Camera glass already covered in small scratches - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6

So I'm not even in 14 days, and I already see lots of tiny scratches on the glass in front of the camera. I can only see them if I look at the camera up to a light, but they're definitely there.
I have a case (spigen) and I'm sure it's not the case causing the camera to be flat against wherever I put it down?
Does anyone else have/see these scratches?
Comparatively I have an almost 1 year old moto x, with no scratches whatsoever.
This doesn't bode well.
I'm going to try and post a picture if I can.

Damn. http://www.redmondpie.com/galaxy-s6-has-a-new-problem-scratched-camera-lens-cover-chipping-paint/

Same case, no scratches. But honestly as long as it doesn't impact the pictures, meh.

Yes.

If you read up, the glass covering the camera lens is just glass. Not gorilla glass, just regular glass. I've had this before on a different phone, and after time, the photos get a dullness to them. This is enough for me to return the device.

My flash/heart rate monitor is all scratched up. I tried cleaning some dust off of it with my soft t shirt one day and it scratched like butter.
Camera lens is ok though.

Same here dude. A few super tiny scratches. We should try to find a way to remove them.

Make sure you remove the tiny plastic film. I didn't realize there was a film on the flash / HRM until recently. You might not have scratched the actual glass.

Just do a search for "samsung galaxy s6 camera glass" on ebay and you will get lots of matches. The replacements are dirt cheap.

I don't doubt it is the manufacturer site, but they have been tagged as a malware site which is not really all that easy to do. It means that when visiting their site malwarebytes found them providing malware content. This is bad for their business and they should work to get that fixed.
But, this is not for Camera lens protection. So it is off topic anyway.

Isn't the screen on the N1 glass?
From the idrops website: "Carefully squeeze one to four drops onto the plastic, polycarbonate, or acrylic surface of your device"
http://www.wirelessground.com/saguaki.html
Has anyone tried this? Does it work?
If you read the end it states "not use on touch screen displays"
I guess i wont risk my baby..

iDrops, and most other scratch removers, are only for plastics... not glass, which is what your N1 screen is. You'll either create microscratches on the screen or remove part of the top coating on the screen.
i used t-cut glass polish on my nexus it got rid of the scratch i got when i stupidly put my phone in the same pocket as my keys
and a chamois leather is great for stubborn finger prints
To be honest, any mild abrasive would probably do. It's not as if the N1 has any anti-reflective coating or anything. Even a simple toothpaste and microfiber cloth would do the trick.
I find toothpaste is great at removing light scratches, won't cost you anything either.

Try PlastX from meguiers. Ived used it and its safe. Try in a corner of the screen first. Be sure its clean. Rub gently with a cotton fiber towel, not a bathroom towel.

Anti shatter proof layer replacement.

I hate screen protectors. They look ugly & wash out screens.
I've never installed one on any device.
My Xperia Play had an anti shatter proof layer (ASPL) installed out of the box which was also too washy & got removed.
However.
I'm ok with the ASPL on the Z. I was going to remove it if it washed out the screen but it's quite livable with.
Only problem is, the layer itself is a scratch magnet.
I've never scratched up any of my naked screens too bad my the ASPL on my Z has received a couple of minor scratches after only a couple of days.
A Google search hasn't shown up any replacement ASPL's for the Z.
Do you think SONY will release them for after sales?

I too hate screencovers but i bought my XZ outright so its too expensive to get damaged. I even tried to put the screencover that comes in the box on top of the anti shatter film but that was a disaster with about 50 air bubbles which looked awful. Don't really know what to do next because like you i have heard the anti shatter film marks easily. I have no scratches yet but mine seems to have loads of static and is attracting dust and fluff really badly.

I think these are standard screen covers which are supposed to go on top of the anti shatter film to protect the film from scratching.

I'm 99% sure this is correct.
The ASPL factory fitted on the Z will be MUCH thinner than the screen protectors in the box.
I got some spare ultra clarity screen protectors off eBay which were super easy to apply. Absolutely no bubbles, feel good now they've settled and don't appear to have hampered display quality.

both the arc and x10 came with screen covers (ASPL's) in situ and spares in the box, I'd just presumed the ones in the XZ box were spare ASPL's?
after all isn't an ASPL just a screen protector? - any well adhered film/screen protector would help stop the screen from shattering
i'm currently looking for an aftermarket anti-fingerprintscreen protector like SGP's ultra oleophobic which I had on my Galaxy s3, it was really good at resisting smudges - the ASPL is a smudge magnet!

So there's an extra layer on the screen?

Yes there is an extra layer on the phone, when you remove it, the front Sony logo will be gone.
I removed mine because my phone didn't came with extra screen protectors, else I would have installed them over the antishatter sheet, just the way Sony recommends.
Well this is news to me, I think I'll leave my anti shatter layer on for a bit.
I think I'll need some more screen protectors soon, preferably ones that resist finger prints if anyone can recommend any good brands and UK retailer

Hi all

I e-mailed mediadevil asking if they were planning on releasing one with oleophobic coating, got this response...
"I'm afraid we're unlikely to release an oleophobic version -- some brands do use this material, however it does not meet our standards for several reasons. First, this material often has a blue tinge, and we only sell protectors that are completely clear. Second, it is much more likely to experience the 'rainbow effect', and third, while it does show fewer fingerprint marks, it has also been our experience that the fingerprint marks that do appear are more difficult to clean.
If you have had a different experience with oleophobic screen protectors, we'd be very interested to hear about it, however at the moment we have yet to find a material that does not have these issues."

Nope, just good ole:
1. Clean the screen off (Make sure no dust, lint, etc are on the screen)
2. Don it on the phone and use the cam cutouts as guide.
3. I did get dust and lint after installation, I used clear tape to take off the sp a lil and used another tape to get those lint/dust.
viola..
took about 5-10 mins for me to install perfectly.
Screen protector and water
Hi Guys,
I bought a Krusell Frostcover and had a front screen protector installed today. I don't remember its brand, the shop assistant threw its packaging out. I remember it was sort of blue, and it had a microfiber cloth included...
I never had a protector before and I'd like to know how it reacts to water. I'm not planning to go scuba diving with the phone, but since it's water resistant, it will probably get sometimes. May it affect the film? Loosen it? Or no problem, unless it gets underneath it somehow?
Thanks in advance!

I have had rhino shield on my nexus 4 and nexus 7 also for my xperia z. The first generation where not very good. They scratched easily and also got dented easily. On my nexus they didn't cover much of the screen and on my xperia the one they sent had issue with the back protector. I have ordered the second generation since they were giving the people who backed them on kick starter free second gen ones. I have not received them yet so cannot comment on them as of now.
These have been very good so far they are apparently made of gorilla glass so they are scratch resistant and have anti finger print coating. The best I have used so far. These are 9H and rihino shields are I beleive 5H.

Back glass screen protector

Was anyone able to find a GLASS screen protector for the back on Pixel 4 XL? That would be for the black version which happens to have a smooth glass back. I would think the frosty versions might have an issue with adhesive.

I will take a photo of it later, but slickwrapz has a cork back piece that i've been using for about 2 weeks, it covers the whole back and feels super nice in hand and has been getting really great patina, it sits flush with the camera bump too, so that is a plus. I absolutely recommend it.

Interesting. Does it seem like it's insulating the phone's heat though? I feel like cork might be too much of an insulator and it'll keep too much heat from escaping the back side.
