Like, even just using it as a phone, it heats up. Is this normal?
I get the same thing, it gets really really really hot. When I use it as gps, or go online especially.
yeah, its normal. never heard of it not happening
I cooked breakfast on mine this morning.
I put mine in my pocket... made myself sterile.

I've got a Fuze and it was white hot too. I took it back after about a week and just got a replacement. This new one is not heating up. Although now the problem I have with this one is the 3G connection is not as strong as it was before AND google maps doesn't work for sh!t!! I'm looking for a fix.
Marc
Sounds like your 3G isn't really connecting, make sure you try all the forum posts on enabling and forcing 3G/HSDPA connections. Whenever I run mine on 3G it becomes a nice little hand warmer. Force it down to GPRS and it's not hot and has a useless data connection (but good for when the battery is almost dead).

Normal? Extreme heat in an electronic device is normal? I don't think so. If any device you have is getting warm enough to be of concern TAKE IT BACK AND EXCHANGE IT!
BTW - mine doesn't get hot. I can feel warmth if it's charging, for instance, but I wouldn't call it hot.

Pretty much yes they do especially when using heavy power draining functions ie: Wifi, GPS, etc.
Some of the claims here of cooking breakfast, becoming sterile maybe slightly over the top and I have never been actually burnt by the device. But I have yet to use a HTC device that did not get hot when using the above functions for a period of time.
Just my experience and I certainly would not be using one if it boiled my nuts.
It´s not normal for a electonic device to become that hot, some heat is normal but not EXTREME HEAT!
Try flashing another radio and see if that helps, if not then you should send it back for repair!

mmmm, ever put something made of plastic near the heat exhaust vent on your laptop?? Most modern electronic devices that are based on a CPU generate exteme heat that is why they have cooling, heat sinks, etc.
I'm certainly not going to get into an argument about this but the bottom line here is that they do generate certain levels of heat. It definately should not be enough to burn you though.

Yes but a laptop has X amount more power then a phone! And you know, if the laptop didnt have a FAN to cool it down it would not last you even a few minutes!
However, our phones are designed without fans and are not supposed to get EXTREMLY HOT!
Let´s face it, no electronic device should get extremly hot, if it does then something is wrong, or something will be wrong with it soon!
Mine gets warm, but never hot even when using the GPS or wifi for over an hour. During a 20 minute telephone conversation it will get warm, but again not hot.
after 20 min of phone call, connected to wifi, on ac adapter, it got warm, never hot.
the hottest mine got was looking at vid porn via SkyFire browser. It looked really great... but oh man... the phone was sizzlin'.
Well I don't know if my phone is getting warm or hot. It's not an unpleasant warmth, just odd.
And Skyfire? I thought Opera Mobile was the preferred browser of choice.
My phone doesn't get extremely hot, mildly warm while surfing net over 3G, but that is it.

This is absolutely not normal and is one of the reasons i returned mine and went back to my Treo. I've used lots of high end phones and this is the first and only one that just starts toasting by itself when doing simple stuff.
Strange thing is that everyone i know with a T.P complains about the same thing. I could be watching Youtube for less than 5 mins and it starts boiling..what gives. I Youtube on my Treo (via Coreplayer) and it never gets hot.
I'd say this is a problem or issue with most of all T.Pro's. Sad really, such decent hardware specs.
I've also been experiencing heat coming from the back of the device, but only when I hold calls over around 15 minutes or if I'm using the internet extensively. I also notice it can create a good amount of heat when it charges. Usually when electronic devices have excessive heat it's due to a build up of dust.

So what am I to think? I have a few guys telling me NO! And the rest of you saying "It's normal" and ONE guy saying he exchanged his in and his new one DOES NOT GET HOT AT ALL!!!
what the hell!! I have like two weeks until my 30 days is up.
Ive noticed that my touch screen cant carousel when its about 38 degrees celcius. Wierd.
But if I let my phone cool a lil, it will spin just fine?
Do you think the heat may be causing the issue? I just dont get it. It works fine, then when gets hot, it gets weird. Then I let it cool and its fine again.
Anyone else think that the temp is the issue? Maybe stick yourself in front of a fan or Air conditioner and test? I know for me, every time the phone is cool its fine, USUALLY, then when it heats up it becomes less responsive.
ANYWAY I got a replacement coming on the 5th, I had wifi issues, screen issues, dead pixels, dust and a weird bulge on the phone under the battery cover. Weird.
EDIT: I guess I could have used the existing threads I just thought this could use its own, If not my bad.
Well, I noticed that if you swipe really fast on one screen, without moving between home screens, it will always spin.
Just swipe really fast.
About the heat, it only reaches 27 maybe 28 here in Seattle, but I have been out with the phone for a few hours under the sun. No issues so far.

27 or 28? celciuS? while browsing and 4g on? wow thats low. Mine with screen off, doing nothing on 2g is like 32 degrees...
HMMMM. I love this phone, I can even deal with the shotty wifi, Ill just get a booster, but this screen dealio is weird, I want to figure it out.
Also if I swype fast when hot, it wont spin, when its cool it spins. I think maybe some of us just have too hot of devices. Im not sure.
Aahhh...so THAT'S what it is...

I have noticed that the new Note that I have seems to get pretty warm under the camera area. I say new because I had to return one and on the one I returned I never noticed it getting this warm. I do have a skinomi skin on the back(http://www.amazon.com/Skinomi-TechSkin-Protector-Protective-Lifetime/dp/B008Z1LRRG/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1347642701&sr=1-2&keywords=skinomi+for+samsung+galaxy+note+10.1) could this be the culprit? Wouldn't think it would be but you never know I guess. Anyway, I used a battery widget thing to test how hot it was and it said (88) degrees farenheight. Now I know for a comp/laptop this is nothing, but the tab im not sure. Has anyone noticed if the tab is getting pretty warm under the camera? Have only be surfin the web.
Everything is stock non rooted
Mine gets a touch warm in the bottom right quadrant. Who knows. Ur right, 88 degrees F is nothing. The lap it is sitting on is warmer more than that.

Looking at the camera mine gets warm, not hot at all in the top right corner, but doesn't worry me, i notice it when playing asphalt 7 for a bit
Ok. Was worried a little . Seems like its normal. Thanks guys
Friend just called me few minutes ago and now I'm still on the phone it's been like 10 minutes and now my phone is starting to get very hot warm.
Should I get worried?
Yes

Any tips then?
Or should I go to the store and exchange it?
Curiously, were you holding it in your left hand during the call?

Mine gets hot too. It happens during a call, using GPS, and playing graphically intensive games. I think the unibody design has some part in causing the heat issues.
The phone does cool down pretty quickly after finishing one of the activities mentioned above.

No games. Nothing else before, just regular browsing. No GPS either and it was right hand and right ear.

My phone gets a little hot and I always use my left hand to talk -- is there something about holding the phone in the left hand?
Well, oddly might be, I think there could be a little signal death grip happening.
I know I can choke out my WiFi using phone in left hand an cause it to warm up.
Though it might not be the issue here, just an out there idea and thought of mine.
Other oddity I have noticed, every day about 2pm until 5ish, it runs way hotter.
I have written that off as poor signal due to schools letting out and sudden increase of bandwidth Usage by younger users.

Is anyone having their phone heat up a lot while on a phone call?
Sometimes while the phone is in my pocket my leg starts to sweat due to the phone getting that hot. I just got a case but that only cuts the heat in half(but still hot).

I picked up my Samsung Galaxy S6 and yes, it heats up abnormally..and it does it fairly quickly. I can hardly hold it to my ear while talking because of the heat.
Thought I was the only one with the issue for a bit.. the longer the phone call the hotter it gets.
OH man here we goooo
portable frying pan make sure you carry eggs and bacon with you at all times lol
Well try it your self if you think we are kidding.. get in a 10+min phone call and feel as it gets hotter
I will try to recreate this when I get back home. My guess is that it has something to do with the volte.
I was on the phone with T-Mobile for over an hour yesterday and my phone never got hot..

Ok, I have Sprint...but I doubt the heating issue is carrier specific Just run a simple Speedtest 8-10 times and you will see your phone heating up. If not, I need to go and get a new phone. This may be an isolated issue with a few phones.
My phone is from tmobile so maybe it's not related to specific carrier models
I'm on Sprint and my G6 gets super hot as well....... Why is it anytime I get a new phone, it has issues? Ughh..... And I'm coming from a Nexus 6
Interesting, I do not see any other site reporting this issue yet. Probably they will report it on Friday when more people will get the phone in their hands. And yes, it sucks that much anticipated galaxy 6 heats up so much.

Heating is common, I remember my galaxy s3 heating upto 50 deg in summer while browsing or heavy use. I got a nexus 6 last month and it had an uneven display, so I replaced it and the replacement had the same issue but not that severe. I returned it got back my money. Now I am planning to get the s6 tomorrow. The always flash on is a problem for me. Check out the forums many people are reporting their flash is always dimly lit. Heating isnt an issue, both my n6's would go upto 45 -48 on intensive use.

Not trying to troll, I apologize. It's just not real world usage running 10 speed tests in a row and then thinking there would be no heating of the device. Anytime you run a performance test is going to push the device to it's limit, you're downloading & uploading tons of data over and over at max speed

I believe he was meaning an internet speed test, but it happened to me from just starting my phone. It was so hot that it felt as if I could cook a burger on it, and I wasn't running anything. I will say that it does get warm now, but ever since the update it hasn't gotten that hot. Maybe that was part of the update, a voltage setting or something.

Yes there was an update pushed out for the tmobile version of the phone. I do not know if the other carriers got an update for that aswell.
Just did a non-VoLTE(HD) call test and the phone did not heat up . I cant test the VoLTE right now as I don't have anyone available to call. It could be an issue with Volte and I would have to take it to the store if I can reproduce the issue.
I would like to add that on first setup when I started downloading all my apps (did a NFC user swap), the phone got too hot to hold in my hand.
i am also on sprint i have noticed my device get really hot what should i do
When I was downloading my apps onto it the back got very warm but that's the only instance I've noticed so far.
Just want to report today I was in an HD voice call with the phone in my jeans pocket walking around and the phone overheated and did a self reboot. Might take my phone to T-Mobile to have them look at it.
overheating as well when listening to music... VZW
