Tasker for Note 4 - General Questions and Answers

Hello, I ride my motorcycle to work and have it charging. When it gets to 100%, the battery notification action stays on top of my WAZE, and of course I can't safely swipe it to get off my screen. I was hoping I could use the Tasker application to force close the notification. I've read the tasker wiki, and I've tried a few 'tasks' - but so far nothing seems to work. Can someone help me with this?

TomTom - Stop auto minimize when PPC switch OFF/ON

To everyone using TomTom not just in your car !
Is it possible to stop the auto minimize of TomTom's windows when you turn OFF then back ON your PPC screen ?
I know I can revert back to TomTom from the tray icon, BUT it is very annoying and boring to do that ! When you use your PPC outside your car, you often want to check just for a few second your PPC to check that you are on the right direction ! you do NOT want to have your PPC always ON !
And you must also consider a power limitation, when you are on foot, you do not have a car battery next to you to power up your PPC, so it is essential to be able to turn ON/OFF your PPC screen to save battery life.
-> but TomTom's window always disappear in that process, how to avoid this !
Good question. I'd also like to know this. Sometimes I get on a 30 mile straight or stuck in traffic, so could do with turning the screen off to save energy
I'm afraid this isn't a solution, but a quick workaround would be to set one of your ftouchflo gestures to tomtom. Then you could maximise it with a simple sweep.

Click to collapse
Yes, a workaround, I have tested it but surprisingly it TomTom does not come back immediately like any other program when they are minimized !
It takes about 2s to comes back.
That's annoying when you are on foot and you just want to turn on the screen to check if the direction is ok.
Maybe if I remove go to tray icon of TomTom, it will no longer minimize after every switch OFF/ON of the screen.
Does anyone know how to stop TomTom tray icon feature ?
Slightly off-topic
Any way to stop ActiveSync when TomTom is launch?! Minimize I can live with, but ActiveSync is more annoying.
Has someone an idea, what causes Tomtom to minimize every time you turn OFF/ON the screen display ?
I would like to do a skschema script to fix this. But I need to investigate what causes this minimization ?

I too am trying to find out if its possible to prevent tomtom minimizing and stay running when the backlight is turned off. Other GPS programs i use stay running and dont minimise as well as other programs in general so i am assuming its some kind of power saving function of tomtom. Im assuming it changes something or monitors something to auto minimize itself when it sees the backlight go off.
Hallo, i,m new here and i hope my message will go ahead.
So far I made following observance.
Today i nstalled a new beta version of mortPlayer V3.31 b75.
After i had installed mortplayer and it is running then TomTom does not minimise. after deactivating my HTC 7500; WM6 Tomtom 7
Perhaps it will show equal behavior on other systems
Good luck
nope, still minimizes and stops using GPS when screen goes off even with this version of mort installed. Maybe share the settings so i can see if how you have it set works for me.
Tomtom minimising
even on my Dell x51v TomTom does not minimise when I turn off for a sleap,If you mean the GPS mode shouldn´t be turned off while sleaping , so am I not sure wether it is possible, and even if it is ,it would drain battery .
What i mean is, i want TOMTOM to stay running while the device has the screen turned off. This way it will save battery life as i cant look at the screen while im on the motorbike.
Same Here
I also would like TomTom to behave like other application.
Because it goes to the tray:
- you have to try to hit that small icon in the tray with your finger, or pull out the stylus
- you can not use that Alt-Tab, to switch away and back
- it does not show up in task manager
- if you assign a button to it, it take a few seccond to show up (but it's instant when you hit the tray icon)
- waste Today screen space...
So like the others, I would appreciate help on changing that behavior.
Thanks in advance

[Q] Tasker and GPS on the charge

Hi --
I am attempting to use Tasker to turn GPS on/off when I start/close the Maps application on the Charge, but Tasker won't do it. It works when I test the tasks in the Tasker app, but not when I actually start/close Google maps. The profile is running when I open maps (the notification window confirms this), but again, Tasker will not toggle GPS on/off. Interestingly, the legal window that pops up and must be agreed to DOES pop up when I start maps, which tells me Tasker is attempting to turn on GPS, but it disappears from the screen before I can click on "agree." Anyone else run into this problem? On a side note, since I brought them up, is there any way to get around the legal agreements that need to be agreed to every time GPS services are turned on/off? God, those are annoying.
Thanks in advance!

[Q] Tasker - Turning screen on and off when on a long road on a Navigation profile

I have followed the Autostart Navigation on the Tasker Wiki page. I was wondering if it is possible to turn the screen off when I'm on the same road for a specified amount of time? And then turn the screen back on maybe 5 minutes before the next direction is given? Since I have a pattern lock, is there a way to unlock this with tasker?
I'm fairly new to android and tasker, so I'm not even sure if this is possible. I searched the forums and online but couldn't find a solution.
Anyone have any idea?

[Q]How to Keep Proximity Sensor on?

Mods, please move if this isn't the right section (I contemplated the development section but opted against it).
I'll try to be short while providing enough background to get the more knowledgeable people here the info they need to help me with this problem. Essentially, i have a 32gb P6210 that I'm going to flush mount in my dash to use for in car entertainment. With no access to the hardware buttons I did some research on what would realistically meet my needs (especially getting the screen back on without the power button).
I found Tap Tap App on the market and the widget allows me to turn the screen off and waving my hand in front of the proximity sensor four times turns the screen back on. The issue is that, randomly (has ranged from 10 minutes to 17 hours), the proximity sensor is turned off when the screen is off, making the app inconsistent, even with "never turn off sensor" checked within the app. I'm in talks with the developer and he mentioned that the proximity sensor turning off with the screen off is dependent on the underlying rules built into individual ROMs. I'm on the stock ROM.
I need to know if anyone has info on how to keep the proximity sensor on indefinitely with the screen off so Tap Tap App has the input needed to continuing working as designed. I dont care about battery drain at all, the tab will have constant power. I'm rooted with clockwork mod recovery so if anyone has a system file I can edit, a zip i can flash, a tasker profile you know will work, etc, please post it up. Thanks in advance!
Kinda lonely in here...anyways, as an observation update, the app i was using, Tap Tap App, worked far less reliably using the Power button widget vs having the button in the notification area.
Conversely, I found a very similar app called "Soft Power" and have been using it the past 3 days with no issues. It has no widget option and only has the option for turning off via notification area. I'm thinking that always running the notification area by default means a background service is running to keep it there. I have not yet been able to not wake it up by waving my hand over the prox sensor. So for anybody with similar needs to mine in terms of not wanting or being able to access the power button, this has been a good alternative thus far.
I tried it on my phone. It does not work at all.
LG Optimus 2X 2.3.4
It looks like a promising application.
Perhaps it works on ICS ?

How to stop s-health cycling recognition?

Hi to all.
I've a little problem: I go to work with a motorcycle and my S2 recognize it as a sporty activity (cycling): is there a way to stop this behaviour?
Thanks

GS, I'm with you. I have the exact same problem. Every day I have to zero out the record for that day and then I turn off the cycling tracker (hoping that it just might stay disabled, but of course it never does). I wish there was a way to permanently disable this tracker, as I seldom ride a bicycle and could easily do without tracking this activity...
There automatic activity recognition settings in S Health. Just go to settings
Sorry but I don't have this option...
It seems that you can disable all automatic detections, and that you can not select with detection disable...

I have this same issue, the only solutions I've found are:
1) Download S-Health and disable it through manage items, but that does nothing.
2) Contact Samsung for support, which I've read is basically the first solution.
I want to set my watch for all my notifications but I think it's weird how you can't disable a function like that. I also tried factory resetting my watch to no avail...
Same problem here.
I don't want to disable cycling because i DO cycle sometimes and want to record it.
What annoys me is everytime I step in my car or ride a motorbike it detects me as cycling for a few hours.
Seems to be no way to disable it.
Anyone found a fix?
I'm still having the same problem. Strangely, it only seems to happen in my truck. When I drive the sedan, nothing happens and my watch works as intended. i'm not sure what I do in the truck that has my watch convinced I'm cycling down the highway at 70 MPH.
I've had to run off auto-detect which makes me sad because I forget to log my walking and my elliptical all the time. The watch we very good at detecting these 2 activities.
For future users who end up here with a google search:
the workout auto-detection settings are not the the S-Heath (or now "Samsung Health") app on your phone, they are in the S-Heath app that's on the watch itself. In last screen, "settings"
