Audio over Bluetooth, phone to phone - General Questions and Answers

This is almost unbelievable.
I want to simply open "Music" on my phone (where I have 32G of music stored), and have it play on my Android TV box device through my Home Theater, so that I can lounge with phone in hand, and change the track, etc.
In my car, I have an FM Transmitter (no Aux input on the radio) which connects to my phone via Bluetooth, and my music plays perfectly on my radio.
Why isn't there this basic solution for doing the same for:
Phone to Android TV Box
Phone to Phone
I can pair my phone to my TV Box, and even send files over Bluetooth, but they wont connect when I try in Settings, Bluetooth-- I suspect because no software is making the "gesture" from the TV Box to the phone (like I assume what happens in my car with the FM Transmitter).
Same thing for Phone to Phone..
Any free solution to what I want to achieve?

Have you tried connecting via the Wi-Fi Direct settings from your phone?
Sent from my LG-D850 using Tapatalk

Never seen that before. Not sure what to do with that.
How do I utilize that?

It's under your advanced Wi-Fi settings. Once you get there you can search for connectable devices.

That might just work if the tv supports wifi direct.

well, I got it to connect to the "MBox" in Settings, Wifi, Wifi-Direct...
..but, what's unclear is what app(s) would I install/utilize to now stream audio from my phone to my "MBox"? (as an aside, the "Mbox" was already connected to my LAN via wired Ethernet, so now it's also direct connected via its' wireless to the phone)
I already tried to open Miracast on the "Mbox" but it says "Waiting for user to connect", or some such thing, and I can't see what I'd do on the phone to complete that.
The phone is running LS KitKat and there is a section in Settings, Display called "Cast Screen" but all that says is "No nearby devices were found"

nexus s and volvo c30 -> no audio via usb?

hi
i have a nexus s and a volvo c30 with the multimedia package which has a usb port. With my iphone, I could just plug in the iphone in the usb and i could navigate trough the music and listen to it on my iphone trough the car's stereo.
If i put in the nexus nothing happens, it keeps trying to read the disk.
if i put on usb storage mode, it says after a while that it can't read the disk.
is there any way i can make this work or is it just not possible?
I would check out the manual or Google it. I bet the Volvo stereo only supports FAT16 or FAT32 format (i.e. USB flash thumb drive). Just a guess. Hope it works out...
Also, does it support Bluetooth? If so, see if the stereo can accept audio over bluetooth. I've got a 5-6yr old Alpine head unit that can do it, so I'm betting there's a good chance yours can.
The manual says it indeed only supports usb2 and fat partitions...
Is there any way this can be done on the nexus?
I have bluetooth, but there is no mension about being able to play music over bluetooth, phone does work and addressbook syncs, so bluetooth works as it should
I'm honestly not sure about the formatting issue. I would assume that repartitioning the phone would be a tough job to do without messing something up.
As for Bluetooth, I don't really have any experience with audio-via-BT, but I would try atleast pairing it to the car to see if you can play around with it. Go to Settings > Wireless and Networks > Bluetooth Settings. Enable Bluetooth and turn Discoverable on. Then try using your car to pair with it, or vice versa. If you manage to get it connected, I don't really know what the next step would be, since I've never had a stereo that supported it without paying $200 for an adapter.
I would just play around with the bluetooth stuff and see if you can get it running. Since I'm not familiar with Volvo car stereo systems, I don't know if it really supports playback, or just phone calls. See if there's an input in the menu (ie CD, FM, AM, AUX, etc) called BT Audio, or something like that. 3rd party head units typically have this input if they support it, similar to the AUX input option. I'll see if I can find a generic guide for it in the meantime.
What year is your C30?
Good luck
So it looks like your car does NOT support the audio via Bluetooth protocol, known as A2DP. I found a great resource for your car that you should check out, called C30 World. From there I found a thread on this, where people say it doesn't support it, and that your best bet is to use the aux input jack in the center console. Unfortunately, it also looks like that jack is disabled if you have the Bluetooth package installed.
My advice is for you to post on the C30 World forums and ask for some help. I'm sure there's some very knowledgeable people over there that can help you.
thanks man
I think I will just put a usb splitter in there and use a thumb drive in the usb with my music and use the phone as a phone on bluetooth and still have the option to charge my phone
Try using the BT adapter that I use. Been using viseeousa 2000 plugged to my USB port. Flawlessly stream music wireless. Plug and play device and works with android for bluetooth streaming.

Soundfly View w/ Optimus V

I have the Soundfly View (BT FM Transmitter) that I want to use with my Optimus V. According to both the phone and the Soundfly, it pairs and connects fine. I can also do calls with it fine.
However, it won't allow me to play music using the Soundfly menu. It always says "BT Not Connected". If I start playing using the phone, I don't get the audio through the Soundfly/FM either.
Any ideas?
After some experimentation, when I pair with the phone, then connect, the phone states "connected to phone and media audio". Afterwards, I can play music via the BT. However, when it disconnects and reconnects (automatically), it only says "connected to phone" and I can no longer play audio. That is, even though within the BT options it has both phone and media audio checked.
Net result - I can play audio, but I have to repair the phone every time.
If anyone knows how to make it reconnect to both automatically, I'd be glad to hear it.

Bluetoooth audio to laptop speakers

Hello!
I have a Bell Canada Sensation 4G, running Android Revolution 6.5.
I have a work laptop (Toughbook CF-52). I got given a brand new 2012 Ford F-150 yesterday, it has Ford SYNC. I successfully stream music from my Sensation to the Ford stereo over bluetooth, no issues. Works with Tune-In radio and XM radio apps.
Now, I want to do the same, keep my phone in a drawer, and play XM to my laptop via bluetooth. I have paired the device with laptop, connection works, even tethering.
I went into bluetooth options on laptop and made sure "Audio Sink Service" is enabled. Now I'm not sure what else I need to do to get the audio to play on the laptop. It's a company laptop that is locked down hard, limited admin rights, and only access to Windows Media Player. Any thoughts on how to get this going? I would just play XM through IE browser, but we are locked out of the site. I want to also avoid constantly plugging/unplugging speakers to my phone, hence why I want to BT the audio to the laptop.
Thanks a bunch! (additional info below)
Additional info from my searching...
I long click on my BT device like this guy did, but I dont get any options come up for bluetooth. I find zero way to get any extra options in BT settings on the phone that has anything to do with media, or audio, etc.

I had the same problem - I got music, but phone audio didn't work.
I went into Settings>Wireless & Networks>Bluetooth Settings, long-pressed on the bluetooth device I was using, selected options, unchecked both "Phone" and "Media", then re-checked them both.
After that, I got both A2DP media audio, as well as phone headset functionality.

[Q] Pioneer Car stereo android app?

Ok, I don't exactly know where to post this, so General seemed the most likely spot.
I just installed a Pioneer DEH 9400bh receiver in my car. It installed fine and bluetooth streaming and hands-free work just fine and all that.
My question is, is there an app that allows a user to navigate the units usb connection via phone? Navigating the usb drive (if you put one on) is sort of cumbersome on the head unit. It would be nice if you could do that from the phone.
Furthermore, is there an app or fix to get the unit to display song info that is streaming from the phone? I don't mean Pandora, I mean songs on the phone itself. Maybe it already does this, but I couldn't get mine to display the info.
Any help would be appreciated.

"Media audio" not automatically turned on when connected to car

Hi,
my Mate 9 connects fine with my car, "contact sharing" works as well as " message access" and "phone audio"- so basically the phone functions are working as they should.
However I do have problems with my "media audio". This doesn't get activated in most of the times (like 90%). Which means I have to go into the Bluetooth settings, click on my connected car and switch the "media audio" on in order to listen to my cell phone audio player.
At first I thought it was my car, but it works perfectly with my other two Samsungs (S6 and S5) - media audio is getting activated automatically and music is playing. So it has to do with my Mate 9.
Does anyone have any recommendations on what to do here? At this (frustrating) point I'm even willing to use a third party app or widget which allows me to quickly activate media audio without going through all the Bluetooth setting menus.
Help?
I haven't got a solution but I am having the same issue

Having the same problem with not just my car but also my Creative Soundblaster Roar. Everytime I try to play music from my phone when I am in the car, it plays from the phone instead, but the song title does show in the car display screen. I need to restart my phone and reconnect before I can play it through the car sound system
Bluetooth Auto Connect has always been helpful for me and works fine on my p10
Same problem here (p20 pro) except that it is "phone audio" that doesn't turn on automatically. Have to turn it on manually each time. Very irritating.
I've got the same problem, has anyone found a fix yet?
