FM Radio for Canadian Galaxy S4 mini(SGH-1257m) - General Questions and Answers

Hello all,
I went through most of the relevant threads about this issue on xda forum but I still haven't been able to fix it.
Here is my situation in short: I have a SGH-1257m with Rogers in Canada. My android version is KitKat 4.4.2. As you might know the 1257m stock ROM does not come with FM radio app.
I successfully rooted my phone and I now have SuperSU but I don't want to change my ROM to i1990 or i1995. I followed the instruction here: http://www.s4miniarchive.com/2014/08/galaxy-s5-fm-radio-for-galaxy-s4-mini.html and it did install the radio app but it crashes every time.
Please note that if I did change my ROM to i1995, I could have FM radio as it is part of its stock ROM so I believe my SGH-1257m must also have FM radio tuner chip inside.
Any help is much appreciated.

Make a note of it then check the DHD Development Forum radio thread to see if it's there in which case you can install it again.
But if going to stock you'd probably flash a stock RUU which unlike a custom ROM will contain the stock radio too.
Guys don't know if this is useful however I found that sometimes the radio which comes with the ROM isn't always the best one to use. For example with ARHD 2.2 I was using Mike's ROM with the official radio, and I found my device would often disconnect during calls.
I switched over to LeeDroid and his suggested radio, and this worked absolutely fine. So I then tried Mike's ROM again with the radio for Lee's ROM and it worked a treat.
I'm based in Italy and not sure if the ROMs are tested by the guys when developing in the UK, but I've found you can play around a bit.

Back to stock

Hi Guys,
My girlfriend have a Nexus S and I just flashed an ICS ROM and almost everything is fine, but shes complaining about radio performance. Everything was fine with gingerbread but now she gats poor signal from 3G network.
I dint have too much experience with the Nexus because I used a Galaxy S and now I have a Galaxy S II. With this models I can aways get completely back to stock using Odin.
I was just wondering with this is possible with the Nexus S, so I can put that smartphone back to stock and tell her to wait for que OTA update.
Sorry if this is a dumb question here but, you know, this kind of things changes a lot between different models of Android smartphones.
go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063664 and make sure you download for correct phone model and flash in cwm
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116884
Or here to flash the radio you or she, had before
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
Change the Radio
what phone does she have? I9020T(t-mobile) or I9020a(AT&T) or I9023(international)?
usually ICS roms are coupled with the KI radio. Check if you have it in setting/about phone/baseband version
weak signals are usually caused by baseband/kernel. did you try flashing the stock ICS OTA?
My advice is just swap between KB3-KD1-KF1-and KI1
you might have stronger signal with one of them depending on your region.
Hope I helped
Hi guys!
Thanks a lot for the tips. I'll try to fix the signal thing first and if I can't I'll put the phone back to stock and wait for the OTA update.
Her Nexus S is a I9020a we bought in a travel to Canada and it worked ok in Brazil before flashing the ICS ROM.

The rom you have flashed contains the KI radio(works only on i9020t and i9023) and the rom itself also maybe incompatible for i9020a.
My advice is :
1-to download this ROM(its great)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1397358
2- download the new UCKF1 radio for i9020a:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116884
follow the steps for installing the rom found in the same thread(including wipes and Gapps)
after flashing, dont restart you phone, flash the UCKF1 radio, wipe dalvik and then reboot.
you should be ok
Ps. even if you flash back to stock it will not work, because the .Zip stock roms on XDA are all OTA and do not contain radios as I recall, just a Rom. If you happen to revert back to gingerbread stock, make sure you flash the radio too
Hi guys,
I liked the idea of flashing a stock rom for the i9020a again, but this stock ROMs are coming in a .tar package that I just cant flash using CWM.
I really sorry for this dumb questions, but I'm used to deal with stock ou custom ROMs with the Galaxy S and now with the Galaxy S II. With this models I just flash a stock ROM with Odin when I want to go back to stock. I don't know how to do this with the Nexus S and I couldnt find that newbie guide using the search. Sorry.

its for NS 4g, but should involve the same steps. Just use the NS files instead.
You need to have:
1-the Firmware TAR file
2-Bootloader file
3-Modem File
Best of luck

[Completed] [Q] How to I restore my HTC One M8 to pure stock? (Wifi not working!)

*I'm sorry if there is a similar post to this, but all posts I've looked through aren't detailed enough or are extremely out dated. Please direct me to the right place. Thank you so much! <3 *
How do I restore my HTC One M8 to the latest stock everything. (OS, firmware, android version, everything)
I'm not a total newbie in rooting and recoveries, but I just can't seem to find the difference between ROMS and firmware.
Here's what happened:
I was running 4.4.3 rooted on my M8, and then I flashed the MaximusHD ROM (because it had 4.4.4) So I thought, why do the OTA update and then install a ROM when I can just simply install a ROM that already has 4.4.4 installed. What happened then was I lost the ability to turn on wifi, which confused me.
On their post someone wrote that you need to update the firmware or else the wifi wouldn't work. This all got me extremely confused, so I tried to switch on a different ROM to see if the problem would be solved.
I switched over to Android Revolution 21.0, which is what I'm currently stuck on. So I just want to go back to stock HTC firmware and os or whatever it's called.
Here's some info about my device:
HTC One M8, international europe edition, unlocked
Android version: 4.4.4
Software number: 3.28.401.7
I can also add Kernel version, baseband version and build number, but are these necessary?
Thank you to anyone who helps me out with this, I am extremely grateful.
Hi there,
I'd suggest reviewing and having a look at this thread: [GUIDE] Return your European M8 to 100% Stock
Thank you and thread closed!

[Q] Advice plz Re flashed ROM on S4 (baseband problem)

I'd like some advice please on what to do next. I rooted then flashed my Samsung S4 with a new ROM named Imperium v16.1. Everything is fine except the classic issue of having little to no data connectivity. Wireless is fine and when people try to ring me it's fine. I try to ring out though I have to go into and exit airplane mode.
This is the first time I've flashing an android handset so I definitely put myself in the n00b category.
I'm at the stage that I just don't care what ROM I have I just need data connectivity to work again. Yes I was probably stupid it try it but you know what it's like. We all want to experiment!
I guess I have two questions. If I install another ROM will I just have the same problem? Also, from my research, I get the impression that the problem is that my handset's modem drivers/baseband(?) don't match the ROM. Is that accurate/likely?
Any advice or simple background into what's going on would be grand!!
Thanks community!

Your stock firmware was the outdated Jellybean 4.2.2. Flash latest stock firmware from HERE and you'll be able to use newer custom roms. And free user can cload with 300kb/s, don't be scared by the 15kb/s.
Thank you. I've got the download.. I'll give it a go this evening after work.
(wow the copy of Odin I picked up is full of bloatware.. Wonder if the source I got it from was a bit dodge)
That has worked beautifully! Thank you very much.
Gosh, I had forgotten how bloaty and boring the stock ROM is.

[Completed] samsung s2 gt i9100 dropping wifi issues kitkat 4.4.4

This might just piss everyone off but I am not a seasoned poster so here it is.
I rooted my phone using framaroot then installed CWM via rom manager then tried, neatrom, spirit, pacman, cyanogenmod. all are kitkat 4.4.4 based.
My problem is the wifi keeps disconnecting and connecting spasmodically, after that occasional behaviour though it tends to become dormant, with the toggle tile showing a grey colour. I dont know how to identify the cause, I have checked for hardware problems like the bat500 leak issue, tried setting manual ip settings etc. I am not familiar with all the settings in these more modern versions of android so maybe there is something basic I am missing.
I have done a bug report but have no idea what to look for
Phone specific details
Model: GT-I9100T
Country: New Zealand
Version: Android 4.1.2
Product Code: TNZ
PDA: I9100TDVLSH
CSC: I9100TTNZLSA
MODEM: I9100TDVLS3
was it because the phone has been rooted? or flashed with the incorrect recovery module. Can I recover from this and go back to the jelly bean 4.1.2 stock that was on there originally (i forgot to nandroid after rooting, in the haste of new rom fun, I know what a dickhead) I cant find any original stock JB files for my location.
Any help would be most valued.... Im not retarded but definately feel like it now that Ive been 24hrs trying to solve it.
Thanks in advance
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. Not all Wi-Fi issues are device related. Many of them are router related. Have you rebooted your router? Also, is it's firmware up to date?

It appears that this is a device specific issue, I have searched but cannot find any actual solutions to the problem...
When samsung put out the jb 4.1.2 update they did a crappy job with the modem and then pulled device support.
This issue as far as I can tell is to do with the modem and its drivers (I think) this issue developed with the upgrade to the new 4.1.2 JB stock rom. there were plenty of people having problems on a stock rom platform.
I am guessing that the custom roms dont fix this issue in kit kat 4.4.4 does anyone know if there is progress with the lollipop releases.
Does anyone know what I can do about it? should I open up some of the old threads?
thanks for your reply

It would be best to ask in the device specific threads. They are the experts on your device.
