I've been a fan of Franco's work since I bought my Samsung GNEX..
He's agreed to work on Dev'ing a Kernel for our phones.. But he lives out of country.
That being said he needs a phone.. Phones are going for between $400 - $550 on swappa so let's set that as our goal.
Here is an example of his work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1708763
He has agreed to support the Bounty process here.. https://plus.google.com/10687350010...jNUg5#106873500108976028532/posts/imxHBDjNUg5
Click the Donation Link here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/donatetome.php?u=3292224
please reply in this thread if you donate.. So we can keep track..
Franco is an extremely talented developer, and one of the few that seriously know how to code a great modified kernel.
Put me down for $20 to start!
Thanks. I think this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1367341 is a much better example of my work
It's hard to keep track Franco You do so many good kernels
My only question is can you give an "Updated" link so the paypal donation comes in to you as "marked" for this project? I don't want you to have to keep track
--paul
Dunno if thats possible. But I'll consider all the following donations for this, even if its outside this thread.
Def get him this phone guys ! Ran it from my gnex and it was great ! He updates alot, has great customizations , stable reliable. He usually adds new fixes patches and his work speaks for itself. Hes a good guy as well .

Will the kernel for VZW work for TMO as well ? If yes, then can I post the link for this thread on Tmobile forums as well ?

Judging by other kernels, it seems like only minor edits would be needed. Many folks here are running att and other kernels.
I'm not the one you need an answer from however so I will step aside

Just giving this a bump.
OP should set an exact goal price as well as how much we have pledged.
OP , please update the total.
Also how does this work? Do i donate first or commit to donate if the goal is reached? What if I donate and the goal isn't reached?

I agree, actually, OP really should have taken a bit more time to formulate the post.
Honestly we either need to revise the OP with more information and a running total, or just close the thread and have someone start a new one who can manage it.
Franco, will you be able to enable call recording?

Are you or anyone else interested in setting up a well-formulated [BOUNTY] thread here then?
We can request a moderator to close this one, and we can set up a new one with a clear number goal, and we can keep it updated, then collect the money at once if we reach the goal number (isn't that how it's usually done?).
I'm sure we can do it, something like $450 between all of us SGS3 users who love Franco's work can certainly get that.

Clean ROM with Franco kernel would be unstoppable.

I can't believe this didn't get off the ground. I'd be in for $50 if Franco would still honor the offer he made.
I noticed this today and figured I would create a new post so that many of us who are sick of being messed around by Google who simply refuse to acknowledge the issue, can actually do something about it.
The only way big companies like Google actually do anything is when it becomes public. They hope that they can just sit out the warranty period and then brush it all under the carpet. If you are frustrated and think that they owe you a simple software fix (this is agreed to be the most likely culprit affecting the noise cancellation mic), then put your voice where it's heard and have them fix your phone so that it actually works the way it should have from the start! It's pretty clear that in the 'L' preview the issue still exists, which essentially means they don't intend to do a thing about it.
https://www.change.org/p/google-fix-microphone-issues-on-nexus-5-phones
Or sit back and let them screw you over for $400 and take your money for a new phone.
So, what is the issue you're having?

Quite surprised that with around 36,000 posts between the pair of you that you haven't come across probably the most talked about issue with the N5?
Really?
Most talked about issue? It doesn't look like it from this forum.

Well @simms22 hit the nail on the head so not sure why you're including him in your 36,000 posts. Its pretty high profile issue. Hard to miss. There is a thread on page 1 of this forum every day.

i just pointed it out to jd1639, im staying out of it past that. that removes the majority of the posts there, in one shot
Anything that makes this phone even better is worth supporting. Best of luck.
The point is LG doesn't know how to perfect the Noise cancellation algorithm
Look @ their G2 and G3 same issue
The post was simply to give the numerous people with this issue a potential avenue for a fix. I didn't mean for this to be a debate.
Change.org does some pretty good things, and raising public awareness of a major company who is absolutely trying to ignore an issue that most of the support people know about when you call is just wrong.
Sign the petition,or don't. If you have a problem with the phone then you most likely will be interested.
Thanks.
You have to use the report button if you want it closed. Unlikely anyone will see your link if you let it die.

The links are a good cross section of the microphone related issues for those who may not have come across the threads.

Looking for testers that are experience flashers lol I will be checking you XDA info. It's for a new g935t ROM. If you recognize me or my screen name and want to test let me know. Will be released soon.

And might I add that if anyone here doesn't know ADB or basic root troubleshooting such as pulling a logcat then you really shouldn't be so quick to want to test.
You will probably be doing more harm than good for both yourself and for the developer. He's expecting bugs. As a "tester" it'll be your job to find and report them. Not to complain about stability, make suggestions or demand ETA's.

What?
If he's testing a rom... which has a newer thread than this which is gathering feedback from willing participants in that thread... why the hell would he still be looking at this one for testers when he already has dozens of them on the newer one? The only reason why this thread is even still open is because the mods haven't closed it yet.
I'm very much aware of what I read. In fact, I've been testing his rom since before it went public. I've tested his aroma version and will continue testing more. In other words, I know a lot more of the subject matter and I firmly believe that I understand perfectly.

Well the questions should be where the links are posted. Keep it simple. Otherwise, it's just more clutter and duplicate posts.
As a developer, why should you want to check two threads for one rom? He has members downloading his betas and posting feedback and discovered bugs there already.
There is literally zero purpose for this thread now... but that's for the OP and mods to decide.
Since the OP has a thread for his ROM now and this one is going nowhere fast...

In the amount of time you wait for someone to spoon feed you your required information, you could have downloaded it, installed and be running it and find out how this works for you.
I have no idea why so many people are so afraid to try something for themselves. If this be the case then flashing is not for you... or is it just most of you have become that lazy.
Sorry for the rant but this need most people here on XDA to be handed everything and not do for yourselves has gotten out of hand.

I do understand both sides to be honest. I understand some people do expect to be "spoon fed" and have no intention of trying anything on their own or contributing. I also understand asking a few question here and there. I personally regret not being able to try every new thing that comes out, I work 50+ hours a week and rely on my phone for work, so I can't always be the first to jump in there and test new ROMs even though I would enjoy doing so.
It's not really my place to point out what was said by anyone in the past, I just couldn't help but notice. Honestly, when I read your original posts, I agreed with them for the most part, but I do see the other side, wanting a few details before wasting time. No hard feelings I hope, this the end of off-topic discussion from me in this thread. My apologies to the OP.
I might test this tonight. Any good? whats working, vs whats not?

Working great so far. Haven't messed with the speakerphone, but I never use it anyway. The only issue I've noticed so far is video playback in Facebook isn't working. It only plays briefly than stops on most videos. Playback works elsewhere. Could be a FB issue. I've noticed most Nougat ROMs I've used are VERY snappy. This one especially.

For those feedback there's a thread in the About xda-developers section. And they didn't removed support, it's because the forum moved to Xenforo, so it doesn't work the way it used to internally. Tapatalk would need an update to work, and rn this isn't a priority.
Now I know, the new app is mostly a webview app and stuff, but since it's the only one that works rn I'll take it, especially when this app has a good notification system (XDA Labs never notified me).
If you're still not to a fan of this app, the mobile website work well too
Have a good day
Thanks for the insight. Mod, please delete thread.
