Hi,
I'm almost perfectly certain, that I will by one of the Sony Android TVs, which were introduced at the beginning of this year. At the moment the KD-55X8505C (XBR-55X850C in U.S.) is the most interesting device for me. But my interest also depends on the fact, if the TVs will be rootable. Does someone have an idea, how likely this will be?
Thx!
I have just bought the same TV and am wondering the same. Any news?

Does anyone more familiar with DLNA requirements know if this will be exclusive to the LG phones for hardware reasons or will this same app be able to work on phones from, say, HTC? This sounds like it could potentially be a great feature with my Onkyo DLNA AVR. Could be a deciding factor for me in which phone I ultimately decide on.
As i understand it LG developed it together with Microsoft and is only available on LG phones. If it will show up on other phones later i don't know but we can sure hope so. Right now i would buy the LG just because of that feature.

I think so, unless another phone has the DLNA hardware. LG is great! If you have a LG tv, stereo, surround system you can control them all with any LG remote. Im willing to bet that if you have a LG tv you won't have to set up your phone or tv to use the app.
Oh so it is a hardware issue? I thought hopefully, just maybe, it would just be software... damn, I really like the surround. Wish it had dlna
There's no such thing as DLNA hardware.
Awesome, that's what I was hoping. So all that is needed is wi-fi. Theoretically, this should be able to be ported from the LG to any wp7 device, correct? If that's the consensus, it will make my decision much easier.
It may/will be ported when/if WP7 is jailbroken. Apart from that, DLNA isn't something that belongs to LG and can't be done by someone else. When Microsoft provides access to socket APIs there may be third party solutions.
Dlna is using wifi it has nothing to do with any kind of hardware , and it havebeen ported to hd2 with Dhd android port
So I can connect my phone to my tv wireless now?
Damn thanks for the info! I thought I needed one of those players.

Your TV must support DLNA.
I knew DLNA wasn't proprietary to LG (my Onkyo receiver, Samsung blu-ray, and wmp11 all have it), I just don't really know how the internal phone stuff works like drivers and stuff so I wasn't sure if it would ever work even after the imminent jailbreak. HTC Surround, here I come! Thanks for selling me on it guys!
but if you have windows 7 that could be a stand in
Any way to side-load "play to" to a Samsung Focus yet?
I have to check it out at some point. I have LG.
I can sideload Play To to my Focus, but when I start the application, it's always said that I need the update my OS to the latest version (and I''m on 7392 at that time).
I can search for DLNA device, but since I don't have any DLNA device, I don't know if it's worked or not. Can I use my Windows 7 laptop ??
So Sony Ericsson's Liveview is not a brand new gadget and it has some really mixed reviews!
As usual I cannot find any information as to if the product works well with LG optimus One?
For me the Liveview would be incredibly useful particularly for notifications.
Does anybody have any experiences? Bear in mind that the latest news on the Liveview says the last firmware upgrade has fixed a load of it's glitches.

I bought it months ago, used a few times and now it's in the drawer
I think that sony liveview app is the main problem , because it keep on disconnect the device for unknown reasons; i should try it with a different phone and compare.

I don't think it is available for our devices. In Japan/Korea TV antenna is standart. If you look into a white paper on sony developer page, you'll se that 2206 and 2243 have almost exactly same bands, but 2243 has DTV in addition. What would be the purpose of making two equal devices?
I´ve figured out

Hi @Vynikal, I´ve figured out the DTV issue after some research. The main reason is because in Japan, Brazil and other south american countries (except Colombia) they have ISDB-T Digital TV Standard. But, I live in Colombia, and we adopt here Digital TV under the DVB-T2 and DVB-T standards, and there´s no way to make function the DTV in D2206 model even if i buy the antenna.
Also, i´ve extracted the TV Digital apk from D2243 stock, it installs but nothing happens. It´s just a different standards compatibility.

Hi XDA Members,
I am getting desperate! I have lost all faith in myself to choose a good Android device.
Although poor, I have managed to purchase many Android devices to try and suit my needs.
For example:
I got a Galaxy S3, only to find the signal and battery were crap, and I couldn't use the Tincore or sixaxis app to use any controller to play any games properly.
I bought a Doogee Valencia Y100 Pro thinking it was a great deal, only to later learn that it couldn't be rooted, and the unofficial remote play app for the PS4 lagged far worse than the Galaxy S3.
I bought an unbranded Quad Core, 1.5GB Ram tablet, and guess what, it performed FAR worse than my Sony Xperia E1 ever did, and the E1 is crap!
These are just a few of the examples. As you saw, all of these are budget devices.
Guys, I give up, I take off my cap, I'm not even going to try anymore. I am so disappointed with all this and myself, that I will never, again in life, brag, about, my technical knowledge. Ever.
I need your help. Can you please tell me what are the best budget to high price android devices I should get, it can be anything, a tablet, smartphone, smart console, that can also do the following:
Use Tincore Keymapper or the PS sixaxis app well.
Be able to properly use either a PS3/4 or android bluetooth controller.
Root.
Have atleast a 64GB capable micro sd card slot.
4G signal would be nice, but NOT necessary. Phone calls are not even necessary.
Remote play with PS4 either officially, or smoothly through the unofficial apk.
Run PPSSPP, N.O.V.A 3, Modern Combat 5, and Dead Trigger 2 well.
Have USB OTG.
Not necessary, but HDMI or MHL would be nice.
And have atleast 8GB of internal storage (more is preferable).
Please list the devices you think would best fit this fussy description. Also, please list expensive devices if you think they're the best, but I'm not rich, so cheaper ones would be good too.
Also, would a JXD S7800B or GPD Q9, or Archos Gamepad 2 be any good, or are they crap too?
Lastlty, I would be extremely glad if someone had such a device that did all this, and could personaly testify. Opinions woulf be greatly appreciated too, but, I'm just saying.
I shall eagerly wait your replies, and as I'm sure you pros will help me out, thanks in advance.
Hi!
We have a dedicated thread for such questions, though you may want to streamline your question a little... But that's up to you...

And good luck!
Hi,
i am quite new to Android and rooting with years of experience in the Windows Mobile world, but since I bought an Android TV (Sony Bravia) I got interested. To my big suprise, nowhere on these forums is any central topic for Android TV devices (except for the discontinued Nexus Player). The thing that suprised me the most is that there are absolutely no custom firmwares to be found here.
Is there any particular reason for it? With my limited knowledge, it would not be too difficult for Cyanogen for example, to create a dedicated Android TV release? Since almost alle TV's of the brands selling Android TV's (Sony, Philips, B&O) use the same GPU (Mali T624) and processor (MediaTek MT5890), a lot of tv models would be able to get the update at once. Or am I wrong and this thing is much more complicated?
