[Q] whatch videos with subtitles provided as resources (srt) by DLNA server? - MX Player

Hello,
I'm using Serviio as DLNA media server and I'm trying to watch my movies at some android smartphones using mx-player.
when serviio are set to delivery the videos with subtitle burned-in (means that it has to transcode the video), I can see them with mx-player properly and in this the mx-player uses it sw-decoder .
But when I set serviio to deliver subtitles as resource (srt file) without have to transcode the video, I can't see the subtitles and mx-player uses hw decoder.
Has mx-player support to request external subtitles in dlna servers ?
could someone please help me?
thanks
Cristiano

Hi ppl.

No HW-decoding when streaming mkv with subtitles

Hi,
I'm having a pretty strange problem with MX Player Pro and .mkv-files (AVC/H264) with subtitles. I tried streaming them over DLNA recently which does work fine on my Samsung TV but not on my Android device (Sony Xperia Z3 Compact) or to be precise it does work but only without HW-decoding (or HW+ even). But when I remove the subtitle file from the folder and then stream the file, HW+-decoding works like a charm. It also works even WITH subtitles and HW-decoding when playing the file locally. So I just don't see what the problem is here. Not even sure this problem is related to MX Player at all but i figured i gotta start asking somewhere so here i am. Btw I'm using Serviio (latest version) to stream from my Windows computer.

Similar problem here. I have the movie Go encoded using Handbrake to mp4 without subtitles (go.mp4) and also encoded mkv with subtitles (go.mkv), served from my Win 8 machine over the local network. MX Player on my android phone can play the mp4 encoding fine as a network stream, but not the .mkv file (MX Player simply reports "Can't play this link").

[Feature Request] MX Player needs a new option for network streams

My device is a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 using Lollipop 5.02
I use MX Player Pro for decoding RTP-Streams from the ip-tv platform t-Entertain in Germany. These RTP-Streams uses MPEG-4 AVC/MEG-4 part 10 Codec.
I also own a NAS containing all my videos. Streaming videos from NAS using HW+ Decoder to MX Player works fine. But videos from RTP-Streams to MX-Player
do not! The reason is: MPEG-4 AVC/MPEG-4 part 10 have to decode in software mode on my device! But both streams (Nas-Videos and RTP-Streams) come from network.
There is no option in MX Player to set NAS-Streams to HW+ and RTP-Streams to SW! A workaround will be to set both to SW. But this is not state of the art!
So please give MX Player an option, to set "network streams" separate to SW or HW+ mode.
Best regards to the developers and to the Forum

We will try adding option for selecting decoder based on network protocol.
+1
I need to work with my nas
Tnx
Is it working by now with the individual streams from http://iptv.blog/artikel/multicastadressliste/ ?
Or does MX Player even handle one of the playlists (more akin to DVB bouquets actually) provided there (FKA http://grinch.itg-em.de/entertain/downloads/playlist.php?ETV&xspf etc.).

Embedded subtitles are not working on MX Player

HI, Embedded subtitles have not been working on MX Player Pro anymore. They used to play fine when the subtitles box was checked but now there are no subtitles displayed. The information on the mp4 videos says 3GPP timed text subtitles.

Hi,
can you share a sample clip?
HI, I wasn't sure if you are asking for a link to one of the videos? I can't post a link on the forum yet, but if you go to jw.org under videos at the bottom of the page you can select any of the newer videos and it should have an option for subtitles.
I selected the subtitles box under the video and then downloaded it with Google Chrome onto my Android tablet.
It shows under info on mx player that stream #3 has subtitles codes 3gpp timed text subtitle. 72 bits/sec, english
If that's not what you meant by clips please let me know. Thanks
