But here is the links translated from Chinese to English via google translate, for the wm 6.1 upgrade for the moto Q8.
This first link are the download page for the files needed, the zip file includes: the driver update for the Moto Q8, the RSD Lite 4.1, and the actual rom for the moto q8 (its an sbf file which is Motorola specific I believe) When you go to the link, scroll down a little and click the little orange tab that says "Local Download", then another window will open up, click on the mirror you want to use.

This second link is the guide on how to do the flash and new rom installation:
http://66.102.9.104/translate_c?hl=...indows+mobile+6.1+moto+q8&start=60&hl=en&sa=N
To be honest I tried to flash it using RSD Lite 4.1 but it just said Flash Failed and could not do anything and I was too scared to keep trying out of fear of bricking my phone, but thought maybe someone here would have the guts to go through with it and update us.
WARNING: I did not write any of these links, and will not be responsible for any damages that could occur to your phone if you follow them. This upgrade could very well brick your phone, so please attempt at your own risk.
Just thought it would be interesting to share!
Take care all!
Oh P.S. I think this upgrade will download the software as default chinese and you have to go into the settings and change the language to English.
I have a Moto Q CDMA (wm5 )will this work on my mobile phone?
My guess is no it wouldn't work, but to be honest I have no idea for sure.
I still haven't even tried it on my Q8 yet. My best friend is a manager at Motorola here, may take it to him and see if he can do it at his office.
Anyone try it out?
Hey has anyone tried it with the Q9h? I would like 6.1 on it but when I call Motorola they told me I have to wait till they make an update to allow the 6.1 update and they had no official release date set for the initial update
I tried it on My Moto Q & it didnt work , also i realised that it is for GSM Moto Q8 only .
CDMA versions will not work at all.
so if you have a GSM Moto Q8 you might as well try your luck. for the time being CDMA users have to wait.
Someone tried it...
the story is kinda long so I copied the best part:
Then on March 9th 2008, I was searching online one that board Xda Developers, when I saw people discussing the release of windows mobile 6.1 and downloading it from a Chinese website for the Q. Immediately I downloaded it (I even used Google Translate to be able to read Chinese), and I downloaded RSD Lite and began the upgrade, without even thinking once, My phone went into Bootloader mode…. I was so excited as I watched the screen do things, then all of a sudden, the message appeared on the screen, FLASH FAILED!!!! I tried once, I tried twice, and I tried four times, I tried 5 times, NOTHING!!!!!
AND TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE MY PHONE WAS STUCK IN BOOTLOADER MODE, I WOULD TAKE OUT THE BATTERY AND PUT IT BACK IN,. NOTHING, I WOULD HOLD THE POWER BUTTON, NOTHING!!!!!! MY PHONE WAS STUCK IN BOOTLOADER MODE!!!!!!!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MY PHONE WAS BRICKED, NO MATTER WHAT I DID, THE ROM WAS GONE, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IN AN INSTANCE I CALLED MY MOTOROLA FRIEND, NOTHING, NO ANSWER, ANSWER MY FRIEND, I KNOW I’M CALLING FROM A LAND LINE AND YOU DON’T HAVE THAT NUMBER, BUT ANSWER DAMN IT!!!!!! I NEED YOU!!!!!!!! NOTHING!!!!!
I wait till the next day and put my sim in my older phone, my old Treo 750, what a bulky piece of crap, I call my friend and in a panic I tell him what happened. He tells me to calm down, and tells me to take it to the Motorola Repair Center and he will call them there to give them a heads up.
I go to the Motorola repair Center, which is conveniently located right in front of my office, I drive so fast hold my Moto Q8 close to my heart, as if I’m holding a dying child on the way to the hospital. In an instance all the lovely memories that I shared with my Moto Q8 come flashin in front of me, I immediately forget about the wet dreams I had about the 3G enabled Moto Q9H, and feel guilty that I ever had them, I speak to my Moto Q8 and tell it that I am sorry I thought about the Q9H, and that I will never leave it, all I want is my Moto Q8 back, I don’t care if it has GSM, I don’t care if its only EDGE enabled, I don’t care if I manually have to pull my e-mail on it unlike I had to do with my Blackberry 8700, I loved my Moto Q8 and I wanted it back more than ever.
So I walked into the repair center, and the manager approaches me, he had gotten the call from my friend that I was coming in, he knew my father quite well, and I told him, that he had to help me, that he had to fix my Moto Q8, I told him that I loved that phone, and he told me that it will be OK, I gave him my phone, and a tear dropped down my cheek. He told me to come back in an hour and he would update me. I had a meeting on the other side of Cairo and it would last almost 3 hours. I walked out of the repair center at 11 am. I was sad, I felt alone, and lonely, I felt dirty carrying around my old Treo 750, like a tramp – that is how I felt. I went to my meeting across town, the seconds felt like minutes, and the minutes felt like hours, and the hours felt like days.
In my meeting I could hardly keep my composure, My Moto Q8 was under the knife, it was alone in an operating room, it needed me by its side. I loved you so much my Moto Q8.
Finally the time went by slow, and at 2 pm I was standing outside the door of the repair center, I said a little prayer (even though I’m not very religious) and then I pulled the door. I went to the reception desk, and the gentleman behind the counter made a quick call, “Please have a seat” he said, “The repair manager will be out in 5 minutes” My heart beat so fast, I was shivering, it felt cold even though this is Cairo, one of the hottest cities in the world. On the wall they had posters of different Motorola phones, in a display case, they had many phones, past and present, they even had a Moto Q8 similar to mine, “Please god” I said “Let my Moto Q8 make it, I love it!!!”
Then 5 minutes later, I saw the repair manager walk out, My Moto Q8 in his hand, and as he approached me I heard the start up sound playing, ITS OK!!!!! ITS OK!!!!!!! I HELD IT IN MY HAND AND I WATCHED IT LOAD!!!!!!!!! I looked at the repair manager as he smiled at me!!!!! I told him, that I did not know how to thank him, I did not know what I could do, but I was filled with endless Joy, My Moto Q8 GSM was ok!!!!!!!!! I shook hands with the manager and finalized some paper work, He told me that they had to re-install the windows mobile software from scratch as if brand new, I was so delighted, and I walked out, My Moto Q8 GSM in Hand, Loving me and my Loving it back, it was like a new life. And as I walked into my office and played with my Moto Q8 GSM a little more I realized that there were some extra treats there that were never there before, when they had re-installed the new software onto the phone, they installed AIM, Yahoo Messenger, and ICQ – I only had MSN Messenger before, My Moto Q8 was back and with even more to offer me. THANK YOU GOD FOR SAVING MY MOTO Q8!!!!! I HAD NEVER BEEN HAPPIER IN MY LIFE.
THE MORAL OF THE STORY: Do not download software from Shady Chinese websites, wait for the original release from the official companies!!!
So here I am sharing my tale, My Moto Q8 by my side in all its glory!!!
LONG LIVE THE ORIGINAL MOTOROLA Q BE IT CDMA OR GSM!!!!!
if anyone want's to read the entire thing:

Yup thats me, LOL I tried it with a different rom - not the one listed on the website I posted above, that was a bad experience and my heart was POUNDING!!!!!!
Never again!
Hey I already found a working version, tried it and even make a vid so you can all trust it works. This is just for Q8 GSM
Here is the link:
Link
Here is the link to my vid:
http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=Jp9yh-7XYuE
I share this with you because I hope people that know about rom cooking will help on improving this cause actually this are the things I found are missing.
- It starts in chinesse(you can change the language if you find the regional settings menu ^^)
- It only has chinesse and english
- It has a preinstalled t9 program (wich cannot be deactivated) wich is very uncomfortable for ppl who doesn't want t9 like me
- You have to enable cleartype through registry
- Keyboard light doesn't turn on automatically, you have to turn it on by holding the msg button for 2 or 3 secs
(but you can solve this by a registry tweak)
- It doesn't come with msn messenger, you have to install metanol version for sp(search the forums)
Anyway I think it can be a lot improved with more languages specially
Cheers
Dear aneotoena you said that it has T9 preinstalled. Does that mean we cannot use the qwerty keyboard. Please explain.

with t9 I meant predictive text, its not default one but a preinstalled program wich only has chinesse and english.
I have installed it and my moto q8 is working fine now. It even feels a little faster.
One problem is that its speaker phone button does not function for speaker phone fuction, instead if I press this button it launches internet explorer.
Can some body help me with this problem?

Hi,
I've had my Touch Pro for about a month and I've had enough of that stupid Vodafone start-up screen and everything!
So I've been reading up on this forum and downloaded Total Commander, Advanced Config and RegEdit and I haven't seen anything on here about ROM's on a Vodafone Touch Pro...........and I'm a bit scared of bricking my phone!
So has anyone got an idiots' guide to getting a decent ROM on my Touch Pro? I mainly just want to get rid of all the Vodafone branding and then maybe start playing about with it more!
Thanks
I've just got a Vodafone one too! And was wondering the same thing
I'll await answers from the masses
I have the UK Vodafone Touch Pro and have just changed the ROM to ROMeOS 1.40.1. The speed difference is substancial, and I would recommend it if you are willing to risk your warrenty.
Just make sure you follow all the posted advice regarding flashing your rom.

I've never had a signal problem, so I wouldnt think so. Its just an OS change, not the radio.
I have a vodafone rom and I thought the slowness was normal (I mean how would I know and different?) :S If there are alternatives, I too am interested.
I had the phone for about a month before I decided to look into the other ROMs, mainly because i'd got into the habit with my old v1606 (Hermes).
After looking at a few I eventually decided to try the ROMeOS one first, and so far I havent regreted it. It seems much faster, and the changes that have been made seem to improve the operation.
You still get the initial Vodafone boot screen then an alternate ROMeOS one, however even the boot seems much faster to me (I haven't actually timed it)
The only thing I will say is that if you like to modify TF3D then uninstall the 'HTC Manila Enhancements' using Remove Programs before you install any other mods or you may get a clash as I did.
I should add that I have only flashed ROMeOS in the last 24hrs so a full 'workout' has not been given to it yet.
Also make sure you read and follow the beginners guide in the ROM Development folder before you attempt the flash.
I have my Vodafone UK Touch Pro for 2 months. Yesterday i decided to change the ROM.
There is sooo much hype about bricking the phone but all the tools out there made it very easy for me, actually i only used 2 tools!
First download and install HardSPL
Then install the rom of your choice using the supplied .exe.
Simple, where abouts you based, could poss do it for you if you want?
I did manage to change my ROM - to the afour mentioned ROMeOS ROM - which is awesome. I did download Elite ROM but it was loaded with way too many programs for me!
It is a simple process, but I still get worried!!
I would like to change my Vodafone branded device to the Romeos rom if possible but want to know how I can make a dump of my current Vodafone ROM so If for any reason the device needs to be sent back I can shove that ROM back on?
Also, when changing roms, Is there a way to not lose your text messages?
Thanks
Regards,
Neil
Yeah - use a program called PIMBACKUP. I've backed all my stuff up about 3 times now with no problems.
You can save your original ROM, I never did as you can download the stock ROM's from here.
Read the Flashing For Newbies topic - it's invaluable. It ill have the links for the downloads you need
Touch Pro's Worst Rom
Just wanted to add my vote for hating this ROM. The red theme is horrible.
I thought I would wait a bit before flashing after shelling out £370 but this ROM was totally ruining my experience. Flashed within 12 hours of the phone arriving!!!
Can anybody who has successfully removed the Vodafone Rom and installed a new one shed some light on how they managed to do it. Ive flashed roms dozens of times on my Kaiser and the Hermes and had no problems at all but so far ive had no joy with the Touch Pro. No matter how i try and install hard SPL (either via the pc or using manual install) i never get past the black screen stage and 0% progress and then when the phone restarts nothings changed and i can no longer connect to Active Sync without hard resetting the phone and restarting the computer. I cannot use the Vodaphone Rom its so awful so im desperate for some advice.
MagicAlex - I flashed my TouchPro twice and had no problems either time. I basically followed the step by step guide which is stickied to the other ROM Developement forum.
Sorry I coudn't be more help, but that's how I did it, thanks to this wonderful forum
oh yeah ive flashed mine three times now. it turned out to be some mysterious issue with my pc. after two days of getting nowhere using Vista32 i plugged my TP into my girlsfriends laptop running Vista64 & it flashed first time. I have no idea what the issue is as i flashed my Vario2 & 3 dozens of times on my pc with no problems at all. very strange!
Hey guys I like this community and would love to get more involved. I was wondering if some of you could help me understand some of the lingo around here so I can get better acquainted with what I am doing. I would like to load a cooked rom onto my HTC Touch I have the sprint version, but I went to the touch section on the forum and it feels like I am trying to read another language >.< so if anyone could help me understand some of this I would be greatly thankful, thanks in advanced
cooked roms are custom roms. your provider locks your device to only ve able to load roms that they provide... therefore you need to unlock your phone to be able to flash it (through hard spl.)
here is a link on flashing your first rom.
Just follow directions and you will be fine (BUT MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW THEM OR YOU WILL TURN YOUR PPC INTO A VERY EXPENSIVE PAPER WEIGHT)
Wow thank you tons for the quickness of the reply
no prob
Everything went fine when I was going through the steps, and everything seemed to be going right through the HardSPL step three, but when my phone restarted itself, I got nothing but a backlight I hope I dont have an expensive paper weight >.< Is there anything I can do to fix it?
what phone are you using
Im using the HTC Touch by sprint, but now instead of black it is The HTC smart Mobility screen
The thread i gave you earllier was for a refrence on how to flash....
I'm guessing you tried to install something from that page. (that page was for the kaiser)
You can only flash things made for your device.
Here is a such thread with some refrences to the correct things you will need
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=458449
PS: if you think you bricked your device here is some info on unbricking
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=24906
Yeah no it's completely bricked now I cant even get it to turn on :/
If you can get to the bootloader on your device by following the instructions here you can save your device:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=362768
"hold the end key and the side camera key and stick the stylus into the hole"
you will need to hold the buttons till after the screen comes up (if you can get it to come up)
Yeah I cant even get my phone to turn on now Im guessing its done for good :/
Hi guys, I'm new here and in a fix. I'm with CSpire and to keep my current plan I had to find a used Galaxy S2 (Cspire has none) to replace my Galaxy S (slow 3g around Memphis).
Seller had all Cspire packaging, etc and said it was a company phone but when I get to Cspire they can't program it and show me the 'Mycricket' info in Settings. Call 611 and you get Cricket Customer Service so someone evidently flashed it to work with cricket at some point.
How much of a pain is it to try and get this phone back to Cspire so I use it? Only thing I was told by someone on craigslist (lol) is that I need to get the Cspire PRL for my 'new' phone and somehow d'load some software to flash it back to Cspire so I can get it activated but it seems like a lot of work, especially for a near 2 year old phone.
Any thoughts?
Thanks guys
Jeremy
Have you tried going to SamMobile website, and finding stock firmware for that device?
That's a good place to find STOCK Carrier specific firmware for Samsung devices.

Thanks, no but I'll see what I can dig up. The seller did finally mention that they 'lost' it for a month but didn't know what happened to it, and have offered to take it back so I told them to give me a day to look at it. The cheapest mint S2 phones are over $150 so it would be cool to fix this one since I only paid $90 for it.
I don't want to waste alot of time on this phone though. I've grown up building and overclocking computers but don't have any interest in doing that to the phone or spending hours learning how to get this phone back to the original carrier.
Thanks for the heads up on SamMobile though!
EDIT: I checked SM's firware listing and unfortunately mine isn't listed for the CSpire GS2. It's a SCH-R760.
I've seen newer white SG2 phones for around $150 that are supposed to be newer than the black models but I prefer black, and $90 lol. This stinks...
Ya.. when I saw your first post I did a quick google search to figure out that model.. and the SCH-R760 is what I found and didn't see it on SamMobile either. Tough Luck.
I've never heard of CSpire either, so I thought you might have better luck finding a stock rom.
BUT... doing another google search.. I found this.. give it a quick look.. hope it helps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597686

Thanks, I looked it over which is a bit much for someone not used to hacking a phone lol. One question, is getting a stock rom the answer to getting the phone to work with the original carrier? BTW, C Spire used to be Cellular South, a large regional carrier around the mid-south (Memphis,TN/MS/AL,etc)
Thanks
One question I should have asked first... does the phone have the stock Recovery installed?
To boot into recovery on that phone (if you don't know already, not sure).
1. Power off the phone.
2. Press and HOLD: Volume UP + Home Button + Power (in that order, one after another, keeping all pressed)
3. When you see the Galaxy S2 Logo come up, you can let go of the Power button. Then when a recovery screen comes up, or a logo for a 3rd party Recovery comes up you can let go of the Volume and Home button.
If recovery is stock, you will see "Android system recovery <[X]e>" [X] just being number for recovery.
If recovery is modded you will probably either see TWRP recovery or CWM recovery come up.
If it's STOCK, and you have already backed up all your information you can try -> "wipe/data factory reset" which will still keep some data, but system will restore to it's original state.
