Hey guys!
I´m acutally thinking about buying the nexus-S for application development.
What I need is a wifi-chipset, which allows to set the phone to "promiscuous" or better "monitor"-mode in order to analyze packets within the network.
At the moment I own an HTC Desire, which can access the promisc mode using cyanogenmod 7. The Desire (=Nexus one) has a broadcom BCM 4329 chipset.
Does anyone know, which chipset the Nexus S uses and maybe if it can use the monitor or promisc mode?
Or maybe anyone HAS a nexus S and could test this using "Pixie-Probe" from android market?!
Hi folks,
I am a owner of a SGS+ (i9001) which chipped with the chipset MSM8255T.
Now I've seen that are out some ICS-ROMs working with the Desire HD already which contains the (estimated) previous version MSM8255.
Unfortunately I could not find any useful information at Qualcomm, which shows the differences between these two chipsets.
May I use one of these ROMs as a base for my development for an MSM8255T or differ the chipsets too much?
There is an Alpha-Release from SE for the Arc S (4.0.1) which has the same Chipset as the i9001 ... but this lacks the basic functions including the modem and wifi ...
not a good starting point when i have the chance to start behind this limitations.
Nice holidays
Hi hirnwunde!
Funny nick )
I own a SGH-T679 (Exhibit II) witch is a half brother of the GT-I8150 (Galaxy Wonder).
What I can state that my phone works with SGW roms, issues are with the keys and the camera.
The SOC seem to be the same on different clock speed.
I don't know if there is a way to safely boot SE or HTC roms on Samsung phones.

You have to watch for other device though, for instance the screen and camera needs different drivers. that by itself prevents direct usage from other phones even though the cpu is the same..
Hi All,
Do you guys know of any Android phones that have an Atheros wifi chipset? I want to have some fun with the wifi drivers, but it seems that most phones have either a TI chipset or a Broadcom chipset.
I did some google searching, but came up empty handed.
Thanks,
Kiran
when and how will bcmon support come to the oneplus one (bacon) I need to be able to use Reaver for Android, and AircrackGUI for pentesting. If no one is willing to develop for bcmon for this device can someone tell me how i can get bcmon working or perhaps other alternative and recommended pentesting software for android in general.
help

someone please respond preferably a developer familiar with bcmon and android pentesting.
I, too, am highly interested in this. I have installed the application but it says something about firmware not detected. I am rooted.

I was looking into this and you must have a Broadcom chipset in the phone for bcmon to work. If the OPO does not have a Broadcom chipset the bcmon will never work.
So the question is, does the OPO have a Broadcom chipset? If so then maybe an email off to the bcmon devs may get support started.

I seen this too, but through my searching I couldn't find any information on the chipset in the opo.

@beastlykings... sorry for the OT here, but you can't root using the method shown in your link anymore after updating to the new OTA...
I would also love to see a way to get the network chip into monitor mode, but it's not a broadcom, so the bcmon tool won't work,
However maybe there is a different way?

According to teardowns, no. It has a Qualcomm WCN3680 chipset including the Wifi controller supported by a Skyworks 85709-11 "frontend chip" (educated guess: amplifier and signal noise handling)
usb otg cable and usb wifi dongle?

ok guys i've been looking around and apparently the only way to get monitor mode working for this device is to use a usb otg cable connected to an external wifi card that actually supports monitor mode the full details are here: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/kali-linux.58134/page-2 ugh i dont want to do all that just for some basic pentesting functionality hopefully someone can get monitor mode working natively on the oneplus one's stock wifi chipset. at least we got multirom for the oneplus one

maybe we can discuss all other methods of pentesting on our oneplus one's? I personally use the dsploit nightlies quite often, so what are your penetration testing/hacking solutions for this phone?
Hello community.....happy to see all are still helping needy......
Today it's my turn I request all my lovely developer's to clear my confusion....
I just wanted to buy a new phone with dimensity chipset. But as I know it's made by Mediatek, n with my little knowledge It's big a problem for developer's with Mediatek chipset to develop custom roms as they never or rarely release their source code.
So my question is now (I think) trend is changing is there any possibilities to have some custom roms based on newly launched Dimensity 7,8,10,11 & 12 series chipset based phone's.
If someone shred a your precious light on this issue will solve my problem in buying a new phone.
Thank you in advance n believe me will hit button as much I have allowed
I also was questioning the same thing. Let's hope we will get an answer
Still no answer to this? Are those chips so unpopular?

Don't know bro ...still not able to decide which one to go either with dimensity 1200 or sd695....may be my thread is not that much popular
I am using the Realme 9 Pro plus for some time now. It is a great device but I would go with an SD chipset in the future.
if you dont need custom rom , emulation , then mali gpu is fine
