Broken wifi/bluetooth - please help!!! - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
Although I have lurked here for years, I never joined (part of me too scared to and part of me did not have anything helpful to say haha).
But I come for help to I think the place that has all answers android related.
We run a retail store - and a customer recently purchased a large order of Motorola Moto Gs (boost mobile) from us - long story short he was having an issue with one of the phones (upgrading the firmware) and returned it to us. Due to our partnership with our distributor instead of trying to return it to them - we put up back on sale and it was sold very quickly! (yey)
But here is the thing, the original owner did some modding to them (they were meant to be used for wifi only) - he unlocked the phone and I guess he "flashed it via FastBoot commands" based on our communication.
He told us that to get warranty back we will need to restore it.
After time researching we found "firmware restore lock and more 4.4.3" on these forums. With help of guides and youtube videos we were able to get things up and running - installed motorola drivers on the computer, and then ran "restore us_retail_xt1032..." everything seemed to be fine - but things to get bit weird after as well.
Although this eliminated the warning about the phone being unlocked, now it causes the phone to restart (randomly) - although it seems to be fixed now. In addition, the wifi switch does not seem to want to come on (grayed out). Also, when we try turning on bluetooth - it seems to be turning on and then turning off after a few seconds (is that normal for it to do that? - if it is please ignore it).
Our biggest thing is getting wifi fixed for our future customer. Now please, when explaining how to fix this - please try to be as simple as possible (as if you were explaining this to your non-technology progressive family member).
Thank you for all the help!! :good::fingers-crossed:

bump.

[Q] The Phone part of my Phone kind of doesn't work anymore!?

I've got this Samsung Focus on AT&T, the other day I decided to force the newest update. I made sure I had all the correct languages and everything. The update went through and most of the phone works. (cellular connection is indeed corruption, and I know about the fix for that.)
Basically what's happening is, the Phone liveTile shows the accumulated missed calls but when I tap on it, the animation freezes then goes back to the homescreen. I can call people through the People app or by using TellMe, and people can call me. I suppose the only thing I can't do is check to see who has called me.
Is this a known issue? Is there a fix? please let me know! as for the backup...
Apparently the backup I did got corrupted in some way, so there's no going back to that (the currently existing back up for some reason is after the update, though I haven't tried using it yet).
restart it. if doesn't work. reset the phone
Yeah, I definitely tried restarting it. I even ran the Samsung tools and that didn't fix anything (including my data issue... I tap on "cellular" in the settings and it doesn't open. ****e.) To modify a classic Bill Gates quote... "I guess that's why they're not shipping 8107 yet."
I think I have an old mango back up from the fall, but oh jeez, that's a lot of backtracking.
I'll keep refreshing this thread to see if any experts have any ideas for a little bit, after a while I'll just reset the phone I guess.
The phone app thing isn't a huge deal at the moment, but no cellular data?! How am I supposed to win arguments without a cellular data connection?
read the thread more carefully, and apply the correct updates - core os update is not enough...just read...please!
Bad update, you need correct language file, i had the same problem on my Titan... Phone live tile, in settings Mobile network etc doesnt work after bad update.
I had the following in my cab sender folder:

Will simple reapplying work perhaps? I mean, I'm pretty sure those are the only ones I needed, I did read the thread quite a few times.
Update reapplied and now it's working!!!!
Now I just need to figure out my internet sharing issue.

[Q] Lg Optimus 2x p990 baseband and driver issues.

Hi guys. Love this site but I am encountering some issues! I am having problems with the drivers (it appears), of my p990h. I am new to android (only had my device a week), and have duly thrown myself in the deep end to try and make the most from the device and have encountered some issues. I am in Colombia and bought the phone here. I ‘rooted’ the device using the ‘Super One Click’ method and had no issues. I then performed the fatory reset and installed the ‘Cm9.0.0-rco-p990-unofficial’ rom (build [email protected]). I didn’t experience issues up to this point. However (and i know i messed up here), i then flashed baseband version 1035.21_20110725 using smartflash. Big mistake as then the time on the phone changed all to European time, and now although the device can be read by my computer, it cannot connect to it and a yellow exclamation appears on the device in device manager. I have tried everyway to update this, but no joy. Tried reflashing with smartflash, but now nothing happens when the phone is connected (nothing appears in the ‘coms port’ box). If i use the lg tool, it doesn’t even list my p990 as a device whose drivers i can download.
So basically I would like to know if anyone can help me:
a) get the drivers working properly again so I can connect the device and update.
And
b) if anyone can get me the 1035.21_20110602 baseband files to go back to how it was previously. Have looked everywhere but no luck. I downloaded one, but i cant seem to find a way to use use it (it appears as a clockworkmod folder and macosx folder. I haven’t used them as i couldn’t figure out how!
May i need to re-root my device, could this be the issue? This had occurred to me that the superuser settings may have something to do with this.
I also want to be able to restore my phone to its stock settings as i really need my camera back up and going properly whilst here in Colombia.
I have spent the last week trawling these forums reading everyone’s posts and learning from you guys, so a big thanks out there to you all who have got me this far – many thanks. Seems like a great community and im looking forward to getting more involved, and learning about the murky waters of android (even though im having some difficulties i love it!) . I apologise for any poor wording and general noobiness that may cause any misunderstanding! I will try and answer any questions/replies i may get as accurately as possible.
I really hope someone can help me as I cant keep going in circles – i have a 12 hour bus ride tomorrow so gotta get it done.
Many thanks in you lovely people!
try flash a new rom CM7

Locked out of phone in China!! :/ S6 SM-920F

Hi!
So I have a Galaxy S6 which came with a Dutch T-mobile package. On my way to China, where I moved a few weeks ago for an indefinite period, I cracked the screen and brought it to the local repairman to fix. That went perfectly well, but the phone didn't recognize my fingerprint anymore and I forgot my backup password. That's why I performed a factory reset, and that's where the real trouble began.
After the reset, I tried setting up the phone again, and got to the Samsung reactivation screen. I entered my account info, and provided the password for the wifi, after which the phone connected to wifi (with the corresponding message), but after a few seconds I get a pop up message saying "Unable to connect to the Internet" - even though the wifi symbol would still flash its arrows in the upper right corner. Thus, I can't get past this screen nor in my phone, which is quite a devastating fact as a poor new expat in China . Tried several other wifi networks, to no avail.
My guess is that it's the Great Firewall of China acting here, somehow preventing the phone to connect to the Samsung (and/or Google) network to check my info. I don't know if this is correct, the Samsung helpdesk couldn't say for sure as well, but I really really want to find a workaround here. Once I get the phone working again I can install a VPN to have the Google stuff working in China, but this way I can't get to that point. Now I am completely new to rooting/ installing ROMS and the works, but I am willing to try anything to get this expensive piece of electronics to work out here.
Any helping comment is an absolute lifesaver, and I will name my firstborn child after you!!
Thanks so much!
All the best, Maarten
EDIT: I made some screenshots, but appearantly I am not allowed to post outside links yet.

Assistance with (partial)Bootloop and Locked Bootloader.

Hey there forums.
I've been an active browser of XDA but never really created an account but I've done so to have assistance with a particular situation with my device.
So the other week, i had spent 150 dollars on a Sony Xperia XA F3115 from Vodafone, Australia and it turns out that the bootloader was locked because of Vodafone and i wasn't going to pay 50 dollars to unlock it. I alternated and browsed the internet (Mostly XDA but other sources aswell) to figure out if there were any methods of bypassing this, whether it be easy or not - I was willing to try anything that seemed like it had a chance to work, without a 100% failure rate. Reading responses to particular methods, i was drawn into one method of just reflashing the stock firmware onto the device and then rooting, flashing and doing everything from there (as the device was no longer locked by Vodafone at that point).
I have completed this task as of this morning, and the device booted successfully. As soon as i unlocked my device, i had received the general android setup window but half way through, i got spammed with "Name has stopped responding" countless times to the point where the phone was literally unusable, it would just pop up again right after closing it - So i decided to restart the device. This was probably a big mistake, it booted fine but it said "Android is updating" and had the whole "Applications updating 100 out of 255" stuff happening. Then it booted to the lock screen, which i had previously setup before i flashed the device which didn't really surprise me too much.
Then it rebooted. Now every single time i boot the device, it reboots to the "Optimizing apps blah out of blah" and then will reboot upon the notification bar popping up, but no lock screen. I decided that my best cause of action was to download another firmware and try that one instead, but I'm unable to boot my device into bootloader mode as it's impossible to happen. I turn off my device, plug it in and hold the volume down button but it refuses to work anymore.
Now that the situation has been explained, I'd really like your help to see if i can have this resolved. I'm baffled as to why Vodafone even locked it to begin with, since the phone was prepaid and had nothing to do with any sort of plans - nor was it even available as a plan. I don't have the money to buy a new phone, and they have already denied me a refund. I need this phone for work and the mistakes i made were stupid - Please, i need assistance. You're all hopefully more tech savvy than i am in the field of mobile phones.

Looking for help with Factory Reset Protection (or USB debugging)

Background: my wife arrived home yesterday with a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 2016 model (SM-P585) that had been written off by her company due to lockscreen protection being enabled and no one knowing who the last person was that it was issued to.
I kid you not.
Anyhow, one quick Odin flash later and it's booting up happily. However, FRP was enabled and now requires sign-in from the last person to have signed in on it, which is unknown. So I find myself one last step away from an awesome - and surprisingly well looked after - tablet but with no idea of what to do about FRP.
I've done a fair amount of reading and, outside of all those sites that seem to be run by the same Asian gent who is adamant I can only do it with his absolutely-not-suspicious-at-all application, understand that I can either flash 1) a combination file or 2) an old firmware in which the old workarounds are still effective, both of which will allow me to bypass it, but neither of which will work without USB debugging enabled and that can only be done via the developer options. And obviously I can't get to that.
If anyone has any advice on how I can make this work in my favour without having to get rid of it, I would sincerely appreciate it.
Alternatively, if this is the wrong place to post this question, a quick point and a kick in the ass in the right direction.
[Quick edit] I have no issues with rooting if that's what's required. Again, requires developer tools so...
Hint: Add " SM-P585 " to front of this thread's titel thus mainly people who owns such device get addressed, too.
I thought of that, but I don't believe this is an issue limited to my specific device model. I think it could apply to most, if not all, Android devices at some point.
