Want a monochrome display on your phone? Think kindle paper back display, its kind of cool and saves some battery life, and here's how to do it.....
Step 1: go to "settings"
Step 2: go to "about phone"
Step 3: go to your "build number" and tap it about 7 time it will say "you are now a developer"
Step 4: go to "developer options"
Step 5: go to "simulate color space"
Step 6: select "monochromacy"
And bam you're done, your phone will now display in black and white only, to undo this just go back and follow step 4&5 and then select "disabled" have fun

After using an app, what is the correct way of close/exiting it?
I usually just press the home key or back key on the S4 phone to close the app, not sure if it is really closed, or maybe still running at background.
Thanks

You are doing it properly. Also, in Settings, you can go to Developer options and select the option to kill a process as soon as it is left.
Don't forget to use the Thanks button!

" in Settings, you can go to Developer options and select the option to kill a process as soon as it is left." > Could you explain step by step where to find this? I am at the home page, I click the Menu button and click Settings, I did not see any developer options. Using Samsung S4.
Go to settings, tap "About phone" 7-8 times, and it will unlock the "Developer options" menu under Settings.
Then, to find the setting you are looking for, go to Settings > Developer options and scroll down until you see a setting called "Don't keep activities" which has a description saying "Destroy every activity as soon as the user leaves it"
I use a Sony Xperia so some of the terms may be different from your phone but basically that is what you have to do...
I have completely forgotten how to disable my lockscreen. I don't want any type of security when I press the power button. I just want to return to wherever I was when the screen was shut off. I don't want to swipe or anything to return to wherever I left off. I feel like I've searched everywhere in the options but I can't locate this. Thank you in advance.
You have to gain access to the Developer menu first. Follow these instructions:
1. Go to Settings --> About Phone and tap several times on "Build number" (I think you have to tap it 7 times if I recall alright). You'll see a toast notification telling you that you've become a developer (congrats!)
2. After this you'll see a new submenu under Settings, so go to Settings --> Developer options and uncheck "Screen lock". Voilà.

Thank you! I completely forgot about the developer settings.
Hello,
as you know there's no official option on Google SmartLock to disable lockscreen when you're connected to a specified Wifi network, but I found an easy way to do that without installing any external app and NO ROOT needed.
Step 1:
Open Settings->(Personal) System profiles
Step 2:
Tap on enable (upper right corner)
Step 3:
Tap the + button on the right bottom corner and then select your wifi network
Step 4:
Tap on "On Connect", press "Next" button and then press "NO"
Step 5:
Tap on "<new profile>" and input a name (something like "HOME: lock disabled")
Step 6:
Scroll down and tap on "Lock screen mode", tap on "Disable lock screen" and then on FINISH
Step 7:
Repeat all steps but on step 4 select "On disconnect", on step 5 change name (something like "NOT AT HOME: lock enabled") and on step 6 set "Lock screen mode" on "System default"
Easy right?

I just tried it when I hung my laundry out to dry and it has a little "glitch" compared to Smart Unlock which I've been using so far.
When it disconnects from the home wifi and I turn on the screen for the 1st time after that it's still unlocked, only when I do it the 2nd time is it then locked.
Not a huge big deal as far as I'm concerned - this way if I'm only outside in the garden or in the basement and come back in it probably won't lock at all. Add to that no longer having the need to keep an extra app running ... I'm sold, I've used TiBu to freeze Smart Unlock and will be using your way from here on out
Thanks again :victory:
Wow, awesome
I was searching for apps and xposed modules for that, and now there it is
However I'm encountering problem - when I'm trying to change lockscreen mode I can't do that.
Option is greyed out and system says that its off by device administrator... Strange thing because I don't know how to change that. Any help?

Do you have any app set as Device Administrator? Maybe it's interfering
@LoneDev6 only android's Find My Device. But I disabled it and nothing changed. Strange thing.
Maybe its somehow because I'm using some Oreo-based custom ROM?
Hmmm...
Thanks for help anyway
Wait , am confused
Am on emui & I didn't understand the method
Can someone please explain or make screenshots

The two profiles don't swap on connect and disconnect and you can't have them both active. Do you have a way to automate the switch or you do that manually?
You can use bixby routines if you have it too on your samsung devices to unlock your phone when you are connected to a trusted wifi connection.
OMG, thx bro!!
Just switched my ROM (after a long time) and thought: hmm, magisk , riru edexposed, gravitybox,... and then I found this. XDDDD
Working on Android 10 (bliss rom - nexus 6p)
Hi all. I just want to seek help on the same error when wiping/factory resetting the phone:
"Unable to enable ext4 verify on /block/dev/platform/14700000.ufs/by-name/metadata because /system/bin/tune2fs is missing"
I'm able to boot up to the setup screen but I get stuck at the "Copy Apps & Data" stage. Tried every option but it either just goes back to the first screen or would get an error that "Settings has stopped working" error.
So far I've tried sideloading the latest OTA from this site https://developers.google.com/android/ota#bluejay
13.0.0 (TQ2A.230505.002, May 2023)
It completes without error but even after the install, when wiping/factory resetting the phone, I still get the same error and same situation at the start screen
I'm using a Pixel 6a
Did you flash both slots? Did you flash the A13 radio/bootloader to both slots?

Google "backups" aren't guaranteed to work on versions earlier than what they were saved on. Same with doing an in-place reversion. Set it up like you've never had a phone before, then install the apps you want manually, and do all the sign-ins from scratch.
I have same problem. Bootloader lock. I can't setup my phone.
I am stuck in the same situation.
While setting up the device, I get stuck at "copy apps and data".
I have tried adb sideloading both Android 13 as well as Android 14 images.
Need help, please.
Found the solution and it works!!!!
Step 1: On the "Copy Apps and Data" screen, continuously tap on "Don't Copy" until a dialog box appears with the message: "Settings Keeps Stopping: App Info, Close App, and SEND FEEDBACK."
Step 2: Tap on "Send Feedback" within the dialog box.
Step 3: Select the "Legal" option from the subsequent menu.
Step 4: Click on the YouTube video link provided. This will automatically redirect you to the YouTube app.
Step 5: Access the YouTube app's settings and navigate to the "Privacy" section.
Step 6: Within the YouTube app settings, tap on "Terms of Service." This action should open up the Chrome browser.
Step 7: Visit the following URL: https://addrom.com/bypass
Step 8: Click on the option labeled "Screen Smart Lock."
Step 9: The Settings app should now open, and you will find yourself on the screen lock page. Set up a PIN, and it doesn't matter what numbers you choose. After setting it up, the screen lock page will reappear. Here, you'll need to repeatedly enter the same PIN (around 10 times or more) until you reach a screen with body detection. Feel free to skip that step.
Step 10: Restart your phone.
Step 11: Once your phone restarts, reach the "Copy Apps and Data" screen again and select "Don't Copy." Alternatively, if needed, proceed by clicking on "Next."
By following these steps, you should be able to bypass the issue and continue with the rest of the setup process smoothly.
