Mobile Network Signal Battery Drain Problem. Any solutions? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After clean flashing multiple ROMs, I have a mobile network signal battery drain problem that is severely reducing my battery life. I used to be able to get nearly double the amount of battery life I currently get when I was on stock CM11S. Is there a way to check what is happening and what is causing the drain? I already greenified pretty much all apps.

Looking at the screenshot, I feel that you are on Lollipop ROM.
I suggest you to visit general section of this board and check out the index thread (sticky thread) and find out the links for modem (radio) threads
Try flashing different modems which are compatible with your ROM and use the modem which gives you good network signal.
You need to download the compatible modem zip or img, and if it is a zip, you can directly flash via recovery like TWRP or if it is a img file, you need to flash from bootloader mode using fastboot commands

Yes I am on Lollipop. Still getting used to it. Kit Kat was much better in my opinion even though it's much older.
I've downloaded a couple modems and firmware files, including the latest one by @jgcaap and the latest OxygenOS firmware. Both as I understand, include modem files which are named NON-HLOS.bin. I flashed the OxygenOS firmware in TWRP 2.8.6.0 but the baseband version remains the same, ending in NAZM-1. I then extracted it and flashed the Oxygen NON-HLOS.bin via Wugfresh and the baseband version is still NAZM-1. I know I'm not the only one having troubles flashing firmware and modem files via TWRP 2.8.6.0 or 2.8.7.0 but it appears that flashing via fastboot (Wugfresh) doesn't work either? Or am I doing something wrong here?

You are absolutely correct.
Last suggestion would be
Flash CMOS12 fastboot images
Complete system wipe including internal storage is recommended
That's the last try you can do

Is the mobile network bar supposed to be completely filled like that though? Or should it have black spaces in between?
I had already flashed the latest CM12S images in the past as you recommended but it didn't change anything.

gyroscope/ autorotation not working after 5.1 roms flashed.

No matter what cm 12.1/5.1 roms I flashed, the gyroscope sensor isn't working. If I flashed back to cm 12.0 roms or lower, it works again. What could be the issue?

Revert to some other cm12.1 build nightly instead or flash latest nightly build
May be it's a problem associated with that build
I tried other 12.1 rom, same results. Cm 12.0 is fine though.
Fixed. I fastboot flashed the firmware partition.

I have this issue too ... Brand new OnePlus One, put TWRP on it, flashed the latest CyanogenMod 12.1 nightly. Looks like rotation is not working and when I look at apps that show pitch and roll values they are seemingly not getting output from the sensors.
I see that you fixed yours ... But what is this problem from? Did the 12.1 ROM come bundled with bad firmware or something?
When I flash a ROM, maybe I'm ignorant, but I presume that the right and proper firmware and radios are bundled in.
Any advise OP?
Cheers!

Depends on the ROM you flashed. I usually flash the firmware separately and never had issues.

Flash this for CM12.1
Flashed that firmware ROM ... Seemed to go in just fine ... But no joy. Still no rotation/gyro function. Any ideas? Sure would like to fix that.

Same problem here, I think the problem is located in the firmware. So it is something that CM will have to modify. Because the latest firmware (like the one in the zip) is also included in the latest nightly builds.
If rotation is something you need badly you can try the following 2 options:
- use an app to do the rotation like: playstore:rotation manager
- flash the stock CM11 and the accompaning firmware back, reflash the firmware in attachement and then reflash the CM12.1 nightly. (untested)

Little update ... Rotation seemed to work for a minute but has since stopped. Frustrating.
Same issue here, all sensors are shown to be off by Sensor Kinetics from Play Store.
Flashing everything from the factory restore image via fastboot did not help...
I have been troubleshooting the issue of rotation/orientation sensors seemingly not working. What I have found on my new OnePlus One, running the latest CyanogenMod 12.1 nightly builds is this:
Once I root the device using SuperSu I cannot regain use of the sensors/auto-rotate. I use the app named Phone Tester and after the phone is rooted the comps/orientation sensors show no output.
If I unroot the phone and reboot several times, the orientation subsystem functionality returns.
No matter what firmware/Cyanogen ROM combination I use the result is the same.
I wonder if anyone else can confirm that their screen rotation ceases to function when the phone is rooted.

Nooby question ... Doesn't the Cyanogen Nightly that I flash contain the device's firmware also? So if I flash the firmware file above separately, will it not be replaced by the next nightly that I flash? Should I tell TWRP to flash both items every time?
Before, I flashed that firmware that is mentioned above. ... But I feel like maybe it was superseded when I flashed a nightly.
Educate me.

Yes, the nightly contains and will overwrite your firmware. When going from CM to a different ROM, you don't have to flash the firmware again. As long as the android version is the same ofcourse.
Abiut your problem, do you use Superuser or SuperSU? Make sure you flash the latest SuperSU zip. More people had problems with the built in one from TWRP

Yeah I had used the latest SuperSU. The problem persists even when I don't use SuperSU though. I feel like it is some sort of race condition as processes kick off during boot or something.
I wish I wasn't relying on voodoo to get the accelerometer/auto-rotate to work.

Yes! Thank you this worked. Was getting really annoyed by this issue, thought I was gonna be stuck on 5.02 forever. Tried flashing different nightlies, different modems...
Flashed everything from the 20150505 Firmware, the first 8 steps in the guide quoted above. For some reason flashing each file manually works as opposed to flashing the zip with all of them- odd, but hey whatever works...
Great thanks that worked!!

I wanted to close out this issue as I believe it has been resolved. This problem was also a case of TWRP not correctly flashing the firmware. I "downgraded" from the X.X.0.7 TWRP to that X.X.0.6 version that others have posted links to in other threads. Frankly the GUI on this version is better.
So I downgraded TWRP, reflashed the 9 July Cyanogen nightly build. Accelerometer, compass, and proximity sensor working fine. Survived reboots. Survived new nightly.
Thanks to you folks who posted the issue about TWRP not flashing firmware correctly.

Good to See your phone works again ... I have never problems to flash Modems via recovery ...but fastboot are better....
I know this is an old post. But I'm trying to regain my IMEI. I updated my phone to Oxygen and started having problems and I noticed I had no baseband, imei and the phone would constantly reboot. I put in a ticket at OnePlus and the only way they will help ya is if you open your computer up to them for a remote session. I will never buy another devi e from them again!
Anyway.. So this post has given me some hope. From what I'm reading I need to flash these modems through fastboot and not recovery? I can try all these modems to see if I regain my IMEI?

Having trouble finding the KK modem. Would downloading stock KK firmware from Motorola then extracting the modem be something you would suggest? If KK firmware is still available. Just prefer the looks of KK over LP.

I found what was labeled as Droid Turbo stock KK firmware the other day online. I flashed your KK ROM and I extracted the radio.img from the KK firmware I downloaded and flashed it using Flashify. Decided to reboot before I checked WiFi and all I had was bootloader when it rebooted. Had to unbrick and start over. Been away from home and my laptop for the holidays so I will give your method a go when I get home. Thanks.

Oneplus no signal

Hey guys, had a bit a problem, had to flash the phone as it got stuck in a boot loop. Had some trouble with that but managed to get cm 12 on now.
The only thing is that I don't get any signal at all. In my network selection it says there are no networks available. I've tried taking the sim in and out, resetting the access points. Tried to change the preferred network type but it can't be changed from Lte/GSM auto (prl).
Just a bit of history, I had to flash to color os then to cm 11 now it has updated to cm 12.
Has anyone got any tips for me please?
Also I put in *#*#3646#*#* and I read to go into phone info and to turn off and turn on the radio, but the button said turn on radio but it didn't do anything. What does the radio do?
Thanks

Did you have a corrupt efs before this? It sounds like you followed the corrupt efs fix guide. Flash twrp 2.8.6.0 and then flash the oxygenos modem. That might fix it.
I don't know what a corrupt efs is. But I couldn't do anything with the phone. Followed some YouTube guide by using some Chinese programme and flashing color os the fastbooting cm11. How would I flash the oxygen modem? Through twrp or fastboot?
Will having cm12 and an oxygen modem be OK?

Be careful when following these guides, if it's outdated (and it looks like it is) it can cause damage to your phone.
What I'd recommend is flash twrp 2.8.6.0 or katinatez's unofficial TWRP 2.8.7.0.5
Download the modem here
Flash the modem through twrp
Thanks XDA
I got my fixed by installing modem via Fastboot.
Follow these steps:
- Boot to fastboot and run command : fastboot flash modemst1 modemst1.bin
- Once done, install Cyanogen OS 12.1 via fastboot and reboot.
Above steps got my phone fixed, it was not showing imei no, unknown baseband previously and everything is fixed now. :highfive:

That's right, instead of posting link to a post I copied text and posted, and yes I also had to flash color os using that Chinese tool as my phone hard bricked while trying to fix modem issue. But that Chinese tool revived my phone and when flashed CyanogenOS12.1 I flashed that attached modem which fixed the No SIM card issue.
The baseband version is 00241.
Hope this helps.

Need help with Odin, cannot return to stock :(

Hi,
Using latest Odin I am trying to return to my phone to stock but cannot 
I have tried 4 different firmware’s already (over 20 times) and each one will PASS the flash process, phone rests, installing system update (stops at around 30%) and during the blue screen the update stops, resets, receive Erasing message for a bit and then NO COMMAND and phone will simply not boot. (with some flashes the stock recovery is not even available, working or present)
... only way to boot the phone is to install TWRP... installing the NO VERITY file seems to help in booting…
I have noticed when i plug the phone is it comes up as another device name (from a previous ROM) so i am guessing it hasn't been wiped correctly (i did formats, factory resets, wipes many many times and no change)
Back in DOWLOAD MODE under system status = CUSTOM (after flashing stock firmware)
My guess is that the new firmware I flash simply wont stick, or is half installed, or could be something to do with encryptions,
Some of the logs I see include:
Failed to open recovery
Reboot recovery cause UNKNOWN
E: Failed setting up dirty target
Fail to mount /system as rw
i have no idea what else to try

You should flash the newest available firmware for your specific model number. You might have to flash the PIT file for your model number along with the firmware with the "re-partition" option checked in Odin when you flash it.

I need to keep v3 bootloader, i am very sure that latest firmware will work but i am trying to avoid it, and i never flashed the wrong firmware, i have tried aroud 6 different v3 and none will stick, can you suggest where i can find the PIT files and possible guide? without the pit file the repartition option fails each time...

If you didn't flash the firmware then how did it show up as a different device "from a previous ROM", as you said?
They might have been V3 firmware, but was it for the same model number of V3 as yours? Are the model numbers different? Is V3 the model number? Or is it the device branded name?

Thanks for the feedback, several months ago i flashed G935FXXS3ERHD_G935FXEO3ERG2_XEO on the S7 Edge International, so firmware is correct, i flashed a custom ROM - Glamour ROM a S9+ Ported ROM for the S7E, everything worked fine until i tried to revert back to stock, every other V3 firmware apart from the one mentioned above wont flash correctly, either fails or boot loops, has no stock recovery, and system status is still showing CUSTOM, when i plug the device in it will come up as Galaxy S9+ ... for some reason i cannot do a proper flash on it,
I am almost certain i can do a proper flash with the latest firmware but i am trying to avoid that...

Have you tried factory resetting the device then try flashing via Odin? Sometimes there is conflicting data that prevents from flashing the firmware.
You might not have a choice of which firmware to flash to repair your device.

more than you can imagine, every possible wipe and combination has been done with no luck at all

Well then, suck it up and flash the newest firmware, you are out of options.
Your device probably doesn't allow downgrading, in this case, you can only flash exactly what was on the device before you caused the issue or a newer firmware, you can't go backwards to an older firmware.
If you're trying to flash an older firmware in an effort to get past a locked bootloader, you are probably wasting your time, that doesn't work out most of the time.

That definitely makes sense that i cannot downgrade but i am flashing either the same firmware or slightly newer staying on the same bootloader version.
