Hey,
I have had a HTC Touch sins 5th of December and i have found a problem I'm not sure if anyone is aware but its quite annoying. The sound through headphones and even to the extent of through the speakers is very quite and I'm not sure what i can do to improve that. Is there some kind of update or something. I could understand the phone speaker being quite and i don't partiuclly mind that but when trying to use it to listen to music or watch a film i find i can't even make out what there saying.
I don't have bad hearing so it can't be that.
Thanks for any help you can provide in advance
Did you make sure that your device volume is turned up all the way? Also make sure that your media player volume is turned up all the way.
It may also be that the media files you are playing have very low volume. Compare this by playing these files on your computer - do you have to turn your computer speakers up high just to hear? this would confirm low sound right in media file.
Do you have wow or srswow or whatever it is called installed. I have heard others having problems with this installed on their devices. this could be the problem. Uninstaling did not work in their case and they had to perform a hard reset (possibly because it had changed registry settings) I don't know if there is any other explanation or solution to your problem. The only time I have ever experienced low sound volume was when my volume settings were set low and I forgot to turn them back up.
to my knowledge there's no way of increasing hardware volume..
you can amplify the media using Goldwave or something.. and check that the volume meter is up all the way both in your media player and on your device.
When i try to change the volume when I am playing this game it doesn't just change the media volume. If I try to turn up the volume while my phone is in vibrate mode, it will switch my phone into silent and into the loud volume (just as if I were at the homescreen trying to change the volume). Once it turns to the loud volume, THEN it will start adjusting the media volume instead of my phone's volume.
So basically, I can't change the volume within the app unless my phone is in silent / vibrate. It will change those settings to take it out of silent / vibrate before adjusting media volume.
Anyone know a fix for this, or is anyone else seeing the same problem?
Edit: The developers have just emailed me back and here is what they said --
Dear Anthony,
I'm sorry but the current function about the sound, in app volume and device's media volume is not co-working, is specification needed in some devices. Thus we can't remove it now. It is still possible that we'll change the function in the future, but we can't guarantee it. Anyway thanks for indicating the point of improvement. I hope you'll contact us again if there're any good ideas or issues.
Sincerely,
KEMCO_GAMES

Well let's hope that they decide to fix it soon then!

I recently upgraded from CM7.1 to CM9. I love everything about this, but for some reason the earpiece volume is overly loud. With the volume adjusted all the way down, I still have to hold it 6"+ away from my head while on a call.
Troubleshooting steps I've taken:
Full wipe of caches
Reinstall of ROM
Re-download & reinstall ROM
Scouring forums and using google-fu attempting to find someone who's had a similar issue, but no joy.
I did find a thread detailing an import of libaudio.so from a previous ROM, but the file structure wasn't identical and I didn't want to mess things up anymore than I already have. I've attempted messing around with DSP, but I'm not sure if the 3 settings available (speaker, BT, headset) even apply to the earpiece.
I included a screenshot of my current kernel version & software if that helps. Any assistance would be appreciated.
EDIT: Problem solved. I'm not sure the root issue, but after several back and forths I've found a workaround. Usually when I would initiate a call, volume would be on the lowest setting (albeit unnaturally loud). Adjusting the volume via the external buttons to its max, then back down lowered the earpiece volume to a tolerable level.
Anyone else? My call volume (both speakerphone and ear) are extremely low yet the sounds come through the speaker loud and clear for games, music, etc. I can't seem to find any mention of this anywhere other than a tiny thread on Reddit in the Moto G subreddit but no mention on how to fix it. Any ideas how to fix this?
Edit: Just restarted and it resolved itself. I had restarted after upgrade but it seems a 2nd one would've been required. Disregard.
Hello, i have the same problem but a restart doesn't resolve....the volume is very low. I tried a factory reset but nothing changed
having the same problem after updating to 4.4.2
Motorola's advise: lower the incall volume to min, switch the phone off and then on again.
Worked for me, permanent fix.

Just turning volume down and the up during call will fix it, It's a known bug in KitKat on our devices

I have the same problem but the said workaround doesn't seem to be working. Is this using the rocker all the way? The moto forums all give different solutions but none of them seem to be working.
I agree with zippo, just turn the volume down a notch during the call and it increases the volume.
Strange but it works!

Hello! Do you know any way to increase volume of voice speaker? It's too low for me. Device runs with root, CWM and CM11.

The fix is the same for internal or external earpiece or speaker. While in a call, turn the volume to 0, then turn back up to your desired output level.
Fix moto g volume
I have been helped a lot by this forum so i thought i would give back! You can fix this problem with es file explorer And root access. First turn on root explorer in es file explorer, go to menu, local, device, find folder etc. Click on the file named mixer_paths.xml. click the top right menu button and select edit then scroll down and find the line <ctl name="RX1 Digital Volume" value="84" /> ( your number may not be 84) and change that number to 94. Do the same for the next two lines (lines should look the same except with RX2 and RX3). Save and exit, then reboot and it should be fixed. You can try different numbers but much over 94 and my speakers distorted. All volumes will be increased including in call volumes. This may work for other phones but no guarantees
Hi developer dudes. I'm new to this site and all this rooting stuff. I've been searching for a way and trying different techniques to boost the headset volume on my phone. I've successfully rooted and installed recovery mode. I've tried installing a couple volume boost zips off some forums on here with recovery and the zips actually decreased the headphone volume. they had a link following right after with a zip to revert to stock. one of the revert zips restored my music volume but totally disabled my ear speaker volume, however one of them fixed everything so my phone is okay again. it just makes me iffy and hesitant with trying out more custom roms.
I've also tried ES File Explorer and changing the HPHL and HPHR to a higher number with guidance from youtube and it didn't do anything. I've also tried mtk engineering (some number that starts with*#*# and ends with *#*#) and it doesn't work for the xperia z2.
Please help me out developers with this. I want zip to install that simply raises ONLY the headphone music volume WITHOUT changing the sound quality of music.. I believe 128 is the volume limit manufacture have it set to and 160 I believe is the highest which is what I'm aiming for. All I want is louder music through my headphones, that's it. everything else about this phone is perfect as is.
Thanks for taking the time to read and thanks for your support!
