i have Galaxy S6 G9200 Lollipop 5.0.2 i see now can update to 5.1.1 via OTA and lose root
Is possible to do UPDATE & ROOT WITHOUT TRIPPING KNOX?
EDIT OTA UPDATE?
1. Have Rooted Samsung Galay S6 lollipop older version ( Root is needed for copy OTA update)
2. Download OTA update on my storage
3.Attach root privileges to OTA update package (SuperSU or another to OTA update?)
4.Use changed OTA via FlashFire.
5.Have Lollipop 5.1.1 Rooted without tripping KNOX?
I can't test it, because i don't know what edit
OR
EDIT FULL LOLIPOP 5.1.1 SYSTEM & Pingpongroot
1.Download Lollipop 5.0.2 ROM (Vulnerable on Pingpongroot)
G9200 = LRX22G.G9200ZHU1AOE4
2.Download Lollipop 5.1.1 for G9200 (Not yet released)
3.extract boot.img from Vulnerable ROM
4.insert this Vulnerable boot.img to Lollipop 5.1.1 ROM (replace the file boot.img)
5.Install via ODIN this changed .tar ROM without tripping KNOX??
6. Use Pingpongroot for gain Root Access
7. ODIN install 5.1.1 kernel (boot.img) after it can't use again this method for root can't downgrande
I try test it when Samsung give us G9200 Lollipop 5.1.1 ROM without OTA
If it working i think can be used for another Galaxy s6 models.
I think that boot.img copy/paste is not gonna work
I would test it with my S6 (G920F) and tell if it works

When it don't works maybe only delete boot.img from 5.1.1 rom and odin install can working?
Then Kernel no update and vulnerable pingpongroot
For flash kernel ONLY from older ROM 5.0.2 ( Vulnerable pingpongroot)
I delete all another files in old ROM.tar and i left only boot.img and success flash via odin.
I think when we can delete files from ROM and flash only kernel.
We can too replace only kernel. Generally all files are from stock ROMs and boot loader before 5.1.1 don't block downgrade.
I hope it can work. I want 5.1.1 rooted and this ram leak fix from 5.1.1
I search too good method for fetch OTA update from my rooted G9200, but i can't find any program wo can download it or hide root against Samsung OTA Update. Don't want unroot my phone now
btw is possible to downgrade kernel via FlashFire without enter download mode? e.g. 5.1.1 kernel to 5.0.2?

Tested on my Canadian i337M S4 (4.4.2 MVLUFNI2 firmware). Knox was not tripped.
This may work on other S4.
Summary of the Steps:
- Downgrade to special Kernel from W0lfdroid
- Root with TowelRoot
- Flash back 4.4.2 Kernel
- Downgrade to 4.2.2 Modem
- Unlock with RegionLock Away v1.3
- Flash back 4.4.2 Modem
Detailed Steps:
-=FILES REQUIRERD=-
Download these ROMs from SamMobile:
4.2.2 rom for your phone
- Use 7zip to extract MODEM.BIN from it
4.4.2 rom for your phone
- Use 7zip to extract MODEM.BIN from it
- Also use 7zip to extract BOOT.IMG (this is the Kernel), and archive it as a tar file.
-=ROOT=-
Follow this method:
http://www.w0lfdroid.com/2014/09/To...4-S5-and-Note3-Android-4.4.2-NF-or-Later.html
Important: for flashing back the Kernel, the 4.4.2 file from that site may not work properly (causes wifi to behave weird). You need to use the boot.img tar you made earlier.
-=UNLOCK=-
1. Put S4 into download mode by holding Volume Down and Home Button on startup, then press Volume Up
2. Attach Phone using USB cable
3. Start Odin
4. under the Files [Download] section 3rd button (Phone) point to the 4.2.2 modem.bin
5. click on start
6. --- After phone reboots, check it installed correctly by verifying the baseband version is the same as the one you just flashed
7. Once successful run RegionLockAway
8. Next you must install proper modem back using Odin
9. Start Odin
10. under the Files [Download] section 3rd button (Phone) point to the 4.4.2 modem.bin
11. click on start
12. --- After phone reboots, check it installed correctly by verifying the baseband is the same as the one you just flashed
Using Heimdall on Linux to flash stock ROM and getting everything back to original tripped KNOX for me.
Everything was done properly and ROM worked perfect. Oh well.
Tip: (lol)
When flashing stock firmware back to device stick to Windows stock ROM flashing methods. (Odin)
Wish I would of found this info a few weeks ago. niCCe!
ngold thanks
I have a phone from a guy at work it is a Rogers phone KNOX is already tripped the phone is rooted and on 4.4.2 MVLUFNI2 firmware can I still use your unlock method?
And if so which 4.2.2 firmware did you use on Sammobile I don't see any Canadian firmware listed for 4.2.2.
Do you have a link to the RegionLockAway is it just the 1.3 version I'm finding for the Note 3?

Yeah you can use this method if KNOX is already tripped. (or you can just use CF-Autoroot as it saves some hassle)
To unlock, the firmware I used was VLUAMDJ . On Sammobile, you'll see it if you filter by Canada (Rogers).
For Regionlock Away 1.3, yes you can use the one posted in the Note 3 forum - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470551

Thanks ngold,
Will CF-Autoroot unlock the phone it is already rooted?

No CF-Autoroot only roots the phone. It trips the Knox, but it's easier. So if you already tripped Knox, that's the best method to root.

Thanks dude it worked I was worried because I didn't have a working sim card in it but no problems.
I can't flash the modem, bootloader locked?
download what roms? links?
If the phone has a 4.3 or newer bootloader, the phone can't be rooted without tripping knox as far as I know.
hi ,
I just bought the the [N915f ] International factory unlocked.
during the night I have got the LALIPOP 5.0.1 update, now don't know if that was a mistake.
I want to root my thing and I can't find the rooting method for n915f running 5.0.1.
am I missing it ?
should I downgrade back to 4.4.4 root it and upgrade it with FlashfFire? (as I did with my NOTE PRO 12.2 p905)
Hi,
I am looking for a root option for my phone, in order to use flashfire,
Flash 5.01 with root .
As i did succssefuly and easly on my tab using towlroot and FLASHFIRE
As for my phone.
I want to do somthing wierd,
I want to use towelroot, but it wont work on firmware grater the june 3 2014.
My device doesnt have any firmware less then oct 2014
What will happend if i take a similar device firmware and my firmware
Extrac both mix both so i get my model modem recovaty and boot
But rest of os would the other model's kitkat ,
I dont expact to run/work this way,
Only make my device boot on kitkat then towlroot it supersu it
And FLASHFIRE it to stock lalipop 5.0.1 ROOTED
Does this makes sens
Rooted N915F lollipop
I successfully rooted my N915F running on latest lollipop using this method, just download the cf root 915f files , flash with odin that is provided inside the zip file and ofcourse it will fail, then flashed the latest TWRP 2.8.7.0, in my case i have to make the tar file using cygwin because the tar file is not available on TWRP website instead you will get a img file. After the TWRP is up, i flashed the supersu 2.46

Hello i have 920I with android 5.0.2 rooted with pingpong root and knox not tripped.
I want to update to 5.1.1 using smartswitch, and then rooting the stock rom.
Is there a procedure on how to do this as i have been confused because each thread gives a different method.
Also would i need to flash new bootloaders modems etc... after the update.
If someone can tell me or link me the best way to get a clean install of official 5.1.1 rom and root it.
Thank you

No, the update with have the latest bootloaders etc...
I have not done it because I don't want a custom kernel on my phone. I am not aware of way to do it without tripping knox.
Hello,
I just installed the 5.1.1 (G920FXXU2POGJ) Android version to my S6 (SM-G920F). Is there anyway (tripping or not tripping the knox - I already tripped the knox when installed a TWRP recovery) to get a root access?
I tried with CF-Auto-Root but it did not work.
Any solution?
Flash a custom kernal via TWRP.
But you posted this question in the wrong section bro.
Sent from my SM-G925F
cf-autoroot doesn't work for 5.1.1 firmware
For rooting G920F with 5.1.1 :
1. Download Odin3_v3.10.6.zip
2. Download twrp-2.8.7.1-zeroflte.img.tar
3. Download S6-UniKernel_v6-0001-ODIN.tar
Go to download mod and use with Odin for root (S6-UniKernel_v6-0001-ODIN.tar) and install custom recovery mode(twrp-2.8.7.1-zeroflte.img.tar).
I have a Galaxy S5 and it's on 5.0.1 Stock not rooted or Custom recovery. I want to install Blisspop 6.0.1. How would I go about doing this? Is it ok to install the 6.0.1 OTA and still be able to root and install custom recovery?
Edit: Ended up just OTA. Mod delete thread please??
It's probably easiest to update OTA, since it will preserve your apps, data, & settings. I wrote a step-by-step tutorial on how to update OTA to 6.0.1, install a custom recovery, and root. Here you go...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...torial-step-step-instructions-how-to-t3363877
I believe blisspop is still based on 5 firmware. If you update you'll just have to go back to OK4 firmware to run it.
