Question about paid themes. - Ascend Mate 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all- I recently found a Chinese forum for the Mate 7 and there was a post in which a guy posted the .hwt files for about 20 paid themes. I downloaded a few and put them in the themes folder but none of them work. I am assuming they are valid because there are lots of "thank you" replies.
Are there model specific themes (only for UL00, tl00, etc..) or can I assume that paid themes can only be used by the person who purchased them ?
Im trying to figure out if paid themes can actually be shared ?
Cheers, LL13- :good:

Never heard of that before. You're sure that you've placed them in your HwThemes folder, that you only have ONE HwThemes folder (check your phone memory AND your sdCard) and you've done a reboot of the phone after you transferred the files?
Sent from my SM-N910H using XDA Premium HD app

Yes placed in the correct folder. I even transferred a mixture of free and "paid" themes into my themes folder and the free themes show up fine, none of the "paid" themes show up at all.
I do think there may be some kind of restriction on these paid themes in that they can't be used on other mobiles or shared.

Could you post a link to the forum please?

Sorry mate I did not see your reply !!
The themes actually do work I was just expecting them to be in a specific order but I have so many themes on my phone they were just randomly spread amongst the others. Some of them are great but the download times from the Chinese site is fekkin slow.
Here's a direct link to the files !

I have this program installed. Works fine. Fun program. Should be a link in your start menu if you installed it. I don't know why you got it from a chinese website... the creator is a member of these forums. Theres already a thread about it (link below). You should take those attachments down.... the creator specifically asks not to redistribute his software.

How does the market determine your location?

Firstly appologies if this is in the wrong place, i was torn between android forum and X10 forum, but the questions are generally about market and android OS, so posted it here.
How does the market determine your location? I was wondering if this was done by your physical/3G/GPS location or if it was done by rom version? the reason being is I finally ditched o2-uk's crappy "unknown" rollout schedules which I remember with the X1 as being non-existent and debranded my X10. The file I debranded it with was titled Generic UK so i fullishly went ahead with it, however now, several of my previously installed apps, whilst showing up fine on appbrain, do not appear in the market.
Is there any way to determine for sure which version of my firmware I am running, whether it is Generic UK or actually something else?
Thanks for any help, and again, appologies if this is in the wrong forum.

build.prop
sorry, i should have mentioned im an absolute android newb, and that means nothing to me
There is a file on your phone that is /system/build.prop
There are many things controlled here that identify your phone in different ways to the network and internal android applications including the market. You will need to search documentation for your area and how your build.prop needs to be modified for your network or try to get the build.prop out of the stock rom and have a look at what the differences are.
I'm in Canada so I don't know what settings you should use. Have a search on Google for build.prop and you may become an expert fairly quick
If you need anything else just keep asking. Ill monitor this thread and help if I can. I'm still fairly new myself
Sent from my HTC Magic using XDA App
Brilliant! thanks for the in-depth advice on build.prop. I've found the file and coppied it over to my SD card ready to view, however typically a google for "build.prop" "Generic UK" gives me one result..... this thread!! lol
Anyhow, I will do some more research and see if I can find the standard properties expected for my build.prop
Hope all this worked out for you.
I have noticed no activity in a while here so I will discontinue monitoring it unless you need something more in the next 2 days.

And for editing you need "root permission"

It also uses the location of your connection. At least, that's what they've told me before... My sister in law has a different market when she's in Miami. Different apps to acces. Here in holland, she has the same apps as I do. But, with a motorola droid from verizon.

How can I get "online" themes option ?

Hello all- If I'm not mistaken the Chinese versions and Rom's of our Ascend Mate have the option of "online" when they go into the themes app. Is there a ROM I can run on my L09 which will give me that option ? What exactly would happen if I installed a Chinese ROM on my L09, not sure if it's possible but curious. Would like to get that "online" option in my themes app.
Cheers for any help !!
LL13-
You can download themes from here
(Can't post links yet so just replace the xx with tt) hxxp://emui.huawei.com/cn/plugin.php?id=themezone&zone=theme
The first section are the latest themes and the second section is most liked themes. If you go into a theme and you see something like ¥2.00 under the screenshots it means you have to pay to download it. If it just says 下载(Download) you can download it.
Once you've got the .hwt file place it into the Hwtheme folder. Go into Themes app and it should appear at the top of the list.
If you flash the Chinese rom you should get the option to download themes from within the Themes app but you'll also get A LOT of unwanted apps that are only in Chinese. You also don't get access to the Play Store since Huawei have their own app store.

[Completed] The not-so-much-talked-about rom: Miui (themes, reverts back to default theme)

Hola guys. To all of you. Particularly the ones who are familiar with MIUI. I will just stick to the point. If you ARE familiar with miui then you must have come across those flashy themes. You must also have found out the way to bypass the infamous theme policy WSM tools and Xposed and all. But I recently started taking interest in those flashy themes. You know that once you download a theme from the default Themes app the mtz file starts getting downloaded and as soon as the downloading has finished it gets unpacked into bits (com.android.contacts, com.miui.home, icons, lock_wallpaper, locksreen and so on) and gets copied to the MIUI folder in main storage and again into data/system/theme. This is the first problem. I can't copy the whole mtz file to a safe place because it gets unpacked as soon as it has been downloaded which is basically a zip file containing several other zip files that is, the 'bits' I was talking about. Second thing. the default themes app does not recognize mtz files downloaded from the official miui themes website. It declares them as third party themes. What I did was, took some of those 'bits' and replaced some XML files inside them and some png elements and put them back into data/system/theme. But miui has a way to prevent this from happening. As soon as it detects a modified file present in data/system/theme it reverts back to the default plain theme by deleting all files from data/system/theme. My guess is it keeps checking out verifying in regular intervals the checksums that it must have generated earlier. The same thing happens if I just replace a bit in the mentioned directory with a bit from another theme. So my questions are:
1. Is there a way to preserve the mtz file downloaded from within the default Themes app as a whole mtz file?
2. Can I make changes to just the Themes app so that it would apply any mtz file?
3. Is there a way to prevent miui from continuously checking or verifying the checksums that it has generated? (just a guess but I reckon thats what it actually does) because for an hour or so after replacing or modifying the 'bits' everything works fine but the reverting process takes place in an hour or so.
Thats all folks! jk. Any help or suggestion would be really appreciated because I think a thread like this was long since needed here. And dont talk about visiting MIUI's official forums. Most of the guys there don't know half the things that is really worth discussing. Thank you guys.
note- dont want to use WSM tools nor can I find one for miui7.
note2- if I change the permissions of the folder (data/system/theme) to 444 allowing READ permissions only, the phone would just reboot without warning and continue to reboot until the permissions are changed back to normal (755).
No one?
Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist,
your device don't have a device specific forum here on XDA. Please create a thread here:

I am starting to feel MIUI is really not so popular here on XDA. Blimey after about a hundred views not a single reply, let alone helpful ones. Anyway I will leave the thread as it is just in case somebody who had the same problem and found a workaround, sees the post.
XDA Assist is for newbies, who need help finding their way oround on XDA. XDA Assist is only for pointing users into the correct section. Not a discussion forum.

i think i know now the issue
issue arises if you install it as an apk only.. unless its placed as a system app then that would fix the problems..
Please fix the credits and also avoid mirroring the zips
Hi @RealSchule , what about giving proper credit to Nathan Benis and linking to him AFH download link instead of reuploading and share?
I checked the md5 and it's the same one than the Nathan one, how can this be possible? You an anonimous hacker?
@reyscott Move it to priv-app with proper permissions and it will work. Installing as an apk don't activate the option to swipe for Google Now.
@herna i don't know who shared first or released because i didn't anywhere. i found it on a forum and shared here. i'm sorry.
please delete topic. i'm saying again i'm sorry from who shared or released first. i edited first message.
BUT BUT I got the apk from my job at Intel //sarcasm
