the devices that can be switched over.

Looking for a new Sprint phone.

I'm looking for a new Sprint phone. I'm not going to do the leasing program. I want to purchase a phone out right. However 99% of unlocked phones will only work on GSM networks. The only phone that I know of that will work on cdma network that I can buy that would work on Sprint as well is the Moto G5 plus. Which I've heard is a pretty good phone. My question is does anyone know of any other phone that I can buy that's fully unlocked that would work on the Sprint network? I'm currently using the Samsung galaxy S6 which is over 2 years old and the battery is horrible, and the touch screen is going as well. Thanks for all the help.
