Im on TWRP recovery, and in the recovery menu i accidentally wiped internal sd, and now when i flash a new Rom, after it installs an i get through the typical new phone start up process, i get a message that says, Unfortunatley system ui has stopped, and another one that says htc dot view has stopped. And then when i get to my home screen i have no Status bar or navigation bar (soft keys) and my homescreen is just a black background. I can still access my apps but cant go back because there is no soft keys. I went into my settings, to my apps, and when i went to system ui to try clearing the cache its greyed out and saying "computting" forever. What do i do? I have a htc one m8 T mobile US with unlocked bootloader and S-On. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks

Hello, and welcome to XDA! I assume you've tried more than one rom? It could be a problem with the rom... If not, I would consider reflashing stock firmware to put the phone back to normal, and only then flash a new rom. For help flashing firmware you could look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376. Also, if you register, you can post to ask for further help in that thread or in the help forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help.
Good luck!

Thanks for the response and the links. I tried looking on there and all i see is downloads for backups and firmwares. Is there a direct link you can give me to a tutorial to flash a stock firmware?

Hey guys, this is going to be my first post up here, usually just read up and find what I need no problem but today my first problem arose with my G1. I'll wrap it up quickly:
-Just got a new G1 through an insurance claim.
-Rooted no problem running SuperD v1.9.2
-Curiosity got the best of me and I attempted to try out CaNNoN Complete Eclair
-Didn't work correctly so I restored back to my most recent backup of SuperD v1.9.2
Once I restored, I found that all I had were the apps the SuperD includes built-in to his rom. Not one downloaded app was found on my phone. When I check in the market it still says all of them are installed, wont let me open them at all though. So of course I try to fix it myself and now my SD card just says Lost.Dir on it. Also now it goes through the T-Mobile G1 screen, begins the Super D boot image, and then goes black. I still have access to recovery, what happens now?
Mini update: Partitioned my SD again and now I get past the boot image, still no apps and I can't even reinstall them! Any help would be appreciated.

both of you wipe data, dalvik, and sd: ext partition. repair ext partitions and reflash. you're not bricked if you can get past the t-mobile g1 screen or can get into recovery or bootloader.
Thank you r3s-rt, for giving me hope but honestly, i didn't understood what I need to do.
Thank you
I'm unrooted now and i can't pass the android logo, I can't get access to the operating system. How can I do the partitions, repair and reflash?
you can try to start over and get it to 1.6 again by following this sites guide
upgrade.android.32teeth.org
already done that, but with 2 updates. No success

Buddy you need to first get a plain ( original ) 1.6 Rom as an update.zip on your sdcard boot into recovery , do a wipe THEN apply the update THEN reboot and wait , it will take a while to boot. DO NOT WIPE AFTER THE UPDATE is applied , you must let it *first boot* so it can rewrite the missing files..
where can I get that file? i've tried some but says no signature
I've already done that, nothing happens, the problem is still the same, I will try to flash HardSPL and see what happens
i was reading the topic of SPL and my phone is now unrooted, i can't do anything, i don't know what to do with my phone!
If you are un_rooted then you need to find a original un_rooted Rom , that was not signed with the test keys , ,if you are rooted you need to find a rooted Rom signed with the test keys , if you try to modify any of these roms before flashing them YOU NEED TO RE_SIGN THEM with the right keys , or you will get that no signature error ..
do you know where can I get that? Sorry about all the questions. Thank you
Everything that you need is in the link at the bottom of dan0zone's post right above you (#15). That is a walkthrough specifically geared toward G1's. The original image file for 1.5 is one of the first links he includes. He's even got the links for RC29 (US) as well as RC7 (UK)!
Remember! First boot takes FOREVER!!!! Let it sit for at least 5-10 minutes before doing anything.
Good luck!
I've already done that but nothing happens...what happens if I try to flash UK rom in USA phone? I don't know what should I try more.
is there any cupcake update or any way to don't need to slide the keyboard when ask for sign in or create a new google account? I can now access to the Operating system in Safe mode when I got almost bateryless but when i need to slide the keyboard to sign in my google account, the phone shutdown again. Any sugestion? sorry, man. i have a tendency to just disappear and forget where i posted. are you using cyanogens or amon_ras recovery? i suggest amon_ra's. select the "wipe" option. then choose the first three options that appear. then flash super d 1.9.2.
or just follow the rooting process all over again. if you can't get into recovery.
(recovery is accessed by holding the home key while powering the phone on.) if you need anything else, please pm me. i'll always respond to a pm, but very rarely to a post. sorry.
This thread is an attempt to help out the Tiamat Developers by answering the frequently asked questions in one consolidated thread. This thread should also be helpful to those who either cannot use the search feature or are having a hard time figuring out the correct search terms to find what they are looking for. If you have suggestions or added questions/answers feel free to reply and I will update the OP.
NOTE: I am not a developer. All of the information in this thread is from other members who have helped me out or information I found in the XDA forums. I do not take credit for any of the great work that has been done on this ROM and I will point back to the original answer when possible. I am only trying to help lessen the burden on the developers so they can spend more time getting us the best features. Hopefully you find this helpful as well.
I've flashed this ROM and now I get update notifications. Should I accept the update? How do I stop these notifications?
No, you should never accept an OTA upgrade when using any custom ROM/Kernel. This could result in severe problems. Your best bet is to be patient and give the developers time to react. If the update is worthwhile I am sure they will roll it out pretty quickly.
To get rid of the notifications flash Mod pack 3 as noted here.
OK I made the mistake of accepting the OTA update and now my Xoom won't boot. What can I do?
okantomi said:
Can you make it reboot by pressing volume up and power at the same time and holding? If it reboots, wait about 3 seconds once you see the dual core logo and then tap volume down you shoud see android recovery, then tap up to choose it. I hope you did a nandroid backup. If not, you can try and get fastboot by tapping volume down sooner after it reboots.

From this thread.
With this ROM certain websites don't load correctly or I can't get to the mobile version of a site.
This ROM by default sets the User Agent String to "desktop". If you want to revert to the stock settings flash either Mod pack 1 or 2 depending which version of Moray you are running. Look here.
I flashed this ROM and now when I click links in email or my file explorer the screen just dims and nothing happens.
This is a bug in Android 3.2 and not specific to this ROM. To solve this, simply ensure auto-rotate is enabled and rotate the device from landscape to portrait and back to landscape. The app chooser window should appear allowing you to choose which app to open the selected file.
I just flashed this ROM and the speed is amazing, so I OC'd it to 1.7GHz cuz I want more and I am now stuck in a boot loop. This worked for others why not me?
The Xoom was only specified to run at 1.0 GHz, anything beyond that is a gift. Due to part-to-part variation not everyone's Xoom will be stable at the same speed. Yes some people are able to run at 1.7 GHz, but many cannot. For your specific Xoom try out the various speeds, but do NOT click "Set on Boot". This way if it crashes it will revert back to stock speed and you will be able to boot. Once you are satisfied with a speed then feel free to enable "Set on Boot". Before you do so I would suggest making a nandroid backup so you can restore just in case.
How do you get out of this boot-loop? The only way I know of is to boot into recovery and restore a nandroid backup if you have one or perform a full wipe if you do not.
I updated to the latest CWM and I cannot find the zip card or I get "get error: E:failed to mount /sdcard (No such file or directory)."
Latest is not always the best, for the Xoom you need to either use ClockworkMod 3.2.0.0 (R4C) or CMW Rogue Recovery v1.1.1
After flashing this ROM the Motorola icon gets distorted during boot up, is that a problem?
Basically it is not a problem. This kernel has a patch provided by NVidia which causes the distortion during boot. It does not cause any problems after it boots.
Is there a way to get the stock WiFi and Battery icons?
Yes
How do I boot into recovery without ADB or my PC attached?
There are a couple methods.
1) The latest Tiamat ROM includes this if you press and hold the power button. Just pick what you want and hit OK.
2) Download and install "Quick Boot" from the market. It gives you the above options as well as others when you run the app.
3) Turn the Xoom on, wait ~2 seconds after your see the Dual Core logo, then press the volume down key. In the upper left corner it should say "Android Recovery", then press the volume up key to select it.
How do I get started? Any good guides?
There are several guides that are pretty good. The best one I have found and personally used is here.
The Xoom Heaven thread found here is also a good place to start for all sorts of information.
If you have another question please feel free to post to this thread. If you are having a problem or have a question it is likely that someone else along the lines will have the same problem or question. I will continue to update this OP with the list of F.A.Q.s.
Additional Q&As
After installing this ROM I am having issues with the market not finding all of my apps or apps are giving errors when trying to install them.
See this post for one possible solution.
One more for good measure...

darn you... I earned 1/2 my posts responding to the "why does my screen dim" question... now I'll have nothing to say!
i performed a factory reset from the os-> settings and once again performed a wipe/factory reset from the cwm recovery but still can't get back to the initial setup screen (where you enter your google a/c, etc)
any idea?

Why does Market show up in USD even though my locale is set to UK, my language is English British along with my keyboard layout?
Ive had boot loops twice. Both times i could get into recovery but could not get backup to restore . kept getting cant read /sdcard. also cant reinstall update .zip becuase the sd card wont mount. I have only gotten back in by letting it sit powered off for a bit.
any ideas?
should i adb a stock image and start again?
should i flash a different recovery?

What version of recovery is installed now? If you have the version that doesn't recognize your external sdcard you should certainly flash a compatible recovery version through fastboot.

Guess I should have read the thread before posting here, sorry for being a troll.
I tried this ROM on my 4G Xoom, but it left me without 4G or 3G (wifi only). Any way to get this working, or do I have to wait for an update?
I did try activating the network in settings, but it never connected even half an hour.
Thanks to steps mentioned by user 'LordDeath' in another thread and a bit of experimenting with a rooted 4G Xoom and a friends 3G Xoom running Moray, there seems to be a remedy for those who are having issues with the market compatibility issues as well as missing apps. I did not activate until attempting to sign in to the market and had missing apps and compatibility issues. I simply did a full wipe & reset and made sure the full activation went through in set up then let it automatically start restoring. I took a peek in the market after a a minute and all my apps were back with no compatibility issues. Here is a copy of his original post and mine but the last step was not needed for me.

Translated into English it means "Error while processing the purchase". It was a free app, btw.
To solve this issue I did the following:
1. Wipe data/factory reset
2. Active the device during the wizard on the first boot with my Google account
3. Restore the nandroid backup of the official 3.1 ROM
Therefore it seems that the market servers check your device-compatibility only during the activation process at the first startup.

"This fixed everything for my friend running Moray and even corrected the issues on my 4G Xoom..."
I should add that though this fixes the issue, if you change your pixel density you may run into similar issues but can correct it by setting it back to 160 before going into the market.

You're going to need to provide more detail if you expect any help:
1. What ROM? (for all we know that can be either CM9 or CM10/10.1)
2. What method did you use? You mentioned a method but provided no link.
If you think that you did all the steps correctly, sometimes you just need to wait it out. First boot does take a long time.
Or could be a simple thing like a corrupt download of the rom zip. As you still can go to your recovery, your phone's safe. You can redownload the rom (confirm the size after download) or try another rom. Next time, better to keep a nand backup of your working rom through your recovery, for emergencies like this.
Good luck. BTW which recovery r u using? And which rom were you trying?

Due to the rules of the board, I can't post this in the Developer section until I have 10 posts. I have searched and have been unable to find any information about it.
I have installed CMB 4.4.2 according to thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2577165
and had numerous problems, reinstalled several times. One that I haven't been able to figure out is the Widgets section is missing from the All Apps screen. Is it hiding somewhere else?

I had been using TWRP (since I was on Cromi-X) but replaced it with the Philz. Here are the files I used from the download page associated with the thread.
philz_tf700t_recovery_v6.12.8.zip
cmb_tf700t-ota-20140130.zip
cm-4.4-20140114-cmb4.4.2-tf700t.zip
cmb_kkgapps_20131209.zip
One thing I'm not clear on is the bootloader. I thought it was part of the Philz Recovery or any of the recoveries). Looking in the About Tablet.... I'm not seeing it.
Booting into FastBoot I see (in tiny writing!):
Android cardhu-user bootloader <1.00e> released by "US-epad-10.6.1.14.10-20130801" A03
So I guess the answer would be 10.6.1.14.10
I followed the instructions in post 82 (quoted below) though I don't know what TBupdate.zip was and didn't see it available for download so that step wasn't followed.

Another problem- I had made a Nandroid backup of my apps (Data) from TWRP on Cromi-X but when I tried to bring them back there was one small error (after setting the Backup-Advanced to TWRP mode, since it wouldn't find the backup set) but it would complete. I didn't write the error down. When rebooted, it would never finish booting so I gave that up and figured I would just have to re-download all the apps. That's when I found that the widget tab was missing.

I did the one mentioned as "factory reset do the one that says going to install new rom".
A long press on the home screen... Is that documented somewhere since I didn't expect it there. Yup, there they are, thanks!
On my Nexus 4 phone, 4.4.2, the widgets are as a tab where I have seen them in previous releases of the (standard) OS.
What is the OTA by the way?

Hey guys, I hope you are well. sorry if anything by cross posting. I have gone through previous threads but didn't really find the right solution.
My pal has an HTC One M7 and he gave it to me to help him restore to the Stock ROM. It was upgraded by someone whom has now disappeared on him. I am well averse with computers but not much with in depth android systems.
I have tried doing it, but the S-on function won't allow. It keeps giving this "System UI has failed" pop up. I can't even access the Notification bar to accept a transfer to it of a stock ROM. Installing apps like air-droid so to transfer data over a wireless access point isn't possible since it get's stuck at "installing" after downloading the app from PlayStore. How do it go about it?
