Hey all, was wondering if anyone could answer this who currently owns a Transformer Keyboard Dock.
Since the dock has a battery built into it, can I charge devices via USB without the tablet docked into the keyboard or does the tablet have to be docked in order to use the USB to charge the device?
Also, I have seen pictures of a usb adapter for the transformer but cannot find it anywhere. Anyone aware of it's availability?
Thanks so much for the help!!
I just plugged a mytouch 3g into the usb port of the dock with the tablet disconnected and it did not charge the device. But as soon as I docked the tablet it started charging.
The usb adapter you describe I'm pretty sure hasn't been released yet.
hope that answered your question

yes thank you, just unfortunate as to what the answers are. have been putting off purchasing a tablet but after seeing that $100 coupon off tablets at staples this morning i am very tempted to finally pick up a transformer. Just concerned about keeping my Thunderbolt charged while tethering it to the tablet since I don't really have a strong need for the keyboard dock as of now. hope the usb adapter comes out soon.
what are your honest thoughts on the transformer?
i tried to charge my Blackberry with my keyboard dock and it wouldn't work at all..with or without the tablet docked.
Strange.....
Hai.
So I was thinking a bit here... Is it possible to charge and sync the tablet at the same time?
Im planning on making a charger port on the PC like this
But, wouldnt it be possible to attach the data cables from a USB port as well, basically making it a 12V USB port?
Or, does the tablet shut off all USB data when it receives 12-15V? Or is the charger cable wired in a weird way that it sends 5V to a different pin on the tablet than the 15V charging voltage?
Also, would it be possible to make something similar for the USB Host Dongle, making it possible to use USB stuff and charge the tablet at the same time? That would obviously require modding and adding a special charging port though.
What do you guys think? Am I thinking completely wrong here?
Sorry, Im just gonna try a bump on this.
If I could figure out a way to charge the tablet while using the USB Adapter it would be awesome, since then I wouldnt really have any need for the keyboard dock (even though its very nice, its still quite expensive when all I really need is a USB port).
Well guys, since youre all chickens ( ), I went ahead and tried charging and syncing at the same time myself...
I'll let the screenshot speak for itself
edit: fix'd the picture...
Canyou charge the galaxy s3 wirelessly and use otg at the same time? Do you think this would be possible on the nexus 4?
Has anyone tried this?

I would also like to know if this is possible! (on any device)
Galaxy SIII OTG + chariging = NO
I've tried this recently because I needed to know myself.
It is NOT possible to do USB OTG and wireless charging at the same time. Wireless charging simply disables the USB port. And when something is connected to the USB port wireless charging is ignored. Even when only a OTG cable is connected (no mouse or USB stick) wireless charging is not possible.
Sad but true
Edit:
The same applies for the Galaxy Nexus phone with it's pogo-pins for charging. One excludes the other.
The only device that I've found and tested to be capable of USB OTG and charging at the same time is the Nexus 7. (charging trough dock, pogo-pins).
Another way to accomplish USB OTG + charging is to use a edited kernel.. About to try this on de Galaxy Nexus.
I've got a TF700 with dock, a cable made by Asus and a cable made by someone else.
Here's my confusing situation. It's extremely slow when I was trying to copy files from PC to Tablet with my non-Asus cable plugged on the dock. But I can do it just fine when it's directly plugged on the Tablet. So I thought maybe my dock port is broken and my cable is fine. Then I switched to my Asus cable and plugged it on my dock, the transfer speed suddenly got back to normal, suggesting the port is fine.
so,
Non-Asus cable on dock = can't write nothing
Non-Asus cable on Tablet = ok
Asus cable on dock = ok
means both my non-Asus cable and my dock are fine. They just can't work with each other? How come? Isn't the port on dock the same thing to the port on Tablet?
In additional, under any circumstance, reading speed is normal.
Can tell you just from personal experince, USB transfer on my infinity was not great at all. Took longer to transfer 500 mb than it did to download it. I got an adapter with my 32gb microSD I recently purchased and have just decided to use that as my only means of transferring data between tablet and PC.
I'm wondering if its possible to charge the tablet while using usb. I would like to have a mouse dongle attached, but would also like to be able to charge the tablet at the same time if possible, is there a special cable for this? Will it even work for both at the same time?
