[Q] Arabic language for HTC 1 M8 - General Questions and Answers

A Syrian guy bought HTC 1 M8, it still new, so I don't know what's the android version but it's the default one. He came to me for help.
He wants the whole system to be translated to Arabic, and that language isn't available. According to this video, if we just force stopped customization settings provider, it will allow us to select the Arabic language from settings.
Is It correct? Is it that simple? Don't I need to root it and stuff? What happens if he restarts the device?

i used "AE Button Plus" on Diamond 1 and it worked great. but it doesn't work anymore on HD Mini. any idea why?
my HD Mini is english version. if i set my location to Hong Kong, google map & opera will switch to chinese menu. but if i set my location to USA, 2 mentioned apps also will become english menu (which is what i want) but then all calls will be in "(123)456-78" format NOT 12345678. how can i just set all apps to english menu yet calls will display as 12345678 format?

have you tried restoring to factory settings (and backing up all of your data)?
That usually always works.
Perhaps go to settings and change main language to english.
(1) my phone is brand new out of the box, so i doubt hard reset is the root cause.
(2) i changed to english, app menu displays in english but all phone calls will then display in this (123)456-78 format! i NEED it to display in 12345678 format.
any1 knows if there's registry hack for these?
anyone please?

Navigon work-around to change voice? Different language.

I want Norwegian voice for my Navigon GPS (as the street names sound weird in English), but I want the rest of my phone in English.
I tried renaming the Norwegian sound files to English and vice versa, but that didn't work.
I can live with the program being in Norwegian, but the best would be English everything (minus voice).
Any ideas? Thanks!
Is this in the right section?
Bump........

hello there. did you find the answer? i need it too
I've found a solution!!!
Apparently it only works if you change the language of your entire system. But sometimes you haven't got the proper language or you don't wanna change. Then you can use the app morelocale2. I've found this on another bbs.
1. Download MoreLocale2 app from the market and install it.
2.Choose your language
3.Open Navigon and it will automatically detect your selected language and use it for UI and SOUNDS.
Doubt it...

I strongly doubt this approach, morelocale2 just gives you more languages it does not fix this specific issue, when you switch to a different locale you make the whole phone change its locale, not just Navigon. The point here was to try and change the Navigon's audio language WITHOUT changing the locale.
Solutions, anyone?
have anyone found a solution for this ?

[Q] Facebook dialogs in french - cant read them

Hi,
i've recently bought the htc one x with android icecream sandwitch i guess.
my problem is that, the facebook dialogs, which are used to allow apps to connect to facebook, are in french. My phone language is german. Does anyone know how to change that, if it is possible ?
That's strange...are you sure you did not install Facebook in French?
You could try to remove and reinstall it.
Another thing I can suggest is to try installing morelocale2(you find it in the market) and select german as your language, hoping it will uniform it as the main language of all apps.
Ok i tried both methods, these dialogs are still french. Although i was not able to remove the facebook app completely. I just could remove the update as this semms to be build into the rom. Any other ideas?
I'll attach a screenshot so that u can see what i mean.
Anyone figure this out? I just picked up my HTC One X and it is doing the same thing. I want mine in English!
i noticed, that opening facebook in the browser also gives me a french page by default. You can change the language on the webpage though. Still the screens within apps appear french for some apps.
This is getting really annoying

[Q] Ok Google Everywhere? (No root)

I am trying to setup the 'Ok Google Everywhere' feature on my OPO, but I am having some problems. Under settings, voice, ok google detection, I can only select and deselect 'From the Google Search app', and I do not have any other options. How can I enable this feature? Could it be that I can't as I am in Italy? I have update 38R and I am full stock, and not rooted. My phone arrived on Friday and is brand new.
I want to know these too! I wish it could works even with the screen out... it is possible?
thanks!
As far as I am aware the Ok Google everywhere only works with the language (for google now) set to US English, still doesnt work for UK English either .
Set your language to that and the options should now be available but of course if you use Italian its pretty useless for you!

If you want to add a language then
Open “Google Play Store” on your device.
Tap on “Search” and type “locale select” in the search box.
Tap on “Set Locale and Language” app, which should be the first result.
Tap on “Download” and then on the “Accept & download” button.
Wait until the app gets installed.
Now, go to the system settings of your device and choose from the new installed languages in the “Language and Input Settings” option.
Set the language you want from the available list.

It is possible to reflash diffrent firmware on this phone, after googling i find out probably only known way to do it, its with "Infinity best nk2" program, which requires Dongle, and it cost more than new phone or 2, if you not repairing phones, its basicly not worth to buy device designed for old devices, my required firmware called 'TA-1030__059X9V2__11.02.11__NDT_EURO_EH_GREY_LATIN_LT.zip" which is exactly what i need on phone, but without Dongle you cant use infinity best nk2, and download that firmware, thats probably only info i discovered how to add new languages to that phone, and im not sure if my 3310 is not china clone or refurbished by using some original parts, becouse firmware is diffrent, not original, so it probably wont even flash.
Those dongles and other things are just stupid, good that we ended up that era of phones and now we can flash for free, with android, those greedy nerds with dongles can choke on it
Here is link to all firmwares
[files] flashfiles/N-3310-2G/TA-1030/
But obviously you need DONGLE, maybe for someone who have dongle can use this or download and share to others
At some point someone will have to learn how to flash that phone, so we have to dig ourselfs all information about it.
