Two different topaz blue colors? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Before receiving my topaz blue S6, I saw a branded one in a shop, and I'm almost sure it was a different blue; in particular it was a darker blue, similar to the home button color.
I found some images around the net that explain better...
What color is yours?

Top one looks like mine - the black sapphire version..

The darker is the Black Sapphire, not Blue Topaz.

Questions belong in Q&A, not General.
Thank you.

[Q] for those that use the xda app

When you start the app, at the xda splach screen is the bronze / red colour the same across the whole screen or is it like a gradient getting lighter towards the top left?
Just wondering if my screen is duff but maybe I'll be better downloading a screen test app.

No, nothing wrong with your screen for that reason. Just loaded xda and it does change shades from top to bottom.
If you think there's issue with the screen, google search for a photographic color calibration image, that should give you a good image to check with.
Thanks. I thought that was the case as I haven't seen this problem in any other apps or when using the phone normally. Still a relief to hear though!
no clue, i have set mine to DARK theme to safe power.
but when i look at a BLANK WHITE page, the 2 bottom corners just above the 4 soft buttons have a weird purplish gradient, which did not exist in Galaxy S
but that is due the Concave screen design
Mines on dark also but I'm talking about the splash screen that shows on starting the app - whether light or dark theme selected.
No such purple tint here.
The xda splash screen gradient looks a little banded because of the pentile sub pixel layout of the amoled screen. Nothing really wrong with your screen, that's just the way it is with these screens. It's a trade off.
Don't think I'm seeing banding, it's just the fact the xda splash screen tends to lighten as it gets to the top left of the screen.
From what others have said this seems normal though so. I'm not concerned.
Ah got it, I mis read. Yeah I think that's normal.
This is slightly off topic but relevant to the xda app. When I first view a new thread using the app, it always jumps either to the last page or a random page. Or if the thread is only one page long, it starts halfway down the thread. Again this is for new threads I've never viewed before. Anyone else experiencing this or know how I can fix this?
Thanks!
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Yep seeing this too and never quite worked out the pattern / reason.
Don't worry about hijacking the thread, my question was answered long ago

on the Nexus S
i have a very nice and smooth dark brown to light brown gradient going from bottom right to top left
on the Galaxy S
the same gradient looks like chopped, chunky, banded, it's like looking at a picture in 16bit color (SGS) vs 32bit color (SNS)

That's interesting. I thought these used the same screen technology - samoled?

That's originally what I meant with my post cause I see the banding on my screen too. It should be identical since these screens are literally identical I believe.
that's what i would like to know as well.. i was left when i did the comparison

Settings Background: Black vs White

Edit:
Sorry. Never mind. I have looked for more videos. And it is not always true that black is for Black Mist and white is for White Frost
The result is mixed.
Maybe there is a setting somewhere. This is just so bizarre.
Once again, I am sorry about this false info. My apologies.
Mindblown.
Anyways, more reason to get the black version.
What?

That is weird so they have two different version of touchwiz based on the model? Can't possibly be so there must be a setting somewhere to set black or white. By default they might be setting white on the white models and black on the black ones.
I believe it was/is white on the GS4s that haven't received final production firmware. After the firmware update the settings menu will be black.

Screen color issues?

My cousin just got the Razr M, and I noticed that his colors looked much better, and more deep, and they are almost the same phone. Does anyone else see a difference? I notice in CM10 the colors don't look right either, they look lighter.
I have another issue with my screen, I don't know if it's a problem common to all photon Q screen: it seems that screen can't make some colors and mix some lines of a lighter color with some lines of darker color.. the result is orrible..
You can see the problem here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2386888
Do you also have similar problems or it's another problem?

S6 home button color?

Hi all, yesterday i have bought a brand new s6 gold platinum color (F version) for the wife however I've noticed that the color of the home button is darker than the device's color is this normal? when i search the images on the net the home button color seems identical to the rest of the device.
your help is much appreciated,
I have the same thing
Same on my pearl white.
Yes, normal. Ask samsung why
I think people can see colour differences, well differently.
I can see on mine that the material used for the button is obviously different to that of the phone, leading to a slight change of colour.
Totally as you would expect.

Should I get the Prism Blue or Prism Black version?

I thought I would like the white version but it is too pinkish. Reminds me of an Easter egg. So I'm going to sell this one and either get the blue or black version. I'd really love the green version but it has the exynos chipset and it flat out sucks. So if anyone has or has seen the blue and black versions please give me some opinions. Thanks.
I got the prism white and only exynos available in my region. I suggest you go and see some demo phones which one you really like. In my region, only black and white is availble and I would go for yellow for me.
I got the prism Black exynos. Just loving it.
Keep in mind Prism Black is actually a very dark shade of navy.
