Where can I get a flashable stock (by stock I mean factory image stock) rom for nexus 5?
I am asking this because I can't access my laptop right now and I need of a fresh rom as I think my current rom (cataclysm) is starting to act up.

Hello, this is herna from XDA Assist.
I´m currently Nexus 5 owner, and yes there is flashable stock Lollipop for your device.
In case to get any of those, you should have created this thread into Nexus 5 help one.
I will move this thread so you can get a link for the flashable zip, and please, if you have any other problem with Nexus 5, ask in the below link:
Nexus 5 Help
Anyway, you seems to be enough knowledged in terms of XDA since you got to flash the Cataclysm ROM, which is shared in our forums. So please, next time before creating a thread here, not only XDA Assist, also Nexus 5, try to search along Nexus 5 general section and you will find what you want there. Before asking, please investigate a little, it will save a lot of time to you, and also to us.
Cheers!
Maby this site can help you out!
You can find the images on the developer website from google.
I am new to the forum so cant link you to it.
Use google though with nexus 5 factory images.

Check dev sections. Flash a factory image. You pick.
Read the stickied threads on General. There's a really good one by Elluel.

Hi friends,
I'm "new" ('cause I'm newly register) in XDA, but I read this forum at least from 7-8 months.
My name is Nicolò, Nic --> SuperNic --> Sup3rN1c...
Nice to meet you!
I have a Galaxy Note with CheckROM 0.7 and I want to move to Paranoid Android.
The istruction says:
DON'T flash FROM ANY SAMSUNG ICS OR ROMS BASED ON SAMSUNG KERNELS (my CM9, AOSP, etc)

My question is: is CheckROM based on Samsung Kernel?!
I think it is, but I'm not sure.
If it's based on stock kernel, must I flash another ROM and kernel first?
Which do you suggest me?
Thanks for all and best Regards.
Nic.

Thanks zacthespack,
I successfully flashed PA 0.5!
I've only 2 issue, I think, that nobody had (i searched in the main thread):
- Chrome stop when I try to go to "settings";
- default Message app stop when I enter a thread; I have imported SMS from a backup made with TitaniumBackup from CheckROM.
Thanks,
Nic.

Best place to ask this is the Google Nexus 5 > Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > [HELP THREAD] Nexus 5 | Ask any question.
There you will get quick and proper help and advices.
AFAIK you only need a mobile data option in your mobile contract, a modem/baseband compatible with your carrier/region and enable mobile data in your system settings.
But better ask in the Nexus 5 help thread.
BTW here you can find modems for the Nexus 5 flashable in a custom recovery: Google Nexus 5 > Nexus 5 Android Development > [MODEM] [EFS] Nexus 5 Flashable Modems and EFS Backup [KTU84P]
i want directly simulate BTS and i want actually send sms as if they came from carrier
all i need is basically send sms packet from my phone to another phone in (i use GSM)
so basically you say that this is possible by using custom ROM right ? this is already good news for me
sorry for my ignorance but i know very little about flashing.
can i compile my custom ROM binaries ? where can i find source codes if so ?
TIA

Please ask this in your device specific forum's Q&A forum that I linked already in my previous post.
Thanks for your understanding.

Hello guys. I need some help with installing a custom ROM for my friends Nexus 5. He either wants an Android L ROM or a CM11S ROM. They need to be good for daily driver at least. He prefers Android L if possible. He is running KITKAT 4.4.4, 3.4.0 kernel and KTU84P build number. Baseband is M8974A-2.0.50.1.1.6. He is fully stock. I would like a guide to install a custom recovery and then the ROM. Please give me clear instructions and be 100% about what you say because if it breaks he can't afford a new one. Thanks in advance!
Nothing is 100% Maybe you shouldn't be doing it for him until you read up on it. That's lots of guide. See the roll up sticky in the general forum

I'm just asking for links pretty much explaining the procedure for my friends phone. I already told you his phone's details. If I find some guides that I'm sure they work then I'm ok.

He wants a daily driver custom rom and he is thinking about flashing a rom based on a developer preview build? ^^
Guides provided here are safe if you follow all the rules.

Hey everyone!..This is the question I wanted to be answered by you experts out there.
I own a Spice Coolpad Mi-515 (which is same as Coolpad 7295). I badly want to install latest version of android on my device but I am unable as my device provider doesn't release any updates. Hence as an alternative I have been looking for the stock android rom (v4.4 and later). SO my question is that, does the Nexus 5 factory image released by Google work for my device(if no, then does it work with any modifications to the same rom)..Please help me out guys.I would be indebted to your help. I like android so much that I want to try latest version.
Thankyou
It won't work for you device
you would need binaries for lollipop for your device. if none exist, then it wouldnt work. the nexus factory img has device specific stuff just for the n5 and no other device.

Hey,there thanks for your reply. Can you help me in building a lollipop(android 5.0) rom for my device. I wanna dive into this field of making my own rom now onwards so that I need not keep searching roms specific to my device. Any help would be really appreciated!
I'm kind of new to this, but I saw a video of ONE UI running on the OnePlus 6 and 6t, but it day that they port that Rom, will I be able to install that Rom on the OnePlus 7 Pro for example? Or install a Android Q beta Rom via TWRP without port/support? Or does it has to be ported or compatible with the device?
Theoretically you should be able to flash A/B GSIs (note that the OnePlus 6 uses A only GSIs! There's a difference! Grab the AB GSIs!). Don't expect things to work properly. It might boot. It might not.

There's a handful of ROMs available now in their respective threads here on XDA. They all have instructions on installation.
Yep, go to the Development section and study the roms. Then Flash away...

Send me your phone and I'll flash a custom ROM for you. Otherwise, do your homework. We're not here to babysit.

XDA has a "Question and Answer" thread, which was created to help each other, if you're not going to help don't even bother commenting, also, line I said, why are you on this section if you're not going to help?

ROMs are built for a specific device and can be ported and maintained. There are a few that you need to flash in TWRP as per their specific instructions and a few that you can flash in magisk. You need to research and all the information you need is usually on XDA with each ROM in the development section. If it's not there, it probably doesn't exist or is done by a Dev who does not associate with XDA. Make sure you are familiar with nandroid backup and restore, root, TWRP and all the flashing methods associated with each. The instructions are all there and Google is your friend. Most issues you may experience are already brought forth and that's what the search function is for, but if you follow the instructions, you shouldnt have any issues.
