Mi MIX

Just got the S8+ and I like the AOD but then I want to go to the pin/pattern entry screen to proceed to the desktop. Instead, after the AOD, I get a lock screen that isn't used to unlock because it doesn't display my pattern entry. I have to swipe for that. Just another step.
1. How do I go directly to the pattern lock screen from the AOD? Or no lock screen if the phone isn't locked.
2. Is there a way to show the "Phone is Locked" icon on the AOD? If I see this lock up front, then I won't try to use my fingerprint on a phone that is not locked in the first place.
thx

Hard press the home button on the AOD will take you straight to your desktop, or to the pin/pattern screeen directly after a restart.
If no home button on AOD press where it should be at the bottom of the screen, it's just hidden.
Sorry, can't help with question 2.
Try this setting. "unlock with home button"

That's wonderful. No way to add the lock pattern to the lock screen? Seems silly to call it a lock screen but you have to swipe to unlock.

It's to make the interface look more simple and elegant. Turning on the phone to your lockscren to see a pin or pattern waiting right there covers a lot of your notifications and even wallpaper which is why they added an extra swipe to get to that screen. Makes more sense this way to me honestly but luckily for you u can turn on home button unlock from settings so whenever u press on the home button from always on display it takes u directly to ur lockscren security lol
Greetings and Hello everyone
I was using Buttons & Gesture > Navigation Gestures (left & right) without a bottom bar to avoid Burn-in and I often had noticed that I can't access Task Switcher with a simple swipe up like in other apps
So recently I activated the bottom bar with the same settings and I am starting to like it down there but it disappears on Home Screen and am sure many would want a cleaner home screen but is there a way to keep it there on home screen too? For easier swipe up to task switcher instead of swipe and hold

Read properly,I never said it doesn't work at home screen its not swipe gesture but swipe up and hold gesture
Revamped with Full screen gestures, MIUI 12 tries to make Recents screen more handy. Now with Mi Note 10 in hand, I’ll share with you some of its usability.
Tap or swipe to open Recents screen
MIUI 12 supports 2 ways of system navigation, namely, Buttons mode and Full screen gestures mode.
Visit “Additional settings” > “Full screen display”, and the user can choose his or her preferable way to open Recents screen. Under Button mode, the user can tap the square button on the bottom of the screen to open the recent apps overview.
While under Full screen gestures mode, Recents screen will be open by swiping from the bottom. If you feel the full screen indicator irritating, you can also choose to hide it.

}
Go to Manage apps through Recents screen
Recents screen in MIUI also provides a shortcut to Cleaner, Security scan, Deep clean and Manage apps. Tap to enter Manage apps, and you’ll have a clear view about how many apps you have on your phone. You can also uninstall apps or enable dual apps in bulk.
Widgets of Recents screen
Long press the app window in Recents screen, and you will find 4 widgets come out. From top to bottom, I’ll walk you through the four options.
The first option can be used to lock important apps so that they remain open even when you tap the “Clear all apps” button.
The second is for splitting screen, serving your multitasking needs.
With the third option, you can enable the floating window of the current app, a more flexible way to multitask.
The last option can be used to open App info, which is useful when you wish to change app permissions, app notifications, and app data usage directly here.
