Any idea why my Verizon S6 has said "sync error" for over a week for my Google account? It says "sync is currently experiencing problems".
My Calendar app is empty. Pretty sure it's the Google Calendar app. There are two apps named Calendar on the phone. I think the other is Samsung's, which I can't uninstall.
When I go into Calendar settings and tap "events from Gmail", it just spins.
Having no calendar is very bad. I would really appreciate any info.

Hi all. I just migrated from my "old" HTC fuze and got on board the Android train with a Samsung Vibrant. It's fantasic out of the box, but I'm sure after a few more minutes on the forum I'll find something that needs fixing.
One thing that does need fixing is that when it syncs the contacts, it adds anybody I've emailed or responded to, outside of my contact list.
GMail doesn't add these people as contacts, but the droid does. Any fix for this short of going through my contacts every couple days and purging???
I hope this works for you, this is with my Droid Contacts.
Open Contacts -> Settings/More/Options button -> Display Options
There should be a "Choose contacts to display". Select your GMAIL account. Mine is currently set to "My Contacts" and everything else is unchecked. Also check the others listed. Gmail will store random outgoing/incoming emails, as All Contacts, where your contacts are "My Contacts"
Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately, all my contacts are google contacts, and nothing on the phone.
Is there any way to get gmail to not store all the various random emails and people I have contact with? I've dug through the settings and even tried to find something in the labs tab that might stop storage of ALL contacts, but couldn't find anything.

Double check my attacked image, else only other thing i can think of is to remove and readd your google account to your phone.
Ahhh, there's the problem. When I chose Contacts > Display Options, I get a checkbox for my google accounts - there is no drill down for which accounts I can select. I'm on the Samsung Galaxy.
BTW, what screen cap app are you using?
Ok if you can't stop the phone from, getting them then you need to delete them in gmail.
Cause gmail does save everyone you have every replied, or sent email to. It's under other contacts.
just go in there and delete all the ones you don't wont
I have "Sync all contacts" selected in the Facebook app as well as the "Sync Facebook" box checked in the Go Contacts EX settings menu. I cannot figure out why they will not show up in my contacts list on Go Contacts EX but they will in my stock contacts list. Anyone out there experienced or experiencing this? I have done all the research I possibly can on this, no one seems to have this exact problem except for a couple people that did not get answers on their posts (on some other websites). Please help!!
So i just updated my Xoom from EoS ICS to Eos3 JB and installed the 0812 version of the gapps... Everything is running extremely fast. The only issue I have is I dont show any support for syncing google calendars. There is no option for calendar in the acounts->google->userid tab. There's browser, gmail, currents, contacts and others, but no calendar..
Ive searched the forums and some posts talk about running a gapps fixer, but thats not related to EoS3. I also found another post that stated that google was no longer adding calendar functionality to its actvuesync. Not certain if this is the reason or not.
Any suggestions or feedback is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
jwb
Chech if you are Synched.
OK to see if the calender is syncing to your account, open the calender app and press the 3squares in the top right hand corner. A menu should pop up select settings and then select your username on the left. You should now see what your calender is syncing. Hope this helped.
Hi,
in the settings of my Galaxy S7 device exists the following option:
Settings - Accounts - Facebook - Sync with your device
When I activate this option, I am asked to grant the app "Samsung Galaxy" access to my contacts. Dispite having a bad feeling about it, I was curious and granted the permission. What I am interested in now is: What exactly got synchronized? I can't finy any new data on my phone nor in my facebook account. My facebook contacts are not on my phone and I can not find anything from my phone on facebook. So what's the utility of this? (besides providing Samsung/Facebook with a bunch of personal data..)
Somebody? Anybody?
You should at least see the upcoming Facebook events in your calenda/SPlanner. Might have to activate the calendars in the settings of the calendar app though
I was having problems with the stock calendar app not picking up my reminders from my Google Calendar. Instead, I just installed the regular Google Calendar app however for some reason I am not getting any notifications for reminders. The reminders are definitely in the calendar, and I am notified on my other devices, however it does not seem to work on my Honor 8. Is there a setting I need to tweak to allow this?
Thanks.
Hi,
Do you have any issues with any other apps not showing notifications?
Cheers

Everyting else seems to work fine.
Is there any solution? I have exactly the same problem.
Make sure you allow calendar app full access in settings. I don't use a Google calendar app on this device. But reminders in my Google account and pushed through as well as my regular Calendar app.
This was on Android 6 and now Android 7..
Side note I also have Google Calendar sync up in Google account settings.. Check your setting to see if there similar to my ones..
