I have used pingpong to root my s6. But I just flashed back to stock with odin. How do I remove the custom unlock symbol? I might need to take the phone in for repair.
thanks
It might take a couple reboots to go away. I've heard other people mention this

Background Information:
I need to return my Verizon SGS3 for an exchange (within the first 14 days) because of a battery problem. My battery is draining WAY too fast and getting too hot. To the point where the battery cover is melting.
- I have flashed root66 to my device using Odin and installed the CWM via the CWM App.
- I have already went to the Samsung Site to obtain the Stock VZW software and flashed it back to my phone via Odin.
- The CWM is gone and the there is no trace of SuperUser that I can see (meaning the app is not installed).
- When I boot the device, the "Unlock" symbol is no longer their, and only the Samsung logo is visable (like it was when it was stock).
So I called Verizon to setup an exchange and the lady asked me if I had altered the phone in anyway. I told her no, but then realized I needed to find out more so I told her I had another call and would call back later. She said that the Warehouse would be checking the phone upon arrival to check and see if the phone's software has bee altered in any way.
Question(s)/Issue(s):
I wanted to make sure that what I did (in regards to returning the phone to it's factory state [to my knowledge]) was sufficient enough. Because I don't want to get charged $299 for returning an "altered" phone to them.
Has anyone successfully returned a Verizon SGS3 that was rooted and then flashed back to the software from the Samsung Support site and returned/exchanged the phone without a problem?[/B]

Sorry not answering your question, but do you have to send the phone? Can't you just go to Verizon store and exchange it?

It's just that I live 4 hours away from the closest Verizon Store...
So I kind of have to send it. Am I cool sending it back the way I did everything?
I mean is Verizon gonna know it was rooted?

If you can use triangle away and non root stock software they should not be able to tell. Not sure about triangle away for Verizon, but for tmo it works.

It works on all the US variants now
So flash stock in Odin and make sure reset flash counter if it's above 0(depending on how you rooted) and ur golden

I was wondering if the stock Verizon ROM from the "samsung-updates" site quill bw efficient enough. It's not an officially recognized site that is connected to Verizon or Samsung, but it is all I can find. And the Triangle problems do not apply to the root66 roms as far as I can see. I am a perfectionist and have flashed these more times than needed and have never had a triangle problem...

I was in the same situation two days ago. On Route66 with custom recovery. All I did was install the latest stock rom via odin. I got the stock rom from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1755386
After I ran it, my phone still showed as custom and modified. I had to do a factory data reset under settings. Once I did that, the phone was completely stock with a "normal" status just like the day I got it. That's how I took it to verizon and had no problems exchanging it.
Thank you. That's all I needed

So i was on a leaked JB rom and decided just to revert back to stock via Odin
Unroot and all
so i did it all is well but now when i start up the phone it says custom with a padlock on it
before i did it i relocked bootloader and reset flash counter
How do i get rid of this
The only way i know of personally is to do a ota. I've read that some people get that icon directly out of the box ob first power up too (not a refurbished phone) so i wouldnt worry to much about it

Okay, kind of a noob. I have the Samsung Galaxy S3 Verizon. I was on 4.1.2 rooted using Beanstown 106 method, and was running axis rom. It was ok but 4.3 came out & I wanted to try it, since the rom had excellent performance, but a lot of little bugs that were bothering me. I shut the root off in the SU accepted the 4.3 ota update and everything was fine except for when the phone would boot up it showed the samsung logo with an unlock padlock and said custom.. Not a big deal but I liked the 4.3 so wanted to take away the boot unlock icon (just in case for warranty purposes). It was my understanding if I would ODIN back to stock it would go away. Long story short in between trying to odin to stock, Kies back to stock and every other method I can find, my phone is stuck in ODIN/download mode and won't do anything else. I've searched everywhere and cannot figure it out. In odin mode the phone says something like Software upgrade error, use software repair assistant or something like that. Don't know what to try or do, and stuck using a razr until I get my GS3 back. Please help!!!
Didn't accept the OTA, but from what others have posted, it sounds like the correct way to do it is to revert to stock, unroot, relock bootloader and use triangle away to reset counter, then accept the OTA. If you dont use triangle away prior to accepting OTA, you get the unlock icon + custom. Once you accept the OTA, trying to revert to anything else or flashing a custom recovery will result in a hard brick.

Well then I'm hard bricked, because I tried to ODIN back to stock as well as KIES and they both just say fail..
I just fixed my phone with verizon software utility. My guide should be up with the utility sometime tonight. If you can get into bootloader it will flash SCH-I535_I535VRUCML1 I tried to get the files it downloaded but there not odin files or zips.
Hopefully this helps http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2586319

Holy **** I can't wait to get home and try this! Hopefully it works, thank you!
Hello, I am still learning about custom ROM's, boot loader, etc, so I apologize if my question sounds like a noob one. I have the S III and I have put a custom ROM, boot loader, Kernal, (and radio?). I want to put my phone back to a stock ROM and everything else as I want to sell it on ebay or somewhere else. Can anyone point me to where I can find the stock ROM's and other items to bring back my phone to its "Original" state (or whatever state it would be in if it were to receive the Verizon OTA updates?)
Thanks for your help!
download this image http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23134718111254196 and flash with Odin. After flash once it boot up make sure you disable OTA update. If you have the latest 4.3 stock rom it's harder to sell on ebay. If you want pure stock once boot up just turn off wifi and 4g.
Thank You! One last question where do you disable OTA updates?

If you want to sell it as pure stock, just disable wifi, turn off the phone then remove the sim card, now you can sell the phone as stock. If you disable OTA then the phone is not 100% pure stock since you need to modify couple system files and root the phone.
Hi there, I just got my S6 2 days ago and it already has a problem with the home button. I have to click it 3 times before it actually registers the click.
So I have to return it to EE and hopefully they'll sort this out for me.
However I just rooted it via pingpong root. I'm just wondering is there any way to completely unroot it and remove all the traces of root?
With regards,
Beston94
Kingroot I think you can get it from play store.

Just flash the stock ROM for your varient from sammobile.com via Odin.
It will default everything to stock and lose root.
What genetichazzard said. But you might also want to do a factory reset from the stock recovery, too, just to make sure
