Need help syncing my contacts - Verizon HTC One (M8)

I have a stock Verizon HTC One M8. I have a Google account for my contacts.
I do not know why, but my contacts will not sync. This has been going on since the end of May, but I only just realized it.
I have tried to sign out of my google account and sign back in. It put all of my contacts back in and completely current. But then it would not sync after that. I have also tried a cache partition wipe. That did not help.
Don't know what else to do. All of the other parts of my google account are synced and staying current. It is just the contacts.
Could use some help and ideas. Thank you.

Make sure that they are entered as Google contacts and not Phone or SIM contacts.

Yes.
Finally resolved somehow deleting specific cache and data files, and reinstalling Google account again.

Samsung Kies

As most have complained and I have not found any for sure solution I wanted to see if you guys could help.
Picked up my captivate today and went to try and sync my contacts via kies, no matter what I have tried it does not seem to work.
I'm windows XP SP3 framework 4.0 tried reloading drivers, reboots etc.
when I go to the contacts in Kies it says SGH I897 device not supported
Somebody please help
Anybody? I have seriously tried everything to get it to sync via kies, and this basically leaves my phone a useless brick without my contacts.
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers and kies etc.
HELP?
Honestly, just export you contacts to a .csv file and import them directly to your google account, if you don't have a google account go make one it is free and the best service for cloud computing and mail (storing contacts, mail, bookmarks,etc...), and it will sync ota with your android phone

How do you take the contacts on your phone and import them to .Cvs? I thought about doing this but I didn't see a setting for that on the phone.

If your contacts are already on the phone what is the problem?
But your phone contacts should have sync to your google contacts alreadys long as you have syncd your google account to the phone.

Very few of my contacts are synced to Google because they aren't listed as a Google contact. That is why I personally wanted to do the Cvs file then import to Google so I don't have to manually establish them as a Google contact.

Well my biggest issue with this, is that I already have 500 some odd google contacts on my primary gmail. I have no want or need for the majority of those contacts. So even if I was willing to do it via the CSV method I would need to make one of the other groups my primary contact sheet and not the gmail one.
So i guess i'm just stuck with 700+ contacts?
bueller? anyone?

backing up

when i'm signed into HTC Sense, are my contacts automatically synced to HTC sense? If not, how can I back them up using my gmail or google?

You should have a google account to use the phone....so...turn on sync and go into settings>accounts and sync and make sure its syncing your contacts....log in on a PC to gmail and check there to double check.....
It's a tablet dammit! Not a BIG phone....
you can just export your contacts to your sd. its better that way, its crazy syncd with gmail and now, in my gmail account, there are 4x the contacts I have. contacts multiplied. i don't know why. @[email protected] and its gonna be sad to have 2k of contacts jump in to your phone
I've always sync'd to gmail/google since my my first android phone in '09 (G1), never had duplicate contacts and never had to do a backup/restore.

I have used sync with MS exchange- works good, but yet have troubles add Skype contacts into exchange.
There is no problem with syncing to Google. Only you must never, really never, restore contacts from a backup. You should only use Google Contacts or a backup, never both. When you restore a backup, you will get duplicates. Been there, with only a small number of contacts luckily, and besides this, never had a problem.

Agreed! I have T-Mobile, and the first thing I do when I get a new phone, after signing into my Google account, is uncheck the damn T-Mobile backup in Accounts & Sync. Of course, once you root, you can say goodbye to that, but in the meantime...

So thats why. lol. before I was using the contacts in my google account as I was using a different phone. now as i am just exporting/importing my contacts from sd card.
So to export your contacts to your sd card, just go to "contacts" and go to options, you should see a "import/export" contacts. just select the export to SD card. then, give it a name and save. to import your contacts, just go to contacts and select "import from sd(or external - forgot the name)"

Wait. Are *all* of your contacts already in Google contacts (on the web in Gmail, not on your phone)? If they are, there is no need to backup your contacts prior to flashing a new ROM, doing a full wipe, etc. In fact, I don't recommend that. So...if all of your contacts (or other Google data like calendar and gmail) are in google/gmail contacts on the web, skip their backup. Then, after you wipe your phone and flash whatever you're flashing, just sign into your Google account, and your contacts and any other data on Google severs will automatically be downloaded (and then set up for 2-way sync) without your needing to do any thing further.
Does that make sense?

Program/mod to sync contacts

I've searched and can't find anything that works well. I'm looking for a way to sync contacts from various accounts. HTC sense had an automatic link suggestion. Any third party apps or ROMs for SGS3?
Thanks.

Written on a scrap of paper and passed to the kid next to me who told it to the kid next to her who typed it up and posted it here.
Uh, Google?
Serious. Your Google account does that. Login to Gmail from your computer and do it from there.

This. Your gmail account should automatically sync to your phone if you set it up correctly. I don't even need to back up my contacts while flashing roms because it does it for me.

Newbie

Is there a way to flash a Rom whilst keeping all personal information such as contact numbers? Sorry if this is a pretty obvious question, I'm new to all this.
It depends where your contacts are stored . Do you sync with gmail?

My contact list is automatically restored from Google. As are my wallpaper and apps.

Unfortunately, many of the numbers stored in my phone do not end up syncing with the contacts in my Gmail account. A few months ago, I had flashed Cleanrom to my phone and I tried to sync with Gmail to restore my contacts, but I ended up losing around half of my contact numbers. The actual contacts were there, but they didn't have phone numbers assigned to them, only email addresses. I want to try installing some mods for CleanRom via Aroma (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1666520) but I'm worried that the situation will replicate itself again.
You can check what contacts are stored in your Google account. This will allow you to know what is synced. Also a phone can generally store contacts in 2 places. Locally and synced to Google. There is usually a way to sync all phone only contacts. I know touchwiz had it as an option in their people app.
