[Q] Cracked digitizer on Z3 D6616 - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the T-Mobile Z3 and unfortunately cracked the digitizer. I work on phones for a living but still new at it (about 6 months). I found that the Z2 assembly is so very close to the z3. Can I use Z2 assembly in my Z3? Thanks in advance, y'all.

Changing from Xperia Z to Bell phone or new Chinese phone?

Hi! I currently have a Sony Xperia Z C6606 with Bell, and was wondering if it was worth upgrading or not. My phone have a problem with the earphone jack (only one ear work), and since rainwater got in, the small thing inside the port is now red. Because of that, Bell says that it's water damaged (which is not, as it was working w/o problem until I most likely used too much force with the jack), so now I need to pay 250$+ to get a new phone since mine is not available anymore. That's why I was thinking of either getting a most likely new phone for 250$ or so (I'll ask if it's possible to get a recent phone), or get a phone from China. The phone in question I was thinking about was the Kolina K100+ MTK6592T 2GB Ram IPS FHD for ~170$ CAD. What do you guys think? Go for the new phone for roughly 250$ or get the Chinese one? If I get either, I'll give the Xperia to my dad's wife, so it's a good way to get rid of it. Thanks! ^^

Buying the Z3 over the coming Z5

Hi,
I wanna buy the Sony Z3 although it has been out the market for a while since September last year, i'm still impressed by its design however, i would like to ask you guys here about it, should I wait for the Z5 or buy the Sony Z3 which is a bit cheaper at the moment.
Personally, I prefer the Z3 (lower price, better design - my personal point of view, and still adapt almost everything one smartphone needs to have .. )
How about you guys and is there any owner of Z3 can give me some more suggestions ?
Thanks a lot
Go for Z3 it's cheaper and performance is not very different than Z5

Any Way to insure Overseas Xperia Z5 in US/Fingerprint Sensor on Xperia X?

Hey all... my t-mobile z3 D6616 recently took some water damage (funny I know) and of course they cannot replace it with a z3. So I'm shopping for a new phone.
But I don't want to purchase half a phone. I'm wondering if there is a way to insure an overseas model xperia with the fingerprint sensor or if the newest xperias in the US will have a sensor.
I'm done buying phones from the carrier. It makes insuring them easy but it really sucks because I'm very loyal to sony and it's hard to find them here.
My z3 still works but the camera is fried. I've got t-mobile to forgive part of the money owed on it but I'm still fighting for more from them. In the meantime I'm gonna buy one of these as a beater until I find something I like and the means to insure it... https://www.amazon.com/BLU-Vivo-Air...d=1467090484&sr=1-1&keywords=blu+vivo+air+lte
Any advice would be most helpful. Thanks in advance.

Broke Z2 motherboard and now i'm searching for a replacement

Hello.
I just broke my z2 motherboard by using a third party magnetic charger and plugging it backwards. Now my motherboard is toast.
I want to ask if i can replace it with a z3 motherboard, or if it has to be a z2 one, because the z3 seems to have the same connectors....
Right now I have a broken z2 and i was thinking of buying a z2 or z3 with broken screen, since it's quite cheap, and then replace the motherboard, or take the screen from my z2 and put it on that phone.
So my two questions are:
Can the screens from z2 and z3 be swapped or are they not compatible?
Can the motherboards from z2 and z3 be swapped or are they not compatible?
did you find an answer for "Can the motherboards from z2 and z3 be swapped or are they not compatible?" ?

Replacement parts

Slippery phone means cracked glass. Broke my back glass and was thinking of repairing it myself. The process is very simple but there are no replacement back glass to be found!
Does anyone know any place that sell them and ships internationally? Or do I have to keep my daily routine of checking ebay, every single day?
Dust has already creeped in the cracks and one particle went all the way to the camera sensor. Now I have a distant bird flying on all my photos.
Many thanks in advanced if someone can give me a tip where to buy.
Xperia is not really a popular so I would not hold my breath. Your best bet is to check something from Japan with the help of google translate.
Other than that, check with your local Sony dealer (expect that to cost the same as a new phone).

Already reached to local supplier, they had nothing. There are lots of back housing plates for last year Xperia 5 and apparently for X1 ii (these are pretty fresh) which should indicate that X5 ii is on the way.
Witrigs already has replacement parts for the Xperia 1 ii and the Xperia 5 so I expect that it will have some for the Xperia 5 ii soon.
I have already ordered from them in the past for other phones and I was very satisfied. They also have disassembly/assembly videos.

90$ for X1 ii back glass I hope the X5 ii glass won't be as expensive. Have to wait to get the price down.

Unfortunately I expect similar prices for the Xperia 5 ii.
However, sometimes they also sell custom (non OEM) parts for a better price. But then it probably won't be gorilla glass.
Don't have any cracks on my phone as I use a case since day one but I understand your frustration. It will probably take a few months before it is available.
I don't get the whole concept of new phones being all glass and metal. It is like the most unpractical combo of materials you can imagine. 90s phones were all plastic and my parents are still using them today, no cracks.
