BLE Heart rate can't connect - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody,
I have a big problem, a generic heart rate monitor (BLE) can't be used with my Xperia Z3, the phone itself manages to connect it but I am not able to use it in any app. The funny things is that it worked flawlessly with Z1 compact 2 months ago. Runtastic and Endomondo are the apps which I am using. Also, the heart rate monitor works without issues on iPhone 5.
Does anyone have the same problem?

Bump!

Hello,
I have similar problem with Xperia Z2, programs see my bluetooth smart belt but I don't get heart rate. But on Nexus 5 the belt seems to work.

+1 here. Generic BLE HR monitor works flawlessly with my friend's iphone 6 but not with my nexus 5. Tried a hell of apps like endomondo, runtastic, micoach etc. and tested with a bunch of android devices too with no sign of my heart. Think it is about android.

Probably the problem is with the version of android, both on Z1C and Z3 BLE worked on 4.4.

[Q] One x and heart rate monitors via bluetooth

Hopefully someone knows more about bluetooth accessories than I do (which is next to nothing)
I mountain bike often and use the endomondo application. I was just curious if the one x is compatible with heart rate monitors such as this
http://us.store.endomondo.com/collections/frontpage/products/wahoobluehr
The one x is bluetooth 4 I believe , but what is a smart ready device?
Hi Aimetti,
A bit late reply but I found this thread with Google.
I've bought a Polar H7 bluetooth heart rate sensor to use with Endomondo Sports Tracker PRO on my HTC One X.
Unfortunatly the HTC One X/Android ICS is having a issue with bluetooth smart ready (Bluetooth 4.0).
>> HERE you can read more about it.
Hopefully a hotfix will come soon.
Another update, I've returned the Polar H7.
Now I bought this >> Zephyr heartrate sensor and it works great on my HTC One X.
You can also charge it with you pc and usb cable.
I use it with Runtastic app, Endomondo is great too but Runtastic has manual input options and is a bit easier in use as Endomondo to my opinion,
manual input I need as I use the app indoor for Cardio and weight lifting (Indoor it doesn't track distance and other measures).
Thanks alot !
been a while since i posted this and forgot about it lol. I will check that one out.
Thanks again

Polar IWL (WearLink) Bluetooth Heary Rate Monitor and Nexus 5 Any success?

So I though it might be the battery in my device, so i replaced it... still no go.
The polar wearlink bluetooth heart rate monitor will not even show up on my nexus 5.
Any ideas? any known bluetooth issues with other devices?
Anyone else have this issue?
I'm on stock rooted nexus 5.
Link below to the polar site for the product.
http://www.polar.com/us-en/products/accessories/Polar_WearLink_transmitter_with_Bluetooth
Thanks all,
RR
P.S.- the polar wearlink appears to be bluetooth 2.0, it should still work on the nexus 5 bluetooth 4.0 right?
Any news or solution to this topic ? I changed my phone from Nokia/Symbian to Nexus 5 and would liek to continue using the HRM monitor. Otherwise I will start looking for an activity tracker (fitbit or equivalent) but ... before buying more gadgets would be great to find a solution.
THanks,
Antoni

[Q] PHABLET used as a Phone..... What say you ?

I'm looking at upgrading to a Phablet (screen size 5.5"+) here real soon.
What Phablets do you recommend ?
How practical is it to use as a phone using Bluetooth ?
Any other comments ?
I used a Xperia Z Ultra and I really liked the device. However, it was not really practical for me to use it as a phone, and I got tired of charging and carrying around a bluetooth headset. I never liked using a bluetooth headset anyway.
What I did for a while, which was as cheap as using a bluetooth headset, was actually this:
1 - Bought a used small android phone in working condition (Xperia Tipo) for about $20.
2 - Put my SIM card in that phone and turned on wifi tethering.
3 - Used my Z Ultra for all my data and gaming needs via the created wifi.
4 - Used the Xperia Tipo to handle calls and SMS only and nothing else.
Charging an additional device was a headache though so I stopped doing this after a few months...

Which one to choose? B09 or BX9

Hey guys, I've finally decided to buy Huawei watch 2 (Hard choice between LG watch sport and Misfit vapor).
in my country there's only HW2 sport in store and no classic version
So I want to ask you which variation, BX9 or B09, is the better one to choose? is there any difference?
does any of them support simcard?
I want the English version and the one which gets better updates and support(if the updates are different!!)

Don't buy any HW2. I have HW2 sport and I'll be happy when I sell this.

App by Huawei to making sport report is fine but not have export to others like Endomondo and other. Only Google fit but with trouble. Endomondo you can install but heart rate is not good. GPS on sport app on about 2 minutes. Google maps not navigate without phone but I have version with SIM and data connection. Horrible. It's Google wear 2. Mass storage not exist in wear 2. Music I must sync by Google music via WiFi but very slowly. Memory optimalizition of task is very bad. Every week I must watch restart, because not usable. Watch going to slow and slow. I have TomTom runner 2 and I prefer this for sport activities. Better statistic, better GPS, absolutely not problematic export of data. Swimming not problem for Tomtom. Watch 2 after 10km run have from 95% to 20%. GPS, data ,Bluetooth music on. One thing is fine - notification.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on your points. The hw2 classic is spot on with the heart rate monitor. I use it for runs and the gym and it is pretty accurate. The GPS works well and so do the third party apps. Runtastic works well, Strava works well, Endomondo works just fine, Huawei app is really good, and Google fit is good. It's all about your flavor of exercise app. As far as storage, most aw watches lack decent storage. And this watch is blazing fast and lasts two days on a single charge. Seems like you got a bad one. I love this watch so much more than the Moto 360 I had before.

You would be losing access to anything that requires a dedicated internet connection like play music streaming, Spotify streaming, and such. Anything that doesn't need immediate internet is fine.
I use SIM version primary like wearing mobile. When I go to Pub, forest, sport I prefer my watch with duplicated sim card. Without any problem except for battery.

Hello!
I'm a runner. Because of my job, I need to be available on phone calls. So I decided to try and buy a smart watch.
Is there any smart watch in 2017 with battery life about 5 hours when using the SIM card and GPS turn on (for a single marathon)? I would like to use the Endomondo application. Can anyone help me with the advice?
Thank you!

Probably the only watch that would maybe work for you, would be the Samsung Gear S3. Android Wear watches don't come close to the Gear S3's battery life. Only other option would be using an iPhone and the Apple watch. It would probably last the 5 hours.
Let's be clear, you wouldn't be able to talk continuously or stream music for 5 hours. But having GPS on and maybe a very short phone call should be ok. I believe the battery life on the Apple watch is 2 hours of continuous talk time.
step counting accuracy is horrible unless I have a bad model. Count steps and compare to my xioami... it counts double steps!!!
When I disable Huawie apps, step couting in Google fit is fine but then heart rate is broken. This is after latest update!!!!

Time to change device!!

After nearly 2 years I have had enough and will change.
The whole time I had the watch with Huawei P9 > Nokia 8 > Honor View 10 > P30 Pro there have been issues with the bluetooth constantly disconnecting and removing from trusted device unlock.
To happen with all these phones is clearly something wrong with how it connects to Android / bluetooth stack.
I love the watch so put up with constantly going into Wear app and "reconnecting" but now the battery is draining at an insane amount.
At the start I could manage 2 days without charge, now I am charging it before sleep and waking up with 23% left.
you know i guess there might be something wrong with your device because my hw2 always stays connected to my phone and in the past year I have only noticed one or two times of disconnection, and i wear it at least 8 hrs a day.
It most be your watch
I agree with Kianush, must a problem with your watch. I have a Huawei Watch 2 Classic and I've never had those issues. I do charge before going to sleep, but even doing sleep monitoring in the morning I have usually 75% and it lasts thru the day.
As I say battery was very good until recently so maybe it is on it's way out.
The bluetooth has always had disconnection issues for me at random points in the day.
Also seems it can't handle other BT devices connecting to the phone - i.e. earphones or car head unit will make it disconnect and then it will not reconnect and I need to go into Wear app on phone and reconnect which of course means Smart Lock needs to be added again.

I had always the problem of it disconnecting randomly as well (and I changed a bunch of phones in the meanwhile as well). But, after all, it is still good looking
I bought a fossil gen 5 the other week and I sent it back... It was slightly faster (I recently installed on the HW2 the janjan ROM+KERNEL) but, I couldn't stand how it was looking with a part of the screen that actually was bazel (at least the HW2 fake a big crown ) So, waiting for next-gen or I'll buy a Ticwatch pro LTE that has 1gb of ram as well (processor wise, won't change anything in term of speed) but it has a bigger full screen

Yes, I like the watch very much but the disconnection issue is just annoying, somedays it never disconnects and other days its every 10 minutes even under the same circumstances.
I decided to try Galaxy Active 2 for now, doesn't look like Huawei will make a HW3 with Wear anytime soon.

Galaxy Active 2 is nice and it has faster processor than the snapdragon400-2100-3100 My only concern is the fact that it doesn't run WearOS Let us know how will it work out with Tizen

Yes, I am also slightly nervous about Tizen but watched a Youtube video of Tizen vs Wear vs Android on several devices and it seems to be very similar in use + I found an app that synchronises data to Google Fit.
However I do use several Android apps on my HW2 such as Keep Notes and Fotmob, plus I like the media controls so I will need to fully test this with my P30 Pro before deciding to keep the Active 2.
So I have had the Galaxy Watch Active 2 for a week now and all I can saw is WOW.
This feels like huge upgrade from Huawei Watch 2 in nearly all areas.
The watch itself feels premium, feels more like a real watch on the arm.
The colours are bright and vivid, the speed the watch operates at puts Wear OS to shame, the speaker is great and so many more options with sound and notifications and pretty much everything.
My initial concern was about the lack of Wear OS store and while I do not have Outlook or Fotmob apps everything works., the main app I miss is Google Keep Notes.
I can control my music on my P30 Pro, I can respond to messages in Whatsapp or SMS with voice or type.
Ok it has Bixby instead of Google Assistant but I never used it and I can achieve some similar results such as "set alarm" etc.
It is the first time I tried a non Wear OS watch and I am pretty surprised by it and can't see how Wear can catch up, it is just too slow and dull in comparison.
Plus it has wireless charging and you can backup the watch ready for if you need to wipe or transfer to new phone.
I loved my HW2 for a long time but now GA2 is the new king (although nothing still has the UV sensor I had on my MS Band 2)
Does anyone have any other idea's about what to upgrade to? I'm not a fan of Tizan, but do we wait for the never appearing Pixel watch? Has anyone else updated since this thread started? If so, what to and how is it?
Apart from Fossil there were no real options hence my semi forced move to Samsung.
I like it and it performs much better but I miss some apps like Keep Notes.
And Bixby is useless.
