Hi,
Many of you may encounter some problems regarding backlight after:
- modifying default settings for backlight
- installing TOMTOM or TCMP
To solve this, just modify the registry key (using regedit if you unsigned your phone, or using http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/fr/index.php?soft=1399)
HKCU / Control Panel / Power => values => put 30 for 30 seconds, 60 for 1 mn, ...
Seen on http://forums.smartphonefrance.info/viewtopic.php?t=40440
thank you
should i greate a new string or how shall i change the value. I have no value right now.
many thanks from italy. was wery strage issue
andrew
I installed my TomTom Mobile 5.2 and the light never went off since.
Excellent, this works great!
its all on default
when i go there i see only one string and it says (value not set)
what value i need to change ? can i get more specific info
please
I'm also alittle curious to what i actually need to change. There is only one value there, and it is set to 4, other then that there's just the add-key.
on mine it was set to a really long number like 96237342 or something after i installed core player. i just removed it and set it to 60 and it worked.

Thanks alot, from South Africa... Thinking that i was about to restore to factory defaults, AGAIN... help appreciated...
Thanks a heap - works also on CorePlayer, even though I shouldn't have to mess with the registry because of an app that cost $25.

mine was "Display", set it up to 30 it will work
Good work laita56
first of all, merci beaucoup laita56
as laita56 explained it very well already (thanx mate), i will try to add some more infos for the curious of us.
if followed the steps that laita56 did (see first post), you should already have "Mobile Registry Editor - v1.1" on your
computer. Please start that application.
You should see this:
know click on the "+"-signs of
+HKEY_CURRENT_USER ,
+ControlPanel ,
+Power ,
click on the folder Power (the one that you just expanded)
in the right half of "Mobile Registry Editor"-window, make a right click and select "New > String Value"
till here the whole procedure looks like this:
in the "New String"-window that has opened, you have know to input the disered values. First we name it, in "Value Name" we type "Display". Secondly we will give the Timeout value, in "Value Data" we (as example) "30" for 30 seconds.
this looks like this:
finally click on "Ok" and we're done!
Softreset your phone to activate the new values.
Happy reg editing!
Mysterious re-appearing problem identified and eliminated
I will continue on this thread as it best matches the problem that many are experiencing. While the solution the "problem" that many applications are creating is outlined below, many will "mysteriously" see the problem reappear again after some time.
Well, the reason is simple: In their infite wisdom, HTC have chosen to replace the default display timeout handling (stored in HKCU\ControlPanel\Power value for Display) that seems MS Standard by a private setting - that allows to have different display timeouts if running on battery or on AC.
Unfortunately calling the settings panel for the power-settings will (by accessing the HTC tooling for manipulating these values) enforce the HTC-handling by deleting the key Display at HKCU\ControlPanel\Power and thus bring back the old problem again!
So what?
Well there is a key "OnlyDisplayTimeout" which has to be created in HKLM\Software\HTC\PowerManagement and set to "1" - this will change the HTC panel behavior to the MS intended and it will work on that single value from then on only.

Creat a new value...nameisplay value:what u like...15 30 60 etc.
it'll work well!
You need to create a key "Display" (type DWORD) and assign the value for the timeout. You must create the other key "OnlyDisplayTimeout" (type DWORD) and assign the alvue "1" as well to keep the settings of "Display" alive even after calling the Settings panel Power options.
You can even ONLY create the key "OnlyDisplayTimeout" value = 1 as from then on the Setting-Power will exactly work on the Display key - even create it if it was not there.

I found that Magician have a low-bandwidth Bluetooth...
I must set low BitPool profile and 22050 to 44100 Hz,or it will stuck for a while, and again...
And it did not support "Suspend Delay"(I don't know what it is,but this parameter included in BTA2DP.dll),so I removed this setting.
Thank you very much for this app, it makes it easier to configure the Magician!

Downloaded..
So, this means we must first uninstall the speakerphone patch from Searcher12 (if we're already installed it)?
BTW, I think the 2 s/w released before (splash screen changer & sms back img) would be nice if you merge them into this one...
You can use original speakerphone_patch still, they have the same parameters, just the file size, newer is 4KB only, original is 7KB.
If you want the newer one, delete \Windows\Speakerphone_patch.exe and run this app again,a newer Speakerphone_patch.exe will be extracted.
splash screen and sms background image will take bigger file size and they are dependent on images,so I removed them...
Ok, I got it.. Thanks...
if you could add an option to set a ringtone from the card that would be great but i'm not sure if the card is active when device is in stand by. Anyway I could add a ringtone to the ringtones list in settings/sound and notification but only from \windows directory. For some reason it didn't work from card.
to set a ringtone I did the folowing:
HKCU/ControlPanel/Sounds/ringtones here I added the new file name to the list as Ring-MyRing .wma
This makes it appear in the ringtones list in settings\sounds and notifications
HKCU/ControlPanel/Sounds/RingTone0
changed SavedSound and Sound entries with the file's path \Windows\Ring-MyRing .wma
HKCU/ControlPanel/Sounds/RingTone2
changed Sound entry with the file's name Ring-MyRing .wma
I think RingTone2 contains the name of the file that is called from the list and RingTone0 contains the full path of that file
modifying HKCU/ControlPanel/SoundCategories/Ring/Directory to Storage Card didn't have any effect for me. When trying to select the file from the list in setting it says that the file is corrupted.
So it only works from main memory for now. Any solutions ?
I asked Cotulla for Power Management of SDCard today, unfortunately,SDCard will be removed when device run into Suspend mode,so system will resume to default RingTone.....
The working RingCategory is RingTone0,you can create a folder name "My Documents" in Storage Card, system will detect sound files there, but it should not work after Suspend as my following reason...

It works, even after long suspend.. Without using 3rd party s/w or drivers or registry tweaks or anything else..
I don't know why, don't ask me...
As you said, for adding custom ringtones just create "my documents" folder on storage card, and you can put all ringtones (mp3, wav, wma) there..
Except for phone calls, inside "my document" folder, create a new folder named "My Ringtones" and you can put ringtones for phone calls in there..
Note that for alarms tone, you must put it inside "windows" folder (\my device\windows), and it must be .WAV files only!
Not just ringtone, but this apps also works well after suspend, I installed almost all of my apps in storage card (you know why..)
Wooh,so strange...I've tried them before but it often resume to default ringtone...
Alarms support wav files only...
Yes it's strange...
Not just mine, but one of my friends also have a magician running Cotulla's WWE-03, and we're both doesn't have that problems...
I'm running WWE_O3 also...
Keep File Explorer opening, push power button to make your device run into Suspend for 5 seconds, push it on,what will you see?"Storage Card" in original position or dropped to the bottom?
card is disabled for me in suspend mode

Android allows for customization of 8 bands of sound, each with individual values for gain, frequency range, type and qf. The EQ settings is disabled per default in our X10s, and this and more information is stored in a file called AudioFilter.csv (/system/etc/).
I wrote a handy little JAR-application that helps you edit this file and save a new copy on your PC. With our new found root privileges, this can then be pushed to device and overwrite the existing settings, modifying your X10's sound levels as you see fit.
As the /system/ parition is mounted as read-only filesystem, we can't simply push files straight to /system/etc. Therefore we will push the file to the /sdcard/ and, remount the partition as read-write, and then use the superuser privileges to copy the file over and replace the existing one.
Start by editing the AudioFilter.csv. Here is a copy of the original X10 settings file (Download: MegaUpload, MediaFire). Open it in the app, and edit it to your liking. Then save it as a new copy and follow the instructions below on how to replace the current settings. To enable the EQ, set "Enabled" value to 'FFFF', and then play with the bands' individual values. When you have the EQ set, move on to the step by step instructions:
1. PC: "adb push AudioFilter.csv /sdcard/
2. PC: "adb shell mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock2 /system"
3. X10: "su"
4. X10: "cp /sdcard/AudioFilter.csv /system/etc/"
5. X10: "reboot"
And there you go, your settings should be changed after boot. I am new to Android, so please correct me if I am completely lost on the matter.
This is not yet working, so no need to download yet - if you don't want to help out of course!
Download: MegaUpload, MediaFire
Please do not redistribute or mirror this application without my concent.

Looks like good work.
You know Java, we have root, why not making an android app to do just that?
What's the point of running commands when you can do it directly from an app?

Yes, that would naturally be the next step. I just wanted to see if people found this useful at all first..?
If there were an app for this, i would be the first to DL it
Has anyone tried this yet. I'd love to try it, but not sure how the values work, within the program :/
It maybe worth listing what each of the bands do and also what codes to use to increase the volume or decrease the volume.
This may also be useful

Edit: Do you have a link to explain the freq codes?
I don't understand instruction how to apply the equalizer, I havent also my x10 rooted but I will do.... could anyone do instructions how to instal the eq, step by step?????

Download both links, Mr Rusch's csv, and x10 EQ. Open eq, hit open file, find csv you downloaded. To apply follow the script on the first page.

If I may assume this works like any other normal EQ: The bands themselves are not controlling different things as someone said here before, but rather different frequency ranges. So basically, per the default settings - band1 are the very lowest of frequencies (most probably rumbling "bass" sounds), and band8 are the highest (sounds we can probably not even hear). I will try to explain it part by part..
Gain: This is volume increase/decrease, normally measured in dB.
Freq. (Frequency Range): This is the peak of the frequency range, which together with Type and QF determines the effect on the sound curve.
Type: This is the type of filter used on this frequency range. I believe 1 represents a lowpass filter, 2 a highpass filter, and 3 a notch filter. There may be more types, I don't know.
QF (Quality Factor): This is, simply put, the width of the curve in this frequency range. A low QF usually affects a wide frequency range, and a high QF usually a narrow one.
As for the values used, these are all half a byte of hexadecimal. 0 is zero, or null. FFFF is max, and would in decimal represent 65535. So, the frequency values used by standard (from band1 through 8) are 400, 500, 2000, 4000, 5000, 8000, 9000, 18000 in decimal, and probably actually a Hz value.
So, the values you enter have to be in HEX. Use a decimal to hexadecimal converter if HEX values are completely foreign to you.
app please! great job man

Enable needs to be set to either 0 or FFFF (0 = off, FFFF = on). This toggles whether to use the EQ or not.
When opening the original enable is set to 0. Therefore its turrned off. If we turn it on and save it. Would we ntice any difference?
This is a very simple mod to enable the Volume-Up Torch feature on the Lockscreen in KK and Lollipop TW ROM, yes including OA8.
A note about the usage of the Flashlight. The mod stay enabled for 30 seconds after the screen goes dark, ie. you have 30 sec to press vol up to get your Flashlight On once the screen is dark.
You just need Root and a SQL editor.
Settings Storage -> settings.db -> system
add two entries:
torchlight_enable = 1
torchlight_timeout = 30000
Reboot

It is not a file, it is a database, you'll need SQLlite or any other SQL editor.
You then select Settings Storage

it's not a perfect solution sometimes you have to "wake up" the up volume button by lighting up your screen with the power button briefly, hit the power button again to shut screen off then try the volume up button, torch should work then. sounds like its a hassle but its just three quick button clicks.
Well it's not sticking, the lines are being removed, how, I have no idea what would be writing over the file?

Make sure you are in r/w mode and not r/o if your using Root Explorer. if your using ES Filemanager make sure you granted root access and have it enabled in settings.
It would have warned me about not having root privileges, and I'm set to always grant... Funny thing is, it now sticks, so that's weird.
Only thing I was missing from xposed was my flashlight.. This will definitely hold me over till they get that fixed..
Can someone explain how to do this on lollipop? I updated the database located in the directions in the link below but it doesn't stick. I go back in after a reboot and they new lines are gone.
http://pocketnow.com/2015/01/01/nexus-6-tethering
edit - I copied the database out of that area, made the edit, pasted it back and it sticks now. It still doesn't work. I see another database entry for torch_light = 0. Is that overriding the new entries?
I can´t find Settings Storage with aSQLliteManager. Where is it? on the SD card or on the system drive?
Before I start, this is not a app for Poweramp. This is a equalizer value for the app.
Credit for PA-CEQ
@San_X for the Balanced Settings back in 2014 concept linked here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2674303.
JohnRTitor for testing PA-CEQ 3.0.
PA-CEQ or Poweramp Community Equalizer is a community driven equalizer for Poweramp, Poweramp Equalizer (not a app) and other devices which that improves audio fidelity of songs.
I am aware that this has been posted 5 years ago on the XDA forums. I actually used that preset before making PA-CEQ but felt something off about it. PA-CEQ is actually based on the same preset with some changes made to it.
How do you install PA-CEQ?
1. Go to Releases linked on Github and download the latest PA-CEQ.zip file in there. Select the version of PA-CEQ to use, choose either the Normal or Apple DAC option and copy the equalizer prefix to Poweramp/your device.
2. Copy the values within the screenshot to Poweramp or your device or import the equalizer file inside the For Poweramp Equalizer folder to Poweramp Equalizer.
Reserved for any needed added info. Not a bump.
For anyone wanting to compare or find a estimate equalizer to San_X's settings, here is a link to it. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CQmyyIsFs6ax9ba0FMYMqdh4kgziSIdP/view?usp=drivesdk

Yeah I should have originally posted the screenshots here with a loaded preset 2nd. I think I might have to update how it plays a bit since some devices have a bit of issues with high low frequencies in BT like cars or Apple's Dongle DAC. I do have a preset set for that one soon though.

Released PA-CEQ 2.1 now.
I used the 31 band preset to calibrate the standard 10 band preset that normally anyone uses for their devices and is a tad improved on 2.0 with fixed bass/vocals. https://github.com/GanstaKingofSA/PA-CEQ/releases/tag/2.1
PA-CEQ 3.0 is now released with a massive improvement to the dB preset and support for Parametric EQ, includes a Poweramp Equalizer Import File, and less gain aggressiveness as the last few revisions. This also should get rid of audio distortion that was present in the past revisions of PA-CEQ. If you wanna learn more or want to try it out, you may do so by going here: https://github.com/GanstaKingofSA/PA-CEQ/releases/tag/3.0
I highly recommend all using PA-CEQ to try it and those that haven't or have but didn't like the last few to try it out and see for yourself.
