Snapdragon 800
OIS camera
3000 mah battery
5.2" 1080p screen
32GB storage
Thin bezels
Flagship build quality
All for $175 brand new without contract from Best Buy, good sized development community, the device that made LG smartphone business profitable/respectable, now #1 budget Android phone of all time. The value is just completely off the charts compared to the so called low/mid-range devices today.
I just don't understand why would anyone consider newer budget phones like One Plus One, Asus Zenfone 2, Alcatel Idol 3, Huawei P8 Lite, Motorola G, Samsung Neo etc.
All the Snapdragon 400/600 devices with lower quality builds and even higher prices, why would you consider any of these? Get a G2 + cricket and be happy!
Probably because it's €350 everywhere else?
That's 389 USD, by the way.
As opposed to €249 (279USD) for the Oneplus One, for example.
Which has a Snapdragon 801, not a 400/600.

I kinda want some with better now and I've found four phones that I can possibly upgrade to:
1. Samsung Galaxy S (i9000)
The Super Amoled and Hummingbird are the selling points. Cheap feeling plasticky body though and no camera flash. 4" is a good size. About USD 650 / HKD 5000
2. HTC Desire HD
Massive beast with fast fast hardware. I believe this is the fastest phone released to date with the second gen snapdragon and 768 mb of ram. 8mp camera with flash. About USD 675 / HKD 5200
3. Dell Venue
Just released in Hong Kong - first country in the world to have it...guess where I live
1GHz Snapdragon, 512mb ram, 8MP with flash, plastic body with aluminum edges, 4.1" Very good price for the spec....I know judging a product by the brand isnt very good, but Dell isnt a phone brand...dunno if they are good. About USD 514 / HKD 3999
http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/23/dell-venue-launched-in-hong-kong-we-go-hands-on/
4. Google Nexus S
Not out yet in Hong Kong...
Similar to Galaxy but with a better -looking- body. Exact rom version doesnt really matter to me as long it has the ability to flash a new rom, and since the Galaxy has 2.3 builds and they will be usable by the time the Nexus is released, it isnt really a selling point.
On the plus side, you can get virtually ANY phone contract-less including all of the above and more and also the fourth version of the unmentionable device.
Out of those Nexus S but I would wait until new year and go for a dual core phone instead. That way you are ay least investing in some better technology.

Hi everyone,i am in the market for a new phone.
I have been following general reviews of Htc one and Samsung galaxy s4, but in the end i always liked the htc one for its build quality, expecially considering that i owned the Google htc nexus one, that recently broke down.
The problem with the Htc one is the cost. I personally think spending more than 400 euros on a phone is foolish, and both the Htc one and Samsung s4 cost 699 euro, just way too much.I would fear carrying it around, and dropping it, or even scratching in anyway.
and thus i am looking at the Oppo find 5 and its general build quality, great screen, quite powerful, rom support and everything.
And in the other hand, i am also looking at the Huawei Ascend P6 (pictured), which has:
Quadcore 1,5 Ghz
2 gb ram
720 x 1280 pixels (321 ppi)
8 mpx back camera which records 1920x1080 (1080p HD) + 5 mpx frontal
removeable microsd card, and supports microhdsc
Fast mobile data support (4G)
4.7 inches display, (120 g)
2000 mAh battery
for 399 euros.
Considering this, i would like some suggestions or advice on why is the Oppo find 5 better or worse than the other contenders, and what did you like the most about your Find 5, how do you use it.
Is there an android phone with spec similar to iphone 5S?
- 4" screen (or max 4.3")
- lightweight: 130grams or less
- Slim 8.5mm or less, not too big
- FAST user interface. Fast photos. Fast opening apps.
Thanks
The closest thing to that is moto g. And it costs only 1/3 of an iPhone.
the closest that you will get is the Motorola Moto G, which is considered a low-end device in contrast to the iPhone. So the price for the Moto G is much lower, but I assume you won't get the same great performance as on iOS.
There's also the HTC One Mini or the Galaxy S4 mini. Both feature a mid-range processor and over 1GB RAM. Because Samsung and HTC use their own customizations and User Interfaces I'd recommend using a custom ROM, like cyanogenmod. There is currently no official CM support for either devices, but I'm sure there are many ports available. These would offer a smoother user experience compared to the stock ROMs.
The best choice is to wait for the devices releasing early 2014. The Sony Xperia Z1S is said to arrive 2014 and this one beats all the "Mini"-Versions of other manufacturers, at least spec wise. It is said to offer a Snapdragon 800, 2GB RAM and an outstanding 20.7 megapixel camera. If price doesn't matter, what I assume when you're searching an iPhone-alternative, I'd wait for that one. I will probably consider it myself.

thanks error,
kind of disturbing how superior the iphone 5s is to the S4 mini...
http://versus.com/en/apple-iphone-5-vs-samsung-galaxy-s4-mini
How can there not be a superior android phone with the same compact form factor???
edit: the huawei ascend p6 is slimmer, but taller. higher resolution i think.

The mini versions have always been inferior to their flagship counterparts. Sony will release the Xperia Z1 mini next year though, same procesor and camera as its big brother but with a 4.3" screen.
Z1 mini has good specs,
But is bigger and bulkier
Not really a true competitor
Hey guys , any help would be appreciated.
I'm definitely thinking about buying the JIAYU s3 but I need some help.
1. Are jiayu phones reliable and trustworthy for daily use?
2.Are the cameras good and is the quality of the build good?
3.Are there any legit sites that sell Jiayu phones? Because I was looking at some websites with suggestions but there all not working anymore........
4. How do Jiayu phones live up to other great brands?
The Jiayu s3 that i'm talking about has a 5.5inch ips fhd screen with 2/3gb of ram, a 16gb rom -and the new mtk6752 64bit processor with mali t-760 and scores around 45000 on antutu at a price of 170 dollars.
It probably is my “next" phone, but because I don't own one I can't answer your number 1, and 2 questions. For third there is a web site www.ibuygou.com where I saw it was on stock. Now I have Xiaomi mi2a which is Chinese phone too and I'm completely satisfied. The only thing that bothers me is the processor, especially GPS. But when there are some reviews I would buy it. Price is very nice.
My friend has ever bought a Jiayu G6 smartphone from http://www.pompmall.com/jiayu-g6-mtk6592-octa-core-android-4-2-smartphone-2gb-32gb-5-7-inch.html moths sgo, and she said it is really in high quality especially with the 8MP front and 13.0MP back dual camera specs. But i also prefer to but the new Jiayu S3 mobile, and waiting for the avialable.
1.&2. - Yes
3. http://www.ejiayu.com/en/Store.html
I can not decide what version to buy , 2 or 3 Gb - does it any matter? Do not need NTFC.
Chinese people do not give a source. with a complete set of new firmware will be a problem that's for sure. exception lenovo.

With no P8 Max or Sony Ultra successor, where to go for 6'8" size Phablets?
I'm panicked. It's a dead breed!
Yeah that sucks no P9max
Lenovo Phab Plus any good?
I am a proud P8 Max user (the international variant) and I am disappointed that the P9 Max did not get released.I am also pleased that it did get released because I have only recently purchased my P8 Max and I am pretty happy with it and would not even consider getting a Samsung S7 Edge or the P9 Plus or any of the Ipants versions.
Also, as a former user of the Xperia Z Ultra, this phone is on a completely different quality level. As for the Lenovo Phab Plus, I don't think it compares to the P8 Max in terms of quality and spec so I would buy the P8 Max again with my eyes closed over the Phab Plus or X Z Ultra or even the LeTV Le Max/Pro 6.33".
The important question here is did someone lie about the P9 Max existence? Why did all the tech blogs fail to give accurate information or gave almost confirmed information? Was Oppomart the web site that claimed to have unveiled the specs at 6.2" inch display when subsequent rumours claimed 6.8" inches did it as a scam to promote their site?
Clearly, either Huawei decided at the last minute to postpone the launch to gatecrash the release of Samsung Note 6 in September or as suggested it has been discontinued as a series. Lets hope I am wrong about some of the statements I am making and that some good news will emerge but for now I think all the so called tech/mobile experts have failed miserably even at rumour level.
Do we need a successor to the P8 Max? Possibly yes in an ideal world but I strongly think the developer community priority should be to start developing quality roms for this precious handset and the legacy of this device will last many years think of it as the HTC HD2 for the Phablet lovers. This way we would not even need to hope for a better model when this one almost ticks all the boxes (except the lack of IR blaster and NFC support).
Thats all that is needed for this phone/the ultimate REAL phablet.
On a separate note, I was looking to put my P8 Max DAV-701L Titanium Grey on sale if the successor was announced but I guess I have to put that thought on hold. Lets see what the future holds.
Yeah i don't get it. Many websites had the specs for the P9max. Now they all changed it to the P9 Plus. There is a big difference between 6,8 and 5,5 inch.
Also gsmarena changed it :s
http://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_p9_max-7745.php
I still hope the P9max comes unannounced, like the P9 Lite:

I'm also looking at the new Letv Max Pro X910 6.33-Inch. The specs looks good.

Just saw the Mate 8 in the store here. Phone looks great and front finaly in black but its 6 inch So i still need to think about it.
Looks like there will be a P9 Max after all. If this supports full LTE on T-Mobile in the US you bet i'll be buying one:
http://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_p9_max_may_have_been_spotted_in_a_benchmark_rocking_69inch_screen-news-17778.php
Yeah! Saw that P9 Max 6'9" screen info!
Sadly, I'm positive there be no LTE frequencies for T-Mobile..
It's just been a Huawei guarantee!
Been using in US? HSPU? How's that been for you?

I am using it with LTE enabled on the Three and Vodafone UK networks and the reception and 4G is really good (coverage dependant). Also, as I have the international model, the overall operation is really good and smooth and call drops etc I used to experience on same networks with Samsung handsets is non existent.

There will be full US LTE support, same as the Mate 8.
Hi, I believe the next big thing is a dual screen of 6.8 inch each as one phone the same size as p8 max. There was conspiricy to cover up with NEC's dual screen phone that had combined screen area smaller than p8 max's single 6.8 screen. I have said too much and endangered my own career. You need a blue tooth keyboard one in home, one in car, one in office. And the thing will be the last laptop you ever have to buy.
I hope P9 Max release...
