[Q] How to modify Quick settings menu - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, last nite I was watching my girl's phone (she has a cheap Own smartphone) and saw that in the Quick setting menu she had the option to auto-rotate the screen and then I was asking myself why motorola didnt add this but blah.. so that's my question, how do i modify this menu? I installed an app called "settings extended" but dont you think an app for just one button is too much? hehe
In case you dont know which menu I am talking about heres a picture.
I'm using a XT1040 with a brazilean rom stock kitkat 4.4.4, obviously rooted.

Touch less Control!

Sooo Google and Motorola released the ApK for touch less control..it installs on my HD..but doesn't create a menu to use...any chance anyone can take a crack at modifying the all to work with our phones? I know open mic+ is available..but the official touch less control would be better

Wouldn't it keep the phone awake all the time?

well considering OpenMic+ is employing similar ideas...but with low power usage..it only keeps power to the microphone... The X and Ultra series have the X8 system with a low power core for the microphone. ive opened up the apk file to see whats in it..but im not sure what im looking for.. need to download an XML editor.

You mean the official flip shell isn't able to turn the screen off/on in CM 11/PA? I'm pretty sure it's kernel related and should be fairly simple for the dev the fix. Maybe try reporting it on the thread.

He means, the smart cover app (for covers without magnet to turn the screen on and off using proximity sensor) doesn´t work with the moto G and the moto g LTE
Because there is a restriction that prevents access to these sensors, actually it's sort of a bug and only the system user can access these.
Even things like Skype can't access them while you're incall.
Maybe as root you can control them, but the app needs to be using that method.
This one works very well on my Verizon XT1028 with a generic non-magnetic flip cover (stock 4.4.4, not rooted, bootloader locked):
Flip Cover Control by Cloudy Day Apps
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gbolger.covercontrol&hl=en
Don't know if the problem may be specific to Paradoid or CM roms, however; but worth a try I guess.
I cannot give you a proper solution regarding your problem but I can tell you alternate way, which can be used to wake screen, there is a app named "Gravity Screen Pro - On/Off"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.plexnor.gravityscreenoffpro
and it not only works on proximity sensor but you can use other sensor to work it and its not battery hungry, I also tested this on a phone without proximity sensor, works like a charm, free version of this app also available in market, hope it will resolve your issue

Sure sorry, the notification in the status bar that's displayed in the top left corner. And were it says Sony smart watch connect/disconnected
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
If you are running 4.1 (I think) and up you can just go into the app info for the Sony smart watch app (not smart connect) and uncheck the "show notifications" box. I have been using my watch like this for a couple months and it works fine.
EDIT
Sorry I didn't see you already knew that. My bad. To answer your actual question no I have had no issues using the watch (SW1) with the notification disabled.

Now I understand ... I disabled the notification as well (since 1st day) and everything is working great .

Try ART

First thing I did after signing in was switch to ART. If your going to do the same, I'd recommend you do it before downloading your apps. It has to optimize all apps on the device and I did it without downloading a single app. 324 apps. Took a while.

Not stupid at all bud. Unlock developer settings by going to "about phone" in settings, double tap "build number" 7 times until you see the toast msg that says "you are now a developer". Back out, go to the newly available " developer settings " and 3rd (4th if you count the first non selectable line) option which says "select runtime system" and change it to "ART". It will say Dalvik until you've changed it to ART. Choosing it will reboot your device and take a few minutes while sets up your apps for ART. It is possible that if could be incompatible with some apps but since it first released with 4.4, I haven't heard of this.

I think this sped up the start up time of the camera, which is still kinda slow. I just hope I don't have issues with some apps as I've heard of others that had to completely reset their phone to stop some apps from crashing even after returning to Dalvik and reinstalling the app...

Basically, it is supposed to allow apps to start faster, run smoother and improve battery. Here's an in depth explanation

Yea maybe kitkat he means.
No literally it looked like a flash counter notification stating modified... not sure of it unlocked the bootloader or not as I'll let someone else make that brick in error... it had a lock which showed unlocked though.

You can try what others did.
mine too?
Its gone when switch back
Mine does this as well. I can't believe Samsung marks the device if you run ART. A stock feature of Android.

Yeah, that's kinda crappy. Good thing TW was toned down so much I don't see any reasons for flashing yet.

Yeah, not too bad. It looks as if they started to redesign it but only got as far as settings and quick settings lol. With Nova and Flatro icons, it looks as though it's how it was supposed to be done. One of things that was always first on my list after rooting or flashing was changing the appearance of the status bar/quick settings. I like them now so with Nova, I really like the appearance. IMO.

I don't wanna open a thread for this so I'll try it here, I can't remember the "official" name, but "quick glance"? Something like that. When device is asleep, you wave over it and it displays the time and notifications. The one " motion gesture " I use and I can't find it. Hope they didn't ax it.
Anyone know how to enable it? Can't find it in the gestures section... Nor can I find lock screen widgets.
Sent from my SM-G900V using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I know people are all excited to try anything different, but ART on this device just isn't a good experience (at least on a stock device). I really wouldn't recommend switching, as you are unlikely to be pleased.

Active Display APP on MOTO G After 4.4.4

Go to Settings > Apps > All, then you will see Active Display on the Moto G which comes after 4.4.4, does anyone know what it is for?

Well Active Display is a Moto X feature - this is Active Display Lite System process - maybe something is on it's way?. There are also a few more new system apps that I don't recognise and maybe be new - 'AonLT', and 'Motorola bgapp1'.
