Hey guys . I decided on rooting my phone a couple of hours ago and I wanted to use my usual CF-auto root method. But the shcking thing was that my phone was not listed above. I tried looking for methods but those methods required OC1 or OC5 firmware but mine was and still is at OF7 firmware. Any ideas on how to root my device :crying:

I have had problems with rooting the G900A.
The first time I used towelroot, it worked but I accidently accepted an OTA which broke root. Now towelroot doesn't work.

You can read about this "issue" here: Samsung Galaxy S 5 > Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > Update breaks towelroot on G900F.
Main thing is that you may have to "downgrade" and root again with TowelRoot.
If you have further questions, please ask in the AT&T Galaxy S5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum.
Or better in the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5 > AT&T Galaxy S5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > [INDEX][FAQ][Q&A][ALL-IN-ONE][ATT][SM-G900A][Jul.01.2014] thread.
EDIT:
Found this method to root with KNOX 0x0 on newer firmware: Samsung Galaxy S 5 > Galaxy S 5 General > [How to] Root without triggering KNOX? 2nd Method, works for Fimware ANG2 and above ... but it's originally for different variants of the S5. Maybe it works for your device too ... but haven't found a positive report so far.
So I assume that the locked bootloader will prevent this method from working on your device.
Better ask in the SM-G900A help thread I linked above to get a confirmation before flashing anything.
Thread closed and thank you!

Hi, I've been searching the whole the web for rooting a at&t samsung galaxy s5 android version 5.0 for a week now. I haven't found a single way. All methods for rooting any other model works. But none have succeeded with the at&t model. I heard you can downgrade it if you have 5.0 but it can brick your phone. I wanted to try it but I didn't want to take the risk. If anyone knows a way to root the at&t samsung galaxy s5 please help me and others tying to find the answers.

Hello
I bought a new/ used S5 (to replace my rooted S3) and had hoped to root it as well. Towel root made rooting very easy back then (for my S3) and now as I read the threads with people having the same S5 config as mine, there seems to be no way to root......not even by downgrading to 4.4. Is this correct ?
Being new to this, I am a bit confused about the other custom ROMs being discussed. Even though the custom ROMs give me new and different functionality.....are they another avenue to accomplish ROOT and more ?
Thanks much
