[Q] Nexus 5 Bad Battery Life

Hey all,
so I recently upgraded from a N4 to the N5. After two charge cycles, the N5 seems to be performing far worse than my N4 (both stock unrooted). With my N4, I could usually get 14 hours with 3 hours SOT (all on wifi). With the N5, I can't get more than 12 hours with 2 hours SOT (all on wifi). Currently I'm at 10 hours with 1.5 hours SOT and I have 24% left.
I also took a look at what people reported in the Battery Life Results thread and I saw several people (stock unrooted) getting 16-20 hours with at least 4 hours SOT. This is nothing close to what I've been getting.
Do you guys think it's possible that I got a dud? I tried reflashing it with the stock image and the first cycle since has been about the same. Not sure if I should wait a couple more cycles to see if it will improve or try to get an RMA for it.
Thanks for the help guys!

The SOT I'm using it for is just web browsing, fb, and texting. No games or anything that intensive. Also gnow and auto brightness are on.

ditch location stuff, GNow, and find a stable brightness. Disable stuff you don't need as well (may or may not help..i'm noob)

web browsing could actually be CPU/GPU intensive (depending on how many tabs you open, how fast you scroll {remember, GPU/CPU works harder if you try to scroll up/down very fast}, how fast you move from webpage to webpage})
definitely turn off auto brightness. also ,install the nexus5 version of the Better Battery Stats to see if any wakelocks prevent your phone from sleeping. From mine (and other people's experience), the nexus5 sips very little battery when idle (even with email sync on through 3G/LTE data)
If I do web browsing, Battery Monitor Widget says my battery drain is around 15-30% per hour (because CPU scales up in response to my frequent open-new-link/new-tab), so I'll get ~3-5 hours screen-on
If I do only video watching, BMW says my drain is closer to 10-15% per hour, so it'll last ~7 hours screen-on
with very good idle-battery-usage (0.5%-2% per hour), I can probably hit 3 hours screen on + 24 hours easily (25% * 3 hours + 1% * 24hours = 75% + 24% = 100%)

Remember this phone has kit Kat and your nexus 4 probably has 4.3. This version of android seems a bit more aggressive on the location services.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
So it sounds like other people are getting similar battery life? I'm just confused because it seems to be doing worse than my N4. Did people notice significant better battery life after the first 3-4 charge cycles?
Thanks for the help everyone!

Kit Kat killed my battery

anyone else having terrible battery life since the 4.4.2 update?
I can't believe how fast my battery drains now with average use. I used to get through the day and would usually be at about 70% left when I plug in at midnight. It's 4pm now and I'm already at 52%.
I've really noticed over the last 4 or 5 days after doing the OTA update on the 22nd.
I am connected to wifi all day, bluetooth is on, gps off. reallly only used for a few short phone calls, some texting and bluetooth streaming on my commute. This is the same usage and settings as was before the update with excellent battery life.
Looked around but couldn't see anything about this... am I alone here.
thanks!
I'm also noticing what I think is bad battery life. But I just got the phone and updated to KitKat before I even played around so I have nothing to compare to.
But I'm getting close to what appears to 12 hours on moderate use. This is my first full day with the phone so I'll know more in a couple days.

Has anybody found a solution for this battery drain? Im at 59% with 2hrs sot . My nexus 4 battery is better than this.

So far my average is around 2.5 hrs screen time at the 50% mark.
Today it was at 3 hrs screen time at 50% (14 hours total). This is my first day being rooted also. I've only had the phone for 8 days now however, not sure if it's normal or not. Coming from my gs4 it's a ton better!

This is my second g2 the first one was on 4.2.2 and i remember that gave me almost 8 hrs sot on same settings

Yup same here. I fixed my deep sleep issue with root, and greenify virtually everything, but screen on kills my battery pretty fast. Getting about what you guys are as well.

Apparently there is a new update that is available to international users that fixed the issues reported. Bluetooth always running, knock code, and decreased battery

[Q] Change the battery ? How to know ?

Hello there community. After owning the Nexus 5 for about 1 year and 3 months. My battery life has gone really bad in the last few weeks. I have tried calibrating it through sucking out the whole juice and bring it up to 100 % and such tricks, but the battery is still the same, draining a little faster than before. Im even underclocked and undervolted with Codeblue trying to save some juice, but is still is in a bad situation. So the question is, is it time to send it to service and change the internal battery ? Or most people are suffering after Lollipop ? etc... Any reply would be appreciated

My battery life is better on Lollipop. Some people say it's worse so...
Have you posted in the battery life sticky?

My s6 battery is not good anymore

Not sure what is making it drain so fast. Lately, I get about 2 hours sot. When I got this replacement for my lost s6 a few months ago, I got 4 hours sot. Not sure what app I got since then that may have changed things. Ive attached an image from gsam. Battery stats in settings also. Do things like twitter in gsam at 0.4% really matter? Seems like such a small % wouldn't matter.

Bad battery life

Hello Guys,
my 1+7pro seems to have a really bad sot.
I get barely 5 hours with [email protected] and 90% only WiFi.
It's rooted with Smurf kernel+XXX not limits ROM for Magisk.
All of them are updated to the newest versions - no app seems to walk in the background draining battery.
AccuBattery measures the battery health is about 3400mah left after just 5 months now.
I never charged it over 100% , never used Quick Charge and never let it discharge beyond 20%.
Any suggestions ? Maybe a defective battery?
In the other forum sections they get 6-7+ sot that's why I'm so curious...
Best regards
Have you been flashing the phone recently...when was the last time you left the phone as is...everytime you flash/ clean cache etc..the phone will need a few days to settle down...If all's settle down and you are still getting bad battery...get it to a service centre and see if they can fix it..
