Every day, I have to reset the default application for everything on my phone. Even if I check "ALWAYS" after selecting a particular app, the phone forgets the default after each reboot, and then prompts me again.
For example, when I open a video in my gallery, I get the prompt below. MX Player is already highlighted, and I click "ALWAYS." Now all of my videos in the gallery open in MX Player, but after a reboot, I get asked this question again. Please don't tell me this is normal behavior on Galaxy devices.

*edit* - Another example: I keep turning off Samsung's keyboard and Swipe and a couple others, but every time I reboot, those keyboards are ticked on again! Why!!!
Funny you mention that
My phone has been doing the same thing of late and it is very annoying. It started when I rooted my phone however I think that wasn't the cause because as far as I can remember at first it was alright but when I installed su too system and I installed twrp and partitioned internal memory that's when it started but I could be wrong.a fix would be great

I'm also rooted. My friends, who are not rooted, are not having this problem. And I've gotten barely any traction in my posts about this on various sites -- likely because it's not a pervasive issue. It's become so annoying that I'm considering unrooting the phone for the time being.

Just updated my US GSM (xt1034) to KK443 last night, had done a restore from the factory image because I had made a change to the system making the OTA fail and complain about my gmail apk.
Anyhow, all went well, 443 was running, restored apps via TB, everything was kosher. Seems like the issue of it playing an annoying beep when unlocking the lockscreen started right after I went to the Motorola site to test the lost device thing. I told it to play an alarm, it worked, could not turn it off like you can do with Google's Device manager. Had to power off via the menu while the alarm was blaring, had this rogue beep upon lockscreen unlock ever since.
Goddamnit! Pissing me off. Hate to do a factory reset after I just did the full monte last night.
Any bright ideas?
Googling failed me btw.
Added a wav of the sound, plays along with the regular Android sound which you can't hear. Had to zip it, can't upload wavs here?

Went back to the Motorola device manager page to try to re-enact and this is what they call "Peace of Mind"

I encountered this exact problem on my G...after much headaches and fidgeting with settings....decided to simply reboot and re-use the moto website to ring youmy device again & after unlocking your phone the beep should go away
Hey guys, I just had some trouble with my SM-T320.
Yesterday I updated Kies and today I saw Samsung was updating something in the background. I really wish these guys would notify me before messing with my device.
Ok, so I used my tablet for a bit and a strange question started popping up: Do you want Google to periodically check your device for security issues? You can change it later in google settings. (or something to that effect). Then suddenly an app said it needed root privileges. That's odd, all apps that needed root were already granted. So I went to SuperSU to check if this app was there and was correctly configured. The SuperSU said I didn't have root. WHAT?!?!? What you mean I don't have root?
Okay, 2 Samsung updates, 1 on the tablet and another on the laptop, and I did connect the two of them. Must be it. So I started searching for how to root it again. First, however, I decided to reboot, just in case.
After reboot I went to root checker basic to see if anything changed. Well, it started to take longer to check so my hopes went up, but still said I didn't have root. I kept trying and trying. Suddenly SuperSU awakens and asks me if I want to grant root to Root Checker. YES!
Ok, at this point I was baffled. What the hell is going on here? Then I noticed the last app I installed wasn't there anymore (the icon). So I thought, was that app? I went to the app drawer to check and TONS of apps were missing. I exited and went there again and everything was there again.
Please someone enlighten me what's going on here! I did scan with Malwarebytes, just to be sure, and nothing was found.

Hi guys this is my very first topic. I have been using this phone for about 6 months and this problem started a few days ago and it's being annoying. Hopefully someone here would know what can I do.
The screen sometimes gets stuck just like freezing and doesn't respond to any kind of touch well the only touch working is if I hold the home button and it only vibrates. The way that it gets back to normal is to press the lock button and unlock the phone again, sometimes it takes a while to unlock it is like it's not responding, after a few attempts it gets back to normal... since yesterday this problem is more frequent so I am here hoping that some kind wisdom person could help me. And the other thing is that when it's stuck the screen change colours like multicolor it could be the entire screen or just part of it. Here some pictures of how it looks I don't know if it's firmware or hardware

You know, to me it sounds like there are an app, or a few that are not behaving when loaded, and clogging the CPU. As you can, take a look at the apps you are using, and see if you can whittle down the ones, and or uninstall some that may seem the culprit.
If you have a backup, perhaps restore to an earlier time when the phone was operating smoothly, and slowly . . . slowly over days or a few weeks, restore an app or two, and see where it becomes poorly functioning again.
Also, look in settings/Battery etc and see what apps are running when the unresponsiveness occurs again. Write those apps down, and as time goes for a few days/week, see what the common denominator apps show up.
Backups are a wonderful thing.
My Oppo A7 has this kind of, like, phone manager or os system that keeps deleting my residual files and cache once every several days/overnight. I used system log to keep track of the processes involved. Well, I can only find the system UI in work during the same time my files were deleted. But, it was not in the process of deleting my files. But, when I was observing all the system apps i found some, like phone manager plugin that does not stop its process although i had disabled its usage access, where it keeps enabling itself back. My file always got deleted around 3 am. Disabling phone manager, having its self frequency off, or deleting related running process through developer options doesn't seem to work or just works for several days. Anyone has any idea how to stop my phone from rambling in the morning, deleting my files willy-nilly without my permission, only to wake up feeling raged? Here are the screenshots of the clean storage function on phone manager that i suspected deleting the files. I also think it has something to do with cheetah cleaning master.

Anyone ? I hope anyone here can tell me the package name, so I can delete it or method to delete it.
No one will help you since oppo is 1000 have tons of security patches no advance tech will be able to help you also they removed fast boot and rooting method and adb stuffs
Hey everyone, im always caught up trying to help old people with their phone. I feel like UI are designed to be unusable for logical people or those unfamiliar with the main function of everything being so discrete in view its effectively hidden or for first time users is represented By a sometimes unstandardized iconography. Anyway... can you help me out. One of the main issues is how every app opens to what you were doing last time pressing the icon. 90% of the time this is infuriating and gets older people lost. They usually have a different reason each time to use any app or access any feature, so going back to where they were last time makes the process of using their phone always different and unpredictable if they cant remember the fuk.. so every button press effectively dumps them somewhere different. They dont have a picture of order in their mind like me of what they will find a step back as the are often just stumbling forward. So the back button is confusing in general and home takes them right out and any app takes them right back to 4 steps ahead. Is there an over riding setting to make every app, even settings, messages anything and everything... when pressing the icon it starts fresh step 1. Probably better on RAM too. It has to exist or a front end dev needs stranglature. THANKS!
Elder people should use a phone with /e/OS pre-installed.
