Distortion audio in video capture - Ascend Mate 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys (sorry for my bad english)..
You have a problem whit MT7-L09 fw 137SP03 the distortion audio in a video captur in a ambient with high volume? (Concert or music hall)..
I have this problem.. video whit audio very very bad..

I have the same problem with mt7-tl10...... only when high volume sound is recorded
I think the solution is to search for an alternative recording app.

Hi @alexre123! I've purchesed Rec Forge II pro, but in recording have same problem... audio distortion..

only in high volume, right?
in normal volume mine records fine, but in high volume a lot of distortion.

for loud volume it is normal. There is a mode in the audio recorer about with the "concert" preset try that.. if it distort there also.. if not maybe you can get imrpovement thru a 3rd party app..
But bass frequency is usually what cause the audio in these type of microphones..
I would like to add though that I am very very impressed with the audio in video recording compared to other smartphones. But Loud volume I do not know.. I have never been on a concert with the phone but I know it cant handle high volumes here at home..

Hello and thanks ..
The volume in recording (both video and audio) is always high and distorted. I have not found a way to lower it. Do you know how?
I tried to record bringing the volume out down, but nothing changes.
Much use to record my band in the rehearsal room, but so I can not. Thanks!

Maybe You can try to use an external micro

In what format do you experience the distortion? Are you filming in full HD mode ( 1080p) ? I experienced audio distortion when filming in full HD. I have some old films at a football match that I did in May and I have no distortion and the sound was verryyyy loud. That it's intersting. But I was filming in HD mode ( 720 p) not full HD.
Do you have audio distortion when filming in 720p also or you didn't tested? And then I had also different FW. Now I have B125, and then I had B120. I didn't tested yet with b125 to see if I record in 720p the distortion will appear, so I don't know if it't from the firmware or from the video format.
Test it in 720p to see if you have audio distortion and let me know.
Ps: I have mt7-tl10

Hi!! Filmed in 1080 and 720 but still have a distortion..
I've recorded only audio (no video) with an external app (rec forge 2 pro) but have still problem..
I think that we have a decrease a microfone amplification..
I've a MT7-L09 fw B137SP03.
(Sorry for my bad english..)

With previous firmware ( before b137) you had the same problems? I'm thinking could be from the firmware also, who knows...
Your english it's fine, don't worry. It's not my first language also.

Great!
To buy a Mate 7 with this fw.. b137...

[Q] How to improve sound quality during video recording

Is there a way to improve the sound quality during video recording on the Sensation?
When recording loud music in a club or a consert, the quality is realy bad.
I guess the microphone input level is to high.
Is there a working solution for this?

Goto HKCU/Software/Samsung/Camera
Find AudioNormalCodec
the options are:
0 - Default : GSM-AMR-NB 8000Hz 1ch (this is the default but has lots of high pitched noises in the background)
1 - MPEG4 AAC 16000Hz 1ch (this so far is the cleanest audio that I found you can get during video recording)
2 - Qualcomm QCELP 1000Hz 2ch (this is the MMS setting, not good at all for video recording)
I have found this solution, but i can't find "AudioNormalCodec" in my Omnia II...
if you can, pls let me know.

Just came back from a concert yesterday and am really dissapointed about the quality of the sound. picture is just amazing but my girlfriends Galaxy S had way better sound recording. anny progress in this?
I'd read in other thread that unchecking the stereo option in video camera settings the sound was better...

not so sure about that to be honest, recorded at a gig last night with latest revolution hd 4.1.4 rom and the sound was horrible
really would appreciate it if someone knows or could find a way to take the recording volume down a notch or two

Surely there must be an app or developer out there who knows how to fix this mess. Again, another event recording ruined. The htc sensation is fine for unamplified natural voices, but even speech or music at LOW volume is pingy, distorted and generally sux.
The Chic Corea concert I recorded was a total disaster. unticking stereo still not effective. Why does iphone make great recordings, but htc can't get it together? or is this an android issue in general? Don't get me wrong... love android and open source, but really... someone needs to nail this one. Is there any point in complaining to htc? ♥
---------- Post added at 12:10 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:05 AM ----------
Natural voices are ok, but this makes two concert video recordings ruined using my htc sensation. the sound is distorted pingy and beyond painful to listen to. Can't some brilliant developer create an app or fix for this? Is there any point complaining to htc, or are they too busy getting out their latest phone?
Sux that iphone video recordings. Natural voice and music is ok, but anything amplified, even at a moderate level, is ping-distortion city. and turning off stereo setting doesn't help much either. Thanks for the whine, now the cheese.
done some digging and i think, from what i read, android wasn't given a facility to lower recording volume. so i guess that plus a highly sensitive mic equals crappy sound recording with no fix, for the time being hopefully
I don't think it has to do with Android. I remember at some point on my Vibrant I was able to change the setting and got much better sound after. It may have been a DSP manager app I did it through or it could have been a setting when I was using CM7. Either way, I'm almost positive there is a way to adjust it.
sound quality
I have found a big improvement in sound quality by UN checking stereo sound in the video recorder setting menu.
+1 on this, I'd love to figure this out
I agree. This is one of the weakest points of the sensation. We have great video capture - but the sound can totally ruin the experience. If a Dev could figure this out it would be golden!
I am not sure about this, just a quick thought. But MAYBE the noise comes from the mics on the back of the sensation? Maybe HTC didn't thought about turning off the those mic's while recording.
Just a thought...
I believe the stereo recording uses the 2nd mic above the camera, while mono just uses the standard mic, that we make calls with. I did some tests just by covering the mic holes while recording.
I just think it would be great if we could have a DEV take a look at how to lower the mic gain.
There is a thread over in the HD2 forums, that deals with edits to some lib files for mic gain, but I don't know if that would be something to take a look at. Here is the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1162224
We need this fixed!
I think the problem is that there is no normal codec for audio coding. Oddly Andoid revolution HD writes with a frequency of 44,100 Hz, but the quality is very poor, although an order of magnitude better than in HyperSensation. Unfortunaly, developer chamber is at the bottom, and understandably so - because enough other bugs.
Just wanted to check in on this old thread and see if this is all still in issue with the Sensation and the latest ICS Roms? Wondering if HTC has fixed the high mic gain by now?
Thanks

[Q] Video playback buzz audio

Hi all, yesterday I installed the Romulus rom and i begin to testing some things, when testing the camcorder I changed the media.stagefright.record parameter to false to record a video and it worked, but when I reproduced the video I hear a buzz in the audio as if the mic was too sensitive, i tried another videos that I record with another roms and I get the same result the buzz in the audio, then i tried some videos that I download from internet (game trailers, movies, etc..) and i dont hear the buzz in the audio, at last my last test was to tried the recorder video in the pc and again i hear the buzz. The thing is when i played another video in the pc that i record with other rom i hear the buzz too, so my question is Has anybody has notice this with any rom ???? Did other roms use some noise reduction to played the videos that the Romulus doesn't have???
Thank's for the help.
cheers
I just made a couple test videos while on Romulus, and I don't have a buzz.. Everything should be mostly stock on Romulus, so sound/video quality should be no worse than out of the box..
Also, what do you mean by reproduce the video? - just play it? Did you have anything plugged into your phone while you were recording (i.e. usb, headphones) that may cause interference?
One thing you can try is check the "Audio Scenes" settings in the camcorder...
Sent from my mind using XDA

When i'm saying reproduce the video i mean play the video (sorry for the confusion) , I didn't have anything plugged to my phone, but maybe your right i didn't check the audio scenes in the camcorder perhaps the solution is there, thank's for the tip i miss that .
By the way nice job with the romulus, i really like it and the mod lockscreen it's great.
Thank's again.

Low volum while recording with audio recorder / instagram / any other apps

Hi, has anyone this problem too with his Mi Note 3, when recording your voice or music or trying to make a vid on instagram and audio is damn low. Recording with internal video recorder works great and sound is good and loud. I turn up the speaker until max and volume but there is still low volume when playing own recorded sound. Me and my wife have the same phones with rom MIUI 9.6 xiaomi.eu 8.4.19.
Maybe its just a setting?
Has anyone a Solution ?

Hi,
It may happen if you force the speed beyond the hardware capabilities. every hardware has its own limitations.
Let me explain with a simple example. Assume that your hardware is capable of playing 1080p at 60 fps. If you play a 1080p (30fps video) at 2x speed, then your hardware also needs to decode 2x frames. i.e 60 frames per second. But, it's the actual threshold of your device. If you increase more than that, then the video may not be reaching the required speed while audio may play at the required speed. If Audio Video is not in sync, then MX Player will pause the audio for a moment till video catches up with the audio position.
You can check some lower resolution or lower fps videos, It may go up to max speed (i.e 4x).
