Would this work to stop the sound when you plug in the charger? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can I delete system>media>audio>ui>Charger_Connection.ogg to stop the sound when the charger gets plugged in? It works - but would it have any long term effect? Is there another way to stop that sound?

bump for the daytime folks

That works fine. No long term effects. You could likely accomplish the same by having Tasker temporarily mute the phone the instant it's connected to a charger. Easier to remove the sound file though. ?

Thanks - I just removed that sound, as well as the power up and power down sound. Figured that would be easiest.

App to automatically change volume when headphones are connected

Hello. I'm trying to find an app that will allow me to maintain separate volume settings based on whether I have headphones connected or not.
Basically, when the headphone jack is in use, I want the media volume at 100% (it's actually plugged into my car). When I unplug the headphone jack, I'd like the volume to revert to a much lower setting (around 25%) or to simply return to the setting it was at before I connected the headphone plug.
Does anyone know of an app that can do this?
Thanks
I'm pretty sure Tasker can do this. Great application.
yep

Tasker can do this, it's one of my profiles.
Yep, tasker here as well. It will also pop up a menu with all my audio or video apps when I plug a pair in for me to easily pick.
Kind of pricey, but well worth it. I don't have a link to his site, but it is cheaper there (with a longer trial) than on the market.

Volume goes down on unplug

Whenever I unplug anything from the headphone jack the volume goes down once I plug something back in. I want to disable this but the only solution I found when I was searching was to use tasked. Is there another way of doing this?

Which volume goes down when you unplug from the headphone jack (i.e., Settings -> Sound) and how does plugging something back in affect the volume?

The sound for using any music player app. And if you have it at max when you unplug it and plug it back in it lowers the volume to like around 75%. Its very annoying

That's the music player app adjusting volume when it detects your headphones being plugged back in, I figure.
My system volume is at 100% without headphones plugged in, but when I plug them in it goes to 40%, which is where I want it for my headphones so that my ears don't melt and is what I set as volume level within the Neutron Music Player app. Unplugging brings the system volume back to 100% again.

I've tried two music player apps and they both do it. It has to be a system feature but I dont like it because I barely use headphones cause I always use auxiliary cables in my cars

You use AUX to the headphone jack in your car? If so, set the volume after connecting to the car jack and it should restore that setting each time, I'd think.
Likewise, try setting the volume after plugging in a headphone to the same level you desire for your car and that should hopefully be restored across the board.

I've tried that but the phone always defaults back to store and 75% when you go to plug something back in

It's a built in feature of any samsung I've owned. It's a "safety" feature. I haven't run an aosp rom on this device yet, but CM9 on previous devices did not change the volume at all on plug in/plug out. So assume it's a touchwiz thing.

What ROM are you running? I am pretty sure I've seen that setting somewhere on certain ROMs, mainly synergy I think? It is supposed to be to protect your ears so you don't plug in your headphones with volume at 100%.

Can't find it on synergy, but yeah I have come across it to. It is definitely on cm9. It is in the sound settings "safe headset volume" to be exact. Have not seen it on anything other than aosp.

Turning up the media volume very high with headphones plugged in creates a message that loud volumes can be damaging to hearing, etc. - so, this symptom does appear to be programmed into Touchwiz. It's probably a smart thing, as there have been times I've put on a portable music player with my headphones and forgot that it was most recently playing through my car's AUX input, so the volume was rather high (ouch).
That said, I just tried this free app and it faithfully restored the headphone volume to what I chose after repeated unplugging/plugging events:
Headset profiler

Wireless charging notifications interrupt music

I have to say that the most annoying thing about the S6 are the stupid wireless charging notifications. They get crazy annoying once the battery is full. I use a wireless charging dock in my car and when I am streaming music, there is nothing better than having your music pause every two minutes to beep at you for the wireless charging notification. The phone hits 100% and interrupts the music to say the battery is full. 2 minutes later, the music is interrupted to say the wireless charging has restarted. The phone sometimes does the same thing through the night while I am trying to sleep. The screen lights up the room every 15 minutes or so. This is on a Samsung charger too. I would root my phone just to get rid of this notification if it were possible. Come on Samsung ..... kill this thing.
Yeah very annoying. I noticed this once at home. I'm glad you brought it up because I was thinking about making a wireless charging setup in my car but forget that!
Galaxy S6 (Verizon)
The only workaround that I have found is to run down you battery before connecting it to the wireless charger. Then once the battery is full, unplug the charger until the battery runs down a lot again. It defeats the simplicity of the wireless charging but at least your phone isn't beeping at you every couple minutes.
Now that root has been achieved, has anyone figured out how to disable the wireless charging notification? I used to be able to do it with Wanam Xposed module. I'm pretty sure that it is just a matter of finding the setting with SQL editor and changing it. I'm sure that I am not the only one annoyed by this notification.
Try using the App Don't pause. Works great for me.

I just tried the app and it sort of works. It just turns everything on mute when I start music. It does prevent the charging notification from interrupting the music, but it also mutes all other notifications and the ringer. It appear to have a setting to allow ringer volume adjustment independantly but it does not work for me. When I turn up the ringer volume, it just overrides me and turns it back down. I also had difficulty turning the app off. It's a great start if it were polished up a bit.
I'm hoping for a root fix to kill this wireless charging notification for good.
This is what I have done since the S3 to turn off the sound.
1. Make sure phone is rooted
2. Download any root browser
3. Browse to the wireless charging sound: system>media>audio>ui>Charger_Connection.ogg
4. Make sure file browser is set to read/write and not read only to be able to make changes.
4. Rename the file or extension (i used Charger_Connection.bak)

Headphone Volume Warning

I'm assuming it's possible to remove the headphone warning when plugging in after rebooting, and also to have the volume stay at the high level after reboot.
Is this easy to do? I'm on vzw, doubt it matters

Nothing that I know of without root.
One thing I've considered is using Trigger or some other automation tool to set the media volume to 15 on some sort of trigger, such as connecting to wifi or my watch or something else that happens right after boot. Right now, I have it set to do so when my headphones connect, and it does cause a popup to warn you about the volume, but then I click ok and my volume is at 15. I think that maybe this post-boot trigger would potentially save me the trouble of doing it when my headphones connect.
That's a good idea. I could do that with Tasker. It will get the job done for now
I have root lol. I know this wouldn't be possible withiut

I played around with this yesterday. Setting media volume to 15 with Trigger/Tasker just changes it for the speaker. Only when you connect headphones and THEN try to set the volume to 15 (or above the threshold) does it give you the warning.
It does then when connected to bluetooth as well I really want this warning to be removed.
Me too! This is so annoying when trying to listen in the car. My phone will connect via bluetooth, but because volume amplification is so low on the S6 I have to turn it all the way up. It makes for a dangerous situation while driving.
I really wish Samsung would stop trying to save people from themselves constantly. I don't need hand holding.

Volume controls - what the...HELP!

Haven't used a Nexus in a long while so not sure if this is a stock Android thing, but it would seem daft if it isn't - my problem is this:
I want to sit in bed at night with my headphones plugged in, listening to podcasts. I *don't* want the phone to vibrate every time someone tweets me or texts me in the meanwhile. There isn't a mute feature evident within the volume settings and if I turn on Do Not Disturb I get no notifications but my sound output also completely disappears. My requirement doesn't seem too niche to me!
This seems utterly ridiculous, and someone - either Sony or Google - seems to have made volume control overly complicated for no good reason.
Can anyone help? I hope I'm just missing something, and all is forgiven if so
