HTC One E8 Update Troubles - HTC One E8

I am doing everything I can to try and install the update for lollipop, but nothing I try works and none of the stock roms want to flash. I don't know what's wrong and I'm just trying to get this device back to it's factory settings. Please someone help, I'm sick of kitkat and I'm really getting sick of this useless phone....

what is your cid/mid ?

I rooted my HTC one E8 dual SIM India a week ago and yesterday I got security update (stagefright) , I'm looking for ways to flash OTA without losing root access, I tried 'flashify' app, but I think I'm doing it wrong.
And if it's not possible to do it without losing root, I'd root again but where can I find stock recovery for my E8?
Current software number:- 2.33.720.4

[Q] Convert Verizon M8 to International...Is it possible?

Is it possible at all to convert Verizon carrier unlocked M8 to Internation version..to receive updates from HTC outside US?
Currently phone is in global network mode on GSM network in asia. But updates from Verizon are only available on CDMA network.
HTCDev has
One M8 HTC WWE zip 3.4.0 v4.4.2 91.3 MB 1.12.422.19
this file available for download.
My Theory:
1. Install weaksauce and get temporary root
2. Use firewater method to achieve S-OFF
3. Install twrp recovery
4. Flash above zip file.
Will this work?
Another Q:
1. Lets say above method works....will it restore recovery to stock? Because htc updates will only work on stock recovery right?

If you go to the main HTC One M8 threads.. they have a conversion thread for M8 to International.. and if you read it, it says there is no support for CDMA only GSM..
Verizon = CDMA
Sorry.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708589
Imo Scott's roms ie clean rom is closest to stock than stock. You can Soff and still keep its ability in tact and change what u want to as long as you don't change recoveries

I wish it was so I could get some GPE going that has everything working. Really the only big killer for me is not being able to browse the web and be on the phone at the same time.
I just don't understand why the 2 versions of phone are so different. I mean the VZW version can work on an international system right? Doesn't the VZW version version have the same hardware as the other models just not being used? Or just maybe VZW is just a bunch of spoil sports? I'm not sure if which but either way I wish I could convert mine to work with the stock GPE.

Exactly my point. If the hardware is same it should be possible to change the software and convert from Verizon to International.
At least can someone explain why it's not possible? May be any chances in future?
Just curious -> Noob!.... ??

i can only speculate because of verizon's CDMA for Voice and SMS that the international HTC updates won't have the correct radios or bands that work specifically on verizon's band.

What you should do is the following.
Root and S-OFF. Install custom recovery, flash one of the latest rooted Verizon roms from the development section. If you want, flash the radios too.
So, about converting it to international, I'm not 100% sure, but I think the hardware in the Verizon phone is incompatible with the International firmware.

Do you have any friends who are on VZW and have either a Moto X or iPhone 5/5S? The reason I ask, is because those 2 phones take a nano SIM card like the M8 does. When a software update comes out, try using their SIM card in your phone to take the update. That's the easiest way I can think of.

You may still be able to check it while on Wi-Fi. What does it say if you go into settings and do a software update check?

I'm pretty sure you'll have to s-off and then root your phone to push the firmware update.
the Red Viper ROM
So given that my phone is in the same situation as the original poster, all I have to do is to s-off and root my phone to push the update?
How would the update be done if it's rooted? I just want to update the firmware, I have no intention of adding a custom rom or anything, just whatever sense version is the latest on verizon now

Yes, you should be able to install just the firmware/radios. There is a thread in the android development section specifically for the installation of the firmware/radios. You will definitely need s-off to install them. There is also a thread on that - it's actually really easy. I had my brand new m8 s-off'd and rooted in about 20 minutes.

Help! Identifying My E8 Model

Hi E8 users! I hope you can help me identify my model and how to fix it. But I don't know how to troubleshoot since im knew to android (came from ios). The problem is I know that there are some missing like blinkfeed in my os. Tried to reset/restore but still missing. I foundout also that i cant go to fastboot menu (power + volume down). Also no fastboot setting in setting>battery. See my version in attached screenshot.

Dude use this RUU to restore to stock if that's what you want. You seem to be on a custom build at the moment. From what your screenshot tells us you have M8sw on a custom build ROM. Did you flash it with anything?

Im glad someone replied. I will download and follow your advice. I bought the phone 2nd hand and i don't know the history. Can i flash ruu even my boatloader is locked? By the way when i tried to go to recovery (power + volume up) i got the recovery with a android lying down with a text "no command". Is that ok?
Sent from my HTC M8Sw using XDA Free mobile app
As long as you bought this phone in China and know it to be a China dual GSM SIM, the RUU should work for you and you should be good. But remember that if you had it unlocked by anyone or anything, that will go away.
This is my first HTC device and I haven't flashed RUU since HTC Desire, so you will need to Google around a little.
Just a lil weird, as per my research M8sw model should be dual sim but mine is single sim. Btw, i attach the photo of my recovery

No. I bkught it 2nd hand and i dont know the history. (My stupidness) i think i bought a fake one :banghead:

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Because no custom basebands are out for E8 yet.
Wow.. You really get fake phones there? Can you share pictures?

[Q] HTC Desire 620G Dual

For easy method, just download iRoot and root your HTC Desire 620G. After that, using Root Explorer to delete the superuser.apk in system/app (because it's using Chinese language), then open Playstore and install SuperSU of Chainfire. Reboot your phone. Done!.
For complex method, you should use MTKDroidTool (this tool is perfect for Mediatek devices). You can backup your stock firmware, install CWM Recovery and root your phone. Because HTC 620G Dual doesn't come with Qualcomm chipset so rooting this device is not required unlocking bootloader.
Root checker confirmed that HTC Desire 620G Dual Sim is rooted.

That was my next question so iroot or kingroot or something would work after unlocking bootloader , wonder if it's worth it with no way back if something goes wrong , no custom recovery or stock firmware.
Make a backup of your stock firmware using MTK Droid tools and SP Flash tool and then you can proceed without risk.
CWM recovery can be made for this phone using the above same tools !

Is it posible to build true HTC Sense rom for this phone( because we dont have some sense things like sense recents)? Sorry for asking on this thread, but this is not popular phone and it doesnt have much community around it.
Yes, this phone is definitely dead. After just four months. Wasted money. It has no Sense, there will be no updates, and no developer support whatsoever. Don't buy this phone!!!

1) Is this confirmed? Any source?
Planning to get an HTC 620 G (The dual sim variant with Mediatek 6592 octa core proccy)
