Hey XpiroettaBoom !
You Can Get Your Data like Pics & Whatsapp data/backup by Connecting Your Mobile To PC in Internal Memory DCIM Folder is commonly PICS folder Captured by the Camera...
Or You Can Use MOBILedit – PC Suite For All Phones To Get Your Data.....
Or Otherwise This is CWM Method as You Want To Proceed....
Goto your RecoveryMode... IN CWM its good that it works with Hardware buttons...
Below is A Pic of CWM You can Follow the Pic To Judge....
Press 5 times Volume - (down) Button To Go into Backup & restore Option while You are in CWM
One thing I've To confirm If we use External SDcard than We have To Press 6 Times Because "Install Zip From SDcard1" shows up in Menu...

Cant select anything in recovery mode

Hello!
I really need your help, I'm stuck!
I'll try to explain what happened.
I decided to change my Samsung Captivates ROM, did all stuff which was listed in tutorials 1:1.
Downloaded Clockwork recovery manager, created that update.zip file using it.
Moved my new ROM to sd card. Then selected an option "Install rom from sd card" in Clockwork recovery manager.
Phone rebooted...
And that's all, know I can't do completely nothing, I mean I just cant use volume and power buttons to select items in menu. It's just frozen.

I found similar topic, maybe this is reason?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=869781
Anyway, I need you help, as that topic didn't helped me, as I dont know what people were talking about there.
I can view internal memory files using Droid Explorer, but I can't view sdcard's data to remove that update.zip...
What can I do in this situation?
Many thanks!
that is just worst day for me. After applying older version of Clockwerk, I was able to select in recovery menu.
I selected format user data, and after selected to install Fenix rom.
During installation, some kind of error occurred. And only thing i can see, it is At&t flash logo on my screen.
If I try to enter into recovery mode, power button (select) isn't working, only up and down buttons are working...
just one question:
What should i do? damnit...
installed in download mode.
Thanks to this guy, his screencasts 're just epic.
maybe it will help someone else

Backup Data?

Hey i want to Backup my complete Android 4.0 on my HD2, because i want to change the partitions...
So how can i backup my:
-apps
-contacts
-words in keybord
-calender
as easy as possible pls
boot into the recovery mode and select backup. can't make that easier.
this will make a nandroid backup of your whole phone to the sdcard, it will be a folder with images of the various mounts and is a complete system with everything in its current state. using the same tool you can also restore it. Since you want to adjust the partitions, the size of these images will also give you a good guideline of how large system and cache need to be minimally with your current rom setup.
ok thanks, thats an good answer
can u give me a short tutorial?
i cant find the backup button...
reading you wanted to backup your ICS rom, i figured you had just another android phone which pretty much all have clockworkmod as recovery mode installed. I have no experience with the HD2 though, which is original a windows phone. Dunno if that matter and if maybe you have a different recovery console to boot into?
basically it should look similar to this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
one of the menu items should say "backup and restore" or just "Nandroid" (which is the name of the rom backup software). either way, select that and you'll enter a submenu where the choices "backup" or "restore" should be self explanatory. Backup will create a backup folder in sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/ and with restore you can navigate to backup files on the sdcard.
It could be that you have a different recovery console, then let me know which one. (similar to the pic above it will have the name on the top of the screen, or it will say somewhere like "build:"). Though most alternatives have a backup option too in a similar fashion.
ok thanks i found it now
really great help
Your welcome, glad you fixed it.

if i want to backup ervything, but want to use another rom (no android ics) how can i backup?
Nandroid backup and look at Rom toolbox for the app manager. I think it's better than titanium.
Nandroid from Recovery/Rom Manager for an entire Image Backup.
Titanium Backup App for bits and pieces like user data.
use My Phone Explorer..
its awesome..
u need to have it in phone and a client on system.
Auto Sync.
good feature

Wierd cwm backup behaviour

Okay, so today I took a cwm backup of my current rom, cm music ed v4...{cwm v5 by tj_style}
I have a habit of uninstalling all less-than-frequently used apps, clearing cache, removing other unimportant stuff etc...so that my cwm backup remains relatively small in size (that way I can keep 4-5 backups simultaneously on my sd card)
Before starting, I checked that I had filled almost ~250mb of my 512mb sd-ext partition...and I had around ~4gb free space on my 16gb card...
However, it took a staggering 1.5 hours to complete my backup! (Normally, it averages to 15-25 minutes)
When I then try to restore my backup, it got stuck at "checking md5 sum" for around 15mins, after which I pulled out the battery, and reflashed the rom (rather than restoring it)
So, in an attempt to find out what went wrong, I checked the cwm backup, only to find that the entire backup was close to 3.5gb in size!!
(The wierd part was, based on previous experience, the backup shouldn't have exceeded 450mb max)

}
Everything inside the backup was normal, except the sd-ext tar, which was super-inflated...
Inside the tar, there was only a "lost+found" folder (while there should have been other folders as well), and there were only a few big files (very big) and LOTS of other numerous very-small files in it...
The big files aren't extractable, hence I don't know what made them so large...
So I am just troubleshooting the problem, trying to learn what may have happened/gone wrong...
{When i reflashed the rom, cm musc ed v4, everything was working fine, including the sd-ext partition
The recovery also is working fine, except the backup and restore part}
Help would be appreciated...
(P.s. don't tell me to use different recovery/rom/sd card, since that is not my purpose, I want to know the exact problem)

CM10 Alpha 3 ONLY.
there is a problem with usb mass storage after using this mod, my computer doesn't read the external SD card..
when i connect my phone to my computer, i could only see the internal SD on my computer
When I used this, it work nicely, USB storage and SD card can be read by the computer, thanks for that. But I found a litle bug that nags me much, when I try to take a screenshot it work, but when I'm lookin for the picture, I only found a gray picture inside the Screenshot folder. Have any solutions?

That bug is not related with this tweak. I take screenshots and it works perfectly.
Found the bug, take a look at the 1st pic:

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And the 2nd pic:
Did you notice the second pic, that the Screenshot folder tag with USB has 24 pic while inside the folder (1st pic) only has 2 pic and the rest filled with gray pic (whatever you called). This problem can be solved by, going into the picture folder on usb, delete or move your screenshot picture (don't delete the Picture folder on USB), take a screenshot and you will find a new folder with your screenshot pic inside it. That's my way and i only test it on my phone.
Edit: Forgot to mention, the grey pic on the 1st picture, is a failed screenshot. That's what i get when i try to screenshot.

[Q] Nandroid backup

I made a nandroid back up and copied the file onto my computer, after have a screw while installing a rom I have erased everything on my phone. Now i cant work out how to install my back up. Its 2.8gig and i have copied it back on my phone but cant get my phone to register that there is a back up on it. Any help guys? Much appreciated.
If u have any custom recovery installed on your like Clockwork Mod then just switch off your phone --> press power button then when logo appears->> press the Volume down button rapidly then a screen will appear then use volume down button to scroll down to Backup and restore option --> press power button to select then browse to the last backup made

The phone is not registering the back up file. It is essentially just a 2.8 gig file doing nothing.

That has sort of worked. The back up is in there and it can be seen. But when i tell it to restore it its just goes to the standard boot up screen. and when i restart the phone its back to were it was before.
Thankyou for your help so far though.
try to wipe everything and than restore
Pretty much it's just booting normally, rather then in clockwork recovery.
I'm sorry that I can't help you more on this,but thank you very much for giving me 'thanks '.
Actually I am also new to android,just on November of 2012.I joined Xda few weeks ago.I know little about android.Will you be my friend?
