Has anyone been able to get the samsung allshare app to work on nexus?
I've found a couple of links to the dlna.apk but it fails to install
Tried pushing with adb to /system/app - file is there but I don't see it in launcher - not really sure if it should show up automatically
Seems like it would be a good app to have since there doesn't seem to be any other dlna capable clients ....

Andromote (audio only though)
i have both the apk and the odex file for allshare, but it still does not install on Nexus. Agree this is great ap. Was blown away by how easy it was to play camcorder vids from wife's Vibrant on our TV.
This was featured on the BBC 'Click' program this afternoon. Looked great being able to play a vid from your phone straight to your samsung TV wirelessly.
So I thought i'd resurrect this thread to see if any amazing dev could look into getting on the Nexus One
Bump
I'd really like to see the official Allshare app from Samsung working on HTC phones. I currently use a DLNA server (iMediaShare) on my Nexus One to stream movies/pics on my Samsung TV, but it would just be awesome to have the official app.
While there are a lot of DLNA-capable clients like Skifta, Twonky, iMediaShare, Netfront Life Connect, SoftMediaPlayer, BubbleUPnP and others, I like the interface on this one pretty well and I'd like to use it on my other devices. I'm hoping someone can determine what libraries need to be installed to make this install work.
It would be really great if y'all could make this work. I wish samsung would release this, that way i would have a great app and know its from them, maybe next time I would buy one of their phones
(re-posting this in relevant board, sorry for duplicate)
Hi Guys,
I gather not many people actually use Google Music in the UK due to the required work arounds to get it but I am quite interested in using it.
For those who do/have used it:
Do you like it?
Is it worth the work around hassle to gain access?
Will getting it now via the workaround cause problems when it's actually released?
What worthy alternative services are there that aren't iTunes/iCloud/Match?
I want a music service in which I can own my music as well as purchase music, add my existing music to the service, and sync between devices.
I feel like there's nothing that does that apart from iTunes Match and Google Music
I love it, its my everyday music player... I no longer keep music files on my phone because I stream it from the cloud.
Likewise. I have been using it for a few months and it is absolutely life-changing. I just uploaded my entire music collection and now just stream it all instead of having it stored on my phone or memory card.
But how do you guys upload it in countries other than US?

If you need the APK to get the app on your phone, how do you get updates?
Do you have to use a proxy only to sign up or do you need it for desktop streaming?
Can your purchase music in the app?
Once you register via proxy you can use it anywhere, Play store for music doesn't work but who cares.
You only need the proxy for initial registration. For everything else, no proxy required. So in reality, its very little effort for lots of awsomeness
Is there any way to watch Hulu videos from the One X?
Not Hulu Plus, I don't have that subscription service. Already pay for Netflix.
I just want to go to the website and watch random TV shows from time to time.

That's a double no.
One, because Hulu only supports watching videos on mobile devices via Hulu Plus.
And TWO, because Hulu hasn't added support for the HOX yet, even via the official app. But even when they do, it will be Hulu Plus only.
I suppose if you found a browser that supported flash AND ID spoofing (Ie the browser could tell the site it was a desktop version or something) you might be able to pull it off. Worth a shot.
Currently no hack for the Hulu app and our device. But this works to watch on videos on the website:

Nexus Player APK Collection Thread
As requested by many users, here is a thread with a collection of APKs sourced from the Nexus Player. Many of these APKs are sourced so users outside of the US can download them.
All of the APKs are hosted on MEGA and mirrored on FileDropper. PM if a link goes down. If you have anything to contribute please do.
I will try to keep these apps updated regularly - let me know if an app need updating.
(Let me know if you want any other apps added to this list as well.)
Information
As sideloaded apps are not updated by the Nexus Player, it is desirable to install directly from the Play Store. (Visit this thread for any apps that are missing from this list.)

Hmm, so when you install the Netflix APK it seems it won't be manually updated. I think I have the same version linked in the OP, 1.0.1 build 110.
I will contact APKMirror and ask if they can also mirror the leanback version of Netflix.
Edit: Actually when I went into Play Store > Entertainment Apps I could see Netflix there. Entered and pressed update. Got 1.0.2 build 121.
I extracted the following from my NP today:
Netflix v1.0.2 b121
Mega
Vevo 2.1.5
Mega
Pandora 2.0.7

Thank you.
Thank You, very much for your time I am sure this will help a lot of people (including me).

Absolutely, Thanks for your continued support I will be certainly installing the Netflix app on my Nexus Player tonight. Regards - Haxxa
I see you got the HBO Go app from fire tv, anyway you could get the fire TVs pbs video app? There is two apps out there I think one for kindles and one for fire TV and I'd love to have the fire TVs one as its much more TV friendly obviously and we don't have one on the play store, we have pbs kids but not pbs itself.
Are there any updates to the Hulu Plus app?
thanks for keepings these apks updated @Haxxa and @EcPercy, i really appreciate it. i haven't been able to get the market helper app to allow me to install netflix from the play store so you guys really saved the day.
Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone knows of a VPN app that will work with these leanback versions of apps?
I'm located in Canada and would like to access US Netflix. Running either of the 2 VPN apps I have will work fine on the regular-non-leanback version of Netflix, but not on the leanback version posted in this thread. Any ideas? I'm running Lollirock 2.0 on the Nexus Player.
Thanks!

Not sure about VPN mate, so sorry there, but a VPN adds a lot of overhead to your connection by routing all traffic through and would never be as fast as a DNS which is way way easier to setup. Have you considered this option? If you are set on using a VPN it would be hard to find a specific app to Leanback Netflix you would probably have to find one that enables app based routing and as far as I know there aren't any decent ones from the top of my head...

Hey thanks for the reply.
I'm not set on using anything and since VPN don't work, I'm willing to try anything.
Can you give me more information on setting up DNS?

Ok so Firstly I might just explain whats the difference between a VPN and a DNS. There are many disadvantages for people who choose to use A VPN Service when streaming, downloading or accessing blocked/region-restricted content however, the main disadvantage of using a VPN Service is VPN’s are slower than a DNS Proxy.
Because when you connect to a website via a VPN, all of your network traffic is being sent and re-routed through the VPN. This basically slows down ALL of your Internet traffic which results in a very slow and poor quality stream (or download) from the intended website in this case Netflix. Rather with a DNS only some traffic is directed to the US and thus its very fast. - This is explanation overlooks many technical aspects but it gives you a general idea never use a VPN to stream content is reduces speed significantly.
Now changing the DNS is dead simple, its under the settings menu of the Nexus Player, follow this guide to change the DNS - http://ausdroid.net/howto/setup-nexus-player-custom-dns-side-load-apps/
But first you will need a DNS Service they generally cost about $3 a month (CAD) and are available online, I use Getflix which is Australian and has Australian Servers and Australian Billing so you are probably going to want to find a Canadian Option. A quick Google Search found Unotelly and UnblockUS.
So simply follow these Steps-
1. Buy DNS Service
2. Follow Steps in guide to enter DNS Service
3. Watch Netflix
- Dead Easy Right?
That's why DNS is preferred over VPN, easier, faster and cheaper
Let me know if you have any issues...

Note 1 - Use in Canada. You can use Hulu Plus outside of the USA by using an unblocking service such as Trickbyte or AdFreeTime or UnblockUS. You can also sign up with a Canadian credit card by using this billing address trick.
Note 2 - Ad Blocking Whitelist. Some ad blockers may stop hulu plus from working on rooted devices. Please see the post Using AdAway with Hulu Plus for information on what you need to whitelist to make it work.
Note 3 - An easy way to get a USA credit card as a Canadian is through RBC BANK, the US extension of the Royal Bank.
Using AdAway with Hulu Plus - Whitelist Guide
The problem seems to be some ad lists are blocking domains from the content delivery networks that Hulu uses. Specifically, the one that seems to be the problem is the "akamai" domain. Simply adding *akamai* to the whitelist seems to resolve this.
Below is a complete list of all domains that could cause issues with Hulu streaming. I have highlighted the ones in RED that I have tested and for sure cause issues with playing video on the Hulu android app.
Code:
[U]Hulu Domain:[/U]
[COLOR="Red"]*hulu.com[/COLOR]
*huluad.com
*huluim.com
[U]CDN Providers:[/U]
[COLOR="red"]*akamai*[/COLOR]
*darwin*
*edgecast*
*level3*
*limelight*
[U]Ad Providers:[/U]
*adtology.com
*adtology?.com
*lightningcast.com
*lightningcast.net
I listed all the extra domains in case there are issues in the future. Easiest to whitelist them all now and not worry about it!
Attached an whitelist file you can import into AdAway. Also attached a screenshot in case you are having issues.
Hope that helps.
I always get the "error parsing the package" when I install this on my minix neo x5... help! My device is still on jellybean. Should I update to Kitkat for this to work?

The MiniX Neo series is just an Android box, not Android TV. You will have to use the standard APK.
Can this be used on the FireTV?

Yes, you should be able to sideload these APK's on a FireTV. AFAIK the FireTV is an Android TV box that just has the play store removed in favor of the Amazon store.
Thanks!
