LS996 Working With Non Sprint Carriers For Free - LG G Flex 2

I got the sprint version to work with other carriers, even Verizon! I haven't figured out how to make MMS work on Verizon, but I do get LTE most places. I didn't have to activate on Sprint and didn't have to go to the store.
Here are my steps:
1. Activate device on free plan on Ringplus.net
2. Call Sprint at 1-888-211-4727. Go thgrough the prompts until you reach someone. Tell them that you have a Sprint phone that is not active on Sprint and you would like to sim unlock the phone, aka domestic SIM unlock.
3. Restart your phone and give it a few minutes to unlock. It will most likely reset itself.
4. Pop in a new SIM card and see if it works.

Quick question are you rooted?

Did you get at&t working

I am not sure if you have to activate it to Ringplus to get it unlocked from Sprint.

It should be GSM unlocked by Sprint directly, no need to activate it with RingPlus if you don't want to use it with Sprint network.

All carriers will SIM unlock devices that are not activated and paid for or out of contact.
Hardware may limit some 4G functionality with different carriers since each carrier uses different frequency ranges.

The sprint unlock is through a signal they send to the phone. It will not work if it's not on an active line, unless you take it in to the store. That was my experience at least, and I've seem other posts saying the same.
I didn't have an AT&T sim to check

[Q] If activated on Sprint, can switch back and forth to AT&T?

If the phone/uSIM is activated on Sprint and working, what happens if you put in another uSIM from AT&T (or T-Mobile) ?
Is only the AT&T (or T-Mobile) uSIM active and only voice data work with this new uSIM phone number?
I want to use this one phone to switch between Sprint and AT&T. As it sounds like the Sprint portion of the CDMA is activated without the uSIM.
I don't want a missmash of both with there is another AT&T sim in there..?
thanks
I'm not sure what you are really looking to do. But I have sprint and activated my phone on sprint. I then wanted to test out T-Mobile so I bought a prepaid sim starter kit. I just reactivated another phone on my sprint account and then popped in the T-Mobile sim and activated the phone on their network and it now it has the T-Mobile number and data services active.

So can you go between Sprint and T-Mobile service by, powering off the phone, inserting the different uSIM, powering on, then its 100% active CDMA/LTE or GSM/LTE?
I want to be be able to switch between Sprint and AT&T, by just swapping SIMs. I have read the uSIM isn't used in the authentication of the Nexu5 phone...?
Anyone else done this yet?
I'm curious as I read that you have register the phone on Sprint network aswell as using their SIM for LTE.
If using another non-Sprint SIM, is it still going to be on the Sprint network aswell as the non-Sprint network?
To activate and use data on sprint you need to have a sprint sim. Once activated if you take out the sim all you have is voice. If you put in an att/tmo sim it will automatically load up a default apn and connect. Sprint service is not available while the att sim is in place.
If using an mvno like straight talk just add or edit the apn to the correct settings.
When done with att pull the sim and put sprint back in. Reboot and you are back on sprint.

Thanks, thats what I wasn't sure about, whether putting in an AT&T would prevent the phone connecting to Sprint Voice.
My Sprint SIM is on order, so I haven't activated it on their network yet.

The sim is used but you have to call or chat to activate. Hopefully at some point sprint will end this part and just tie the sim to the account so we can swap between sprint phones without activation. Once activated yes you can swap between sprint, att and tmo simply by swapping sims.

Any sprint repair center should now have sims on hand and know what they are for.
Google voice integration for sprint is great for this type of thing. one number for multiple carriers on a single phone. nice...
Got it all working now, with both a Sprint SIM and an AT&T SIM.
The only downside is when I open hangouts, it asks me to verify/skip the phone number on each swap.
I mostly use AT&T for work, Sprint is my home cell that I hardly use.
Hi guys, for those of you that have activated on Sprint, does Sprint charge an activation fee ($36?) when you activate the Nexus 5 on your existing line? Thanks!

Yep, just call the international customer service, tell them you need a micro SIM for a nexus5.
I would think this would be such a major feature and selling point. A phone that can jump between almost all major carriers. I don't know of any other single phone that can do this?

[Q] Verizon Samsung Galaxy s3

I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy s3, I have moved it to a straight talk plan, as most of u know there service runs off AT&T and T-moble, Verizon hates AT&T and blocks data use on there network everything but E, What i am trying to find out is can I root my phone and flash a AT&T rom over my Verizon branded phone so it will unlock my 4G? I already have the AT&T sim card in the phone.

I don't think it's going to work. When you signed contract with VZ, they locked your phone to their network. After the contract expired, they will unlock your phone so you can use it on any carrier. If you're not under contract, you can check with Verizon to make sure your network is unlocked, from here on you can use your ATT sim card to register with ATT. Second method, you can search for how to unlock Verizon network and try it. (input a special dial code to access the network unlock hidden menu and unlock from here).Good luck and post back.

The hardware does not support LTE for AT&T. I'd you want LTE on AT&T, buy A GSM phone (or AT&T S3) and live your life. Flashing another carrier rom is not advised by any means on the Verizon S3. Best you'll get with our S3 is edge or 3G. Verizon doesn't hate AT&T, they're incompatible networks because AT&T uses GSM bands and Verizon uses CDMA bands. A small number of phones work across multiple carriers as far as LTE but that's because they have every band included in the phone (for example the iPhone 5S). Other phones on Verizon will only get edge or 3G.

Thats all I really wanted to know i guess, is if the hardware was the same in all samsung galaxy sIII, I am still a noob with smart phones, I thought the hardware was all the same just the firmware was branded to whatever comp. sells them, and with the GSM\CDMA the galaxy sIII runs both.

OK, now I understand what you are looking for. It's not recommend to flash rom from one carrier to another, you could hurt your device. I thought you 're looking to move from VZ to ATT, but seems like you already done that (network unlocked), and now you just want to change the boot animation (Verizon logo during boot up). You should search for VERIZON modified rooted stock rom or custom rom with bootanimation kernel support. Once you installed custom rom/kernel you should able to pick and chose from many bootanimation liking to your taste..and change greeting, display etc...

SM-N920R US Cellular (International) work on Verizon

I am trying to buy the international SM-N920R version of a Note 5 so I can root it.
Will it work on Verizon? I found out that it will work on all of Verizon's bands from this site willmyphonework.net but just want to double tap to ensure I am not wasting my money because just because it should work on Verizon's network I need to know if it is Verizon approved. I don't have the Meid or the ESN to check this so does anyone know for sure? I should be able to pop my Sim from my Turbo and it should work on the international version right?

I highly doubt it, but I'd love to know the answer too. I'd switch phones in a heartbeat.

Why do you doubt it would work? Just curious. The phone operates on all the same bands Verizon does. I could just ask Verizon permission to operate on their network, I'd rathered not. I don't see why it wouldn't work after I throw my SIM in it, but if it doesn't I can ask permission. The only carrier that Verizon says outright no to is Sprint.
I kinda doubt it'll work, but I'm very interested as well, if it works, I'd switch right away.

It doesn't have band 13 which I think is Verizon's main LTE band
I wonder if the OP has tried it and gotten it to work.

If its an unlocked international version and it for sure is CDMA compatible it will work on Verizon's network, and I doubt there will be any hassle connecting it other than the usual service fees. However, I highly doubt that taking your SIM card from your Turbo will actually work, as SIM cards on Verizon's CDMA network are not like the SIM cards of GSM networks where you can take and switch from phone to phone and they work. I have tried this with my phones , a Note 5 and a Note 2 and also a Google Nexus and had anywhere from limited service to no service, I think because Verizon has their SIM cards tied to the actual IMEI of the phone, at least that's my thought. But hey If it works be sure to let us know as I know I would do the same to get root.
it does work. you need to have a verizon sim card that is already active. you have to activate the sim in a verizon phone before starting. you can use any us cellular device that is unlocked on verizon. the s6 edge, edge plus , note 5 all ship unlocked. theyre gsm capable also. the only issue with gsm is that you cant edit the apn. which is what brought me here. looking for a custom rom that would allow me to do so. you get 3g only using a uscc device on verizon and no mms.

verizon sim cards are just like gsm cards. all you have to do is put the card in your new device to switch the service. obvisouly the device would have to have a cdma radio to connect to anything other than lte service but you dont need to provide verizon with meid of your phone when switching.

I don't know if my experience applies here, but I did once switch a user's iPad Air 2 to verizon by just switching the SIM card to a Verizon card. This was done in conjuction with Verizon's corporate customer service who even sent me the SIM card I needed free of charge (probably because it was part of our corporate contract - assume they would probaly not do that for an individual).
I am currently on a Us Cellular r4 variant, and Using a Note 7 ported rom I messed with to work on it.
I often see the carrier on my notification tab say "Verizon"
I know that our phones are locked open, which means in the advanced system menu, ALL channels are locked open, and at least on my phone, I am able to recieve and process signal from most carriers. Our service is LTE/CDMA
I havent tried using a verizon sim to see if it works, but the r4 variant is supposedly "International"... The rom I ported was done by a Vietnamese guy...IDK. All i know is that it works after twrp restoring modem and efs

Sprint galaxy s5 SMG900P

Hello once again. I received 2 sprint s5's from my mom when she upgraded to S6's. I called straightalk asked if I could activate, no, called sprint prepaid, no!! I currently habe straightalk, and am willing to change to sprint amd get a contract, However I have sketchy service at my house, and really wanna test it out first. My question is whoop can activate these phones here in the SE US. Boost? Virgin mobile? I'm fairly granular with flashing and stuff and can read and follow directions. I do see a SIM unlock for non USA mostly, but would try it if all else fails. Right new the phone are factory reset on 5.0 lollipop. I can do what ever needed to get them SIM unlocked so I can activate for another service or just provide me with another provider that will activate. Amy help appreciated.

Youll have to pay for domestic gsm sim unlock, then adjust your apn to new carrier for data. Idoneapps unlocks these phones.

Ok thanks. So if its sim unlocked, and apn adjusted, I just pop sim in and I should be good. Even ifstraightalk tells me I can't use this phone?

Correct.
P.s. you also may have to enable some bands, depending on what carrier also.there are tutorials on that.
You can activate Sprint phones on Ting very inexpensively. Ting uses the Sprint network with CDMA phones.
Ting will check with Sprint to be sure the phones are out of contract and no balance owed.
S5 sm900g wifi popup
Thanks for the replies guys. Ting users CDMA? Mine is GSM, i found the threads about unlocking it. Hopefully i can get it. And one more question, i am constantly getting a pip up saying turning WiFi on will disable Hotspot. Ive done a hard reset, and back on official 5.0 lollipop. Not rooted yet but reading up on it before starting. This S5 lollipop is a bit diff from S3 KK. Thanks for any help or tips.
Sprint has a 14 day trial period. I was running around with 2 phones testing out sprint when I first got it.

How to activate a TracFone/StraightTalk locked iPhone SE 2020 on RedPocket

I have successfully activated a $230 TracFone locked iPhone SE 2020 on RedPocket, and here’s how
What you need to do is go into BestBuy or Target and buy a $1 TracFone SIM kit. Once you have this you will need to remove the Verizon compatible SIM intended for Verizon compatible devices.
Next you will need to go into settings and get the IMEI of the DIGITAL SIM, not the Primary IMEI. If you try and activate using the devices primary IMEI you will receive an error and activation won’t go through
Next insert the new Verizon TracFone SIM into your device, you should see it say “Searching” and then TFW at the top. Go into settings and make sure under Primary that LTE is enabled and set as default.
Next go to the RedPocket activation page https://www.redpocket.com/activate and for ICCID enter in the ICCID of the Verizon compatible TracFone SIM you just purchased and inserted into your locked phone, and for IMEI use the IMEI listed under “Digital SIM” with no spaces. Again, do NOT use the IMEI listed under Primary as this won’t work.
Once you have entered that info in and the fields turn green you can then continue the process of making a RedPocket account, confirming your email and then entering in your billing details, paying for the plan and finishing the final steps to complete activation like saying you want a new phone number and agree to their terms and conditions and then you should receive the message saying it went through with your new phone number.
At this point completely power off the iPhone and wait a few minutes then power it back on and unlock it and continue waiting a few more minutes. Then under cellular settings for the primary plan make sure Data is set to LTE and VoLTE is disabled and off.
I attempted initially to place calls with VoLTE on and it did not work, disabling it fixed the issue.
You should then be able to successfully make a phone call and use data and send texts, the carrier at the top still says TFW and your phone is still locked to TracFone, but you’ve bypassed the lock by programming the Verizon TracFone SIM it accepts with a different Verizon MVNO.
This could work with other iPhone models too however I have not tested this with other iPhone models and cannot guarantee something won’t go wrong especially with the 5G capable devices which use different carrier profiles.
This should work with other Verizon MVNOs however many other MVNOs do not accept regular Verizon SIM cards that aren’t branded to their specific MVNO, for example US Mobile. It is possible you could activate a plan with a VZW MVNO and then ask their support to transfer the plan to a new SIM and give them the new ICCID of the TracFone Verizon SIM however this may not work.
The TracFone SIM kit also comes with an AT&T compatible TracFone SIM which this phone also accepts, and AT&T prepaid’s website also accepts the TracFone SIM ICCID as a valid SIM for service, so it’s possible this may also work to use this device with AT&T prepaid as well however there are absolutely no guarantees and this is pure speculation
Essentially the basis for this is to bypass the carrier lock by using allowed TracFone SIM cards but activating those SIMs with different MVNOs under the same network
I hope to be able to use this same method to allow this phone to be used on other various MVNOs as well besides RedPocket as their plans honestly aren’t that competitive, but this was more of a proof of concept to show this can be done and this locked phone can be used on other carriers without being unlocked or using some sketchy scammy SIM tool since I saw their website was taking ICCIDs of unactivated Verizon TracFone SIMs that work in these locked iPhones.
It should also be noted that any TracFone subsidiary like PagePlus will also work with this phone no issue since they issue TFW branded SIMs out of the box (remember the days when you’d have to pay someone over Skype to flash your Verizon 4G phone to Page Plus with 3G only, glad that’s over)
