[Completed] [Q] Need help getting through device encryption - XDA Assist

So I've been using liquidsmooth on my Virgin Mobile Galaxy s3 for quite a while now and ive never been able to receive 4g since. I decided to go online and get a stock rom for it and i wiped everything and installed it. when i rebooted, everything was normal but then it asked me for a password to unencrypt my phone storage. I dont remember encrypting it while on the regular android os but I did on liquidsmooth and removed it by resetting the phone before. Shouldnt wiping the whole phone have gotten rid of it? I am just lost right now ,please help!

[Completed] SGS3 i747m keeps Booting into android system recovery

Hi everyone,
My SGS3 keeps Booting into the android system recovery.
Some info about what I have done:
The phone is over 2yrs old. Had worked like a piece of fine machinery even after I cracked the screen a few months back. After that I decided I'd root. I did a search and I used the method provided by chainfire. It was quick and easy. Worked great. Kept it stock and only uninstalled bloat. I recently picked up the s5 and rooted it as well using the chainfire method but this time I installed a custom rom. xtrestolite to be exact. Works good so far. It was easy enough to install so I decided to flash a rom into my s3.
Well it didn't turn out too good. During the process it failed. The rom was slimkat. After that it won't boot. I didn't install a custom recovery like I did with the s5. At the time I didn't do too much research. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've done some searches and I've followed them all. I checked if the buttons are stuck. Rest, wipe, battery pulls. nothing Helped

[Completed] [Q] IMEI Question/Flash Question

This has probably been covered before but I couldn't find the topic and I apologize if there is a specific area for these sorts of questions and I ask that this topic be moved there if need be. Anyway, I have an unlocked Galaxy S3 which I purchased off Ebay and activated on MetroPCS. The activation went fine, the IMEI is clean, but my question is, if I install a custom ROM will it change my IMEI? And if so, what sort of problems could that cause for my phone being able to use data or make phone calls? I've never flashed a custom ROM to a phone before so I'm not sure if it CAN change the IMEI, I was just warned by a friend that after he flashed his, the last few digits for his changed and he had to call his provider and it voided his contract. I have installed custom ROMs before but they were on an android based MP3 player so I never had to worry about an IMEI, however I enjoyed the special features that ROM had compared to the stock ROM and was wanting to have similar features on my phone.
Also on an unrelated note, my girlfriend had an old Galaxy S2 that sat in her closet for about 2 years. It had stopped working so she packed it up and was about to throw it away until I decided to fiddle around with it. It's model number is SPH-D710 so it doesn't look like a traditional Galaxy phone, so holding the home button does not help me boot into download or recovery mode. My problem with it, it doesn't boot up, it stays at the Galaxy SII screen and doesn't move passed that, Odin fails when attempting to flash a ROM onto it (Custom or recovery), and holding vol up+home+pwr does not boot it into recovery. She told me her brother previously rooted it with a custom ROM (No idea which) and it worked for some time before ****ting the bed. My theory is that he did a poor job at flashing and somehow removed the recovery menu completely and so the phone is stuck as a soft brick. That would mean my only option to save it would be to flash it but it fails every time. Is there anything more I can do to save it or should I just scrap it for parts?
EDIT: I went for it and installed it. IMEI is still the same and phone works fine as a phone. Currently my only issue is that it can't read my SD card nor can I copy files to or from my SD card to my computer. I have windows 8 and it says unspecified error when I try. Is this a problem with cyanogenmod or did I kill my SD card when I flashed?

[Completed] usb problems on a rooted J100H with twrp recovery - advice please

Hi all,
advice needed please. I've been using my Samsung J100H with out any issues for the last 4 months. I rooted as soon as I got it, and a couple of days ago I got TWRP on to it as well. My problem is that I was trying to flash TWRP with Odin, and had some kind of connection drama before I got as far as flashing anything (wasn't recognising the handset in download mode and I was trying different connections and cables). In the end I flashed TWRP with Rashr and it worked perfectly. Since then I can't get my handset to connect to any desktop/laptop. tried both W7 and Linux. All drivers are correctly installed and previously working fine.
So is this a firmware issue? And if so, will flashing back to stock sort that out? And if I do that I will presumably lose root?

[Completed] samsung galaxy tab pro 8.4 is giving me grief

i just installed twrp onto my Galaxy tab pro 8.4 SM-T320NZKAXAR did a factory reset and was planning on it rebooting into a fresh version of the stock os that i could then back up before putting cm 12.1 onto it.
instead the plain white sceen asking for my encrytion password appears (when i have done a factory reset in the past using stock recovery that is usually gone) so thats the first weird thing but then after i put in the password nothing loads up, the screen just stays dark. i dont know what to do as i was really wanting to have a backup of the stock rom and i am unsure of installing cm 12.1 now since i dont know if the device encrytion will mess with the install. i looked around for the stock recovery and was thinking i could just do a factory reset using the original stock recovery and that would get rid of the encryption and then i could make a backup and proceed from there but i cant find it for my model (usa wifi) SM-T320NZKAXAR . i dont know what to do and any help understanding whats going on and how to proceed would be really awesome and helpful. thanks
