So I was going to reinstall Cataclysm ROM because it has been giving me problems the last few days, mainly it's been dropping my WiFi signal forcing me to switch it on and off just to use my phone, like once every minute
So I downloaded the file to my device, and went to flash it, but I wiped the dalvik and cache, and I pressed data I'm pretty sure, 100% by accident cuz I was so mad at my WiFi signal constantly dropping
Anyways now my phone says "No OS Installed, are you sure you want to reboot?"
I just did a few hours worth of research and... nothing seems to work
I've tried a few ADB sideload guides but I can't seem to follow what they're saying since my screen shows something completely different than what theirs shows
I checked a couple forums too and no one else was experiencing what I am
So I've come to you guys to help D:
Basically I have TWRP installed, my computer doesn't recognize the device when I use the flashall.bat in Windows, so I tried a few different cables, same thing
Any other ideas?
I saw the USB OTG method works, should I just buy one of those and try it out?
It's just like an add on hard drive that I'll load the ROM onto right?
Do I have to flash the stock img or can I flash a new ROM, like Cataclysm again, or Carbon or something?
I'm going to go buy one of those USB OTG drives, a Kingston 32 or 64gb one from Canada Computers
#fingerscrossed it works guys!
If you have anything else for me to try let me know!

Flashall.bat, which uses the program fastboot, isnt meant to be used with a recovery (in this case, TWRP). It is to be used on the bootloader.

Back in business! Picked up a couple of USB 32GB OTGs for $15 each (WICKED)
Plugged them into my PC, transferred 3 ROMs over (Cataclysm, XtraSmooth, and Stock IMG)
Just tried Cataclysm now, and it's working, everything was successful, and no problems!
Damn I love USB OTG

If it did not work there, it must have been a missing driver issue. Or your fastboot setup.

Okay so I flashed Cataclysm ROM and XtraSmooth ROM but they both give me a black screen after the white "android" logo is done
I think its the black screen of death
Any ideas on how to get rid of it?

Got it working last night, since I couldn't do it using TWRP or CMD
I just used Wugs Toolkit, selected the bricked / bootloop option, and flashed stock + unrooted it
Loaded the newest imgs available, so I'm good for now
I'll wait a bit, see if the WiFi thing comes back on stock, if not then it was probably something to do with Cataclysm, I didn't even save any logs to hard to see what it was
Thanks for all your help though!
It didn't work because you didn't install the drivers for adb/fastboot properly. Anyhow nice to see your device is working again!

alright so somehow in the process of flashing and going back to stock and what not I messed up my g2x and now I have no baseband or battery info and whatnot, you all know the story. Ive spent the last 5 days on the internet trying everything I could find to get it up and running again and I keep hitting a brick wall.. Yes ive searched and tried multiple things but the one thing that I cant get past is the kdz flashing, everytime, no matter what I do, it always gives me the phone not found error, the USB cable and port are fine and I have the drivers installed and everything. Ive tried on VM Xp mode and in Win 7 Ultimate and no luck. If someone can give me some help/support thatd be awesome.

You can use XP mode to do this, and yes the USB driver will detach. Just re-attach it and the flasher will kick right back in where it left off. I had to do this just twice during the procedure. As long as you stay on top of it you will have no problem.

But the other problem is that it's rooted and all of that good junk....... but I can't mount my phone to my computer... Anyone have any ideas? No clue on how to get into CWM without my power button..
Reboot into recovery from ROM manager.

From ROM Manager you can reboot to recovery at a touch of a button. And depending on which recovery you have you can either use the touchscreen or the softkeys to navigate and select. The search key is the same thing as the power button in recovery.
Oh............................................................................................... I have I think CWM 5.0.2.0? Or something like that.
I also don't know how to flash back to stock. I can't find any flashables. My USB doesn't work even in CWM.

You can use back key for back, menu key to scroll down, search key for selection, home for scroll up then.
So yeah, from ROM Manager, hit reboot into recovery.
Edit: Are you mounting the SD from within CWM?
I can't mount my phone to my computer at all.... Even through CWM. I've tried to post on XDA about it and everyone told me a few things to try and none worked.

Transfer all the stuff you need over WiFi then with a program such as Airdroid when you're booted. Then reboot to recovery and do what you need.
You can't really lock back your phone if your USB is broken though...
I already have all my pictures and stuff backed up on Dropbox since it's what I've been having to use for like months without USB storage. Do you think I'll have to pay for a new phone? I get my upgrade in October. X_X

No.
I simply believe you're having a hard time connecting it to USB, but they don't die that easily. Sadly, most of the time it's a user error there.
As I said, you can transfer stock 4.0.3 rom onto your phone via a software such as Airdroid. Then you reboot in recovery, wipe everything but the SD card, flash stock 4.0.3, reboot.
You would still need to connect via USB to relock your phone though, ideally.
I mean storage has been gone on my phone for months lol. I'd say it stopped working like 4-5 months after I got it. I've tried like 5-6 different USB cables. It would stop working, than one day randomly work for like 5 minutes than stop. Like, when I connect it to my computer it charges, but nothing prompts.

That seems like the usb port. Storage and adb are different but they obviously both use the usb port. Nevertheless, return to stock except for locking the bootloader and bring it back and cross your fingers. Many places will fix it without asking much, even of it's unlocked as long as it's stock rom.
I got a stock image or whatever from this site..

But, will it work as a flashable?

Those have to be flashed via fastboot/adb.
You can use one of the downloads available at Peter Alfonso. It's stock, odexed rom + root.
http://wonderly.com/bb/CRESPO4G/OEM/pete_crespo4g_ota_IMM76D_odexed.zip
Don't forget you have a Crespo4G, for Sprint, so you cannot use stuff meant for T-Mobile or AT&T. Sadly the 4G community being smaller, the full ROM package is hard to find, only OTA updated being available. This is the closest I could find.
Thanks a bunch! I just had a buddy of mine come down and he gave me a normal phone to use until like some odd day next week and he's just gonna get it swapped out for something new. He said the nexus is beyond on backorder.
Hello!
Okay, so the weirdest thing has happened with me. My Nexus S (i9023) was working absolutely fine till last evening when it ran out of battery. After I came back home, I put it for charging and switched it on.
For the first few time, nothing would show except the USB connected/ disconnected screen which appears everytime you plug your phone in. I thought maybe it was just being weird, so I took out the battery and booted it up again. This time I am just stuck at the Google Logo! It is not going ahead.
I can enter CWM Recovery. However, I cannot mount sd card or usb storage or anything for that matter. If I try and install through .zip it says 'e can't mount sd card'. I can't format my sd card either, same problem of can't mount. I thought if I tried pushing a ROM in by ADB that might work.. It did transfer the file it showed that in the cmd window. However, CWM refuses to mount my sd card or my usb storage.
So basically, in essence, I'm locked out of my Nexus! Please please help. I'm really lost and confused now.
Thanks so much.
Alex
Similar problems below in this thread with solutions.
Let your phone sit for an hour with the battery out, Download Wug's Nexus Toolkit from the development section, download drivers from there and install stock boot img then re-root.
I have never seen it before but seems like this prob is coming up a lot lately. It can be fixed. Good luck.

Thanks for your reply. I'm starting now. I have a doubt, how do I install stock? Since I can't seem to be able to mount anything..
"It can be fixed" - few words have given me this much hope in my life! Thanks a lot!
EDIT: I guess you mean flash through ADB right? Okay, let me try that. I really hope you are right. Some of those other problems lead to paying up! Ouch.
Hey! I just tried using WUGS.. for some reason it does not make the final boot and instead says: 'Fastboot Status - FAILWrite Fail' -- oh god.. I'm trying it again now..
Is there any other way out? :/
Okay, so now my recovery is also gone after using WUGS.. oh man. And the phone isn't starting up. Please please please help? I'm getting really desperate now.
EDIT: And it sucks that I can't post in the WUGS thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766475) because I have less than 10 posts! fml.

Yes, I can get into fastboot - i'm leaving the battery out now - do you think i should try
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase userdata
and then flash everything again?
There is always a way to recover the nexus right? Even if it is hardbricked, right?
I really really appreciate your help.
I too have this problem but after a lot of battery pulls it does eventually start up. It just started happening all of a sudden. Ive heard that heating it up with a hair dryer or heatgun can help and also re-locking and un-locking the boot loader can help as it wipes the card. Could be worth a try.
Any luck Someone? I know it sux big time to feel like your phone is bricked. I am not a dev or expert but it sounds like the prob I had last week, when I posted no one replied so I ordered a GNex thinking all was lost. Before I activated my new phone I felt like I had to fix my nexus before getting started on my new phone and that's my situation. I don't want you to feel like the community has forgot you and thats why I'm trying to help. Were you able to get Wug's Toolkit to recognize your phone after leaving the batt out? I don't know why but I think that's the key. I had to leave mine overnight 'cause I don't have a PC and the next day at my friends house when I plugged the USB in I got that message at the bottom of fast boot "system normal" or something to that effect. Once recognized the stock boot IMG is what you need.
ANY ONE ELSE WHO HAS HAD THIS OR A SIMILAR ISSUE PLEASE GIVE SOME ADVICE. LET'S NOT LEAVE A COMMUNITY MEMBER WITH A LIFELESS PIECE IF PLASTIC. THANKS FORUM.
To set your mind at ease yes, I believe as long ad you have access to fastboot your nexus can be saved.

sounds to me like a hardware issue, since you haven't changed software and it seems like a brick. try flashing stock rom via fastboot, you should be able to google around how you can do that.

Hi, if I'm not wrong essentially what WUG does automatically is what you do by fastboot (erase bootloader, cache, system.. and then flash all of them back) in both system fails to wipe and refuses to be flashed again (flashwrite error).
I don't want to lock it and then unlock it again because I read in other threads that it might lead to a permanent lock with an error for subsequent unlocking - that would leave me completely out.
Anyway, let's see - I've given it to someone to check it up. I'll keep you guys posted. He said he wanted to repartition the sd card.
My intuition says: hardware problem!
So I tried Odin today - and that also did not work it refused to flash the ROM. In the process I somehow managed to mess up the bootloader such that the phone would have some two lights on randomly when I switch on. It doesn't go into download mode either. I next plan to use JTAG to get the bootloader back and then reflash everything. Hopefully, that should sort things out. The Resurrection tool is amazing! I'll keep you guys posted.
Get it going someone?

I have the same problem as you, with the added difficulty of my phone not being recognized by anything other than fastboot. No ADB commands will function. It was charging, rebooted itself into a bootloop, and I have been struggling with it ever since. It is currently a worthless piece of plastic, my favorite phone ever, gone.
I can wipe and re-write recovery all that I want, but it seems as if the sdcard partition that /system and some other stuff writes too is either corrupted or physically damaged. Every time I flash it all via fastboot it all goes as stated, but gives me a fail message on the last two partitions and never allows me to actually write a new ROM or boot image. I wanted to try ODIN but can't seem to get it to recognize my phone in download mode...
Let me know if you have any success or progress!

Hey Nexism! Sorry for the late reply - things've been busy.
The JTAG is giving an internal voltage for some reason - so I've sent it for repair. It'll be repaired by tomorrow or so.. I'm then going to set it back up. It's all already soldered and all, just waiting for the JTAG. I think I've understood how this thing works now. So yeah, I'm hoping it's all sorted. Thanks a lot for your concern man.

I am with the same problem here... I cant turn off my phone or it get stuck in pre-boot phase. Acess recovery and cant mout sd card. Using last stable cm 10.
I think my sdcar is dead.
Same problem here. Around 8 out of 10 times I get stuck on the Google logo, 8 out of 10 times in recovery I can't mount SD card as well. And if I successfully boot, Media wakelocks and my battery drains in sleep as fast as if the screen were on. Please help.
For me I first noticed that my apps weren't using the SD partition. Tried to mount normally (fully loaded ROM) (ROM is SlimBean Beta2), but it would not mount. Went into CWM and tried to mount in there, but it would not work. tried to "Format /sdcard" but "Error mounting /sdcard". My phone still boots and runs fine, but I just don't have access to the SD partition. I don't want to do anything because I need my phone for business. Is there any PROVEN way to fix this yet?
I realize there are multiple threads like this but throughout all of them I have not found any that relate to my issue or a combination of them. I was previously running steel droid 4.5 GB. I was switching back to 4.5 because I could not get wifi hotspotting to work. I forgot to wipe my cache and went to install 4.5 and I am stuck in bootloop. X+Power gives me the android error screen, M+Power allows me into the main menu but I cannot use AP fastboot, SBF motorola will not pick up my phone and the screen will show a connection to the USB cable. I've never had a problem before but also have never forgotten to wipe the cache so any thoughts would help.

I would but I get android error screen with exclamation mark each time regardless of how I access recovery X+Power or vol +,- and Power then going to recovery, I wouldn't have thought that not wiping the cache would have been the cause but it was the one step I didn't do that I normally always do so I was just adding it in for information but thanks for the know how that it wasn't the cause. Any other thoughts since I cant even get into my backup ROM or recovery, I have another SD card not sure if my SD card has become fried for some reason, I will be trying that to see if maybe that is all it is.

Unfortunately you can easily tell that it is not stock ROM by bootloop
Well your computer should recognize your droid that's a common problem with Odin and Samsung one of these steps always work so try then and seen if we can't get your droid recognized NUMBER 4 WILL WORK 99% OF THE TIME BUT TRY THE OTHER METHODS FIRST 1. Use the stock cable or try a difrent port 2. If its possible on your program take out the battery and SD card as leaving them in course problems 3. Run the program as aminstrative 4. Plug the phone in and have it in download mode or whatever you call it WHILE THE COMPUTER IS BOOTING Up This will force the computer to recognize it not the best method but it always works

Hi guys. I have an unlocked AT&T LG G3 D850 and I cannot for the life of me figure out why it's stuck in a bootloop. I've tried just about everything but nothing works. I'm able to access both recovery and download mode, but every time I exit it, I just get thrown into another bootloop. Strangely, I didn't do anything to the phone recently, and it was working absolutely fine minutes before I noticed the bootloop.
First thing I tried was wiping everything and reinstalling the ROM. I am rooted and was running a Marshmallow distro of Resurrection Remix, with TWRP 3.0 (I think) running my recovery. I booted into TWRP and cleared everything, reinstalling the ROM. Didn't work. Okay, so maybe the ROM is to blame. Tried some different versions, still nothing.
I then tried flashing stock firmware using download mode, and kept getting errors at the beginning of the LG flash tool utility. After switching USB ports, it started working. However, after about 30 minutes, it would fail, and I would get a message saying it couldn't communicate with the device. I tried this multiple times to no avail.
Eventually, I ended up running the program one last time and left it for a couple hours. When I got back to check it, I was super relieved because the phone had apparently successfully been flashed back to stock firmware. Keep in mind this process usually only takes 4-8 minutes, whereas my phone took hours to get it done.
Finally, I booted the device, full of hope. NOPE. Bootloop again. I tried resetting it using the volume down combo, but it stays in a bootloop every time.
I am running out of options and getting desperate, and I really don't wanna fork out the cash for another phone if I don't have to. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!

When flashing an AT&T choosing that will make the phone boot into mini OS then you'll select reset/restart and it should boot unless there's an hardware issue

It says download failed at 517 seconds. "We can't communicate with phone." Meanwhile, the phone is back at 0%. Should I leave it for a couple hours like I did the one time it actually worked?

Yes. However, I'm not sure if I was able to manually boot into download mode or the phone automatically did it. I did pull the battery before connecting the phone, and I did hold volume up. I just don't know if I physically put it into download mode myself.
New issue. Got to about 89% when I get an "fboot fail" error message. My phone is bootlooping again.
