Out of those two, E3 is the newer one, though there is an E4 for UAE which I'm using on my phone. I like it better than E3 because the fingerprint recognition was quicker for me on E4.

Any difference in battery life?
Also wondering if there's a way to still get OTA updates when flashing a different country stock firmware

No noticeable difference to me but I've always had pretty decent battery life.
The OTA schedule you'll be on will be country dependent. So if you flash a rom from Poland, for example, you'll get the OTA when all the other Poland S6s get theirs, which will most likely be different from say, United Kingdom.

Will I though? I've read somewhere that the CSC needs to match the original phone CSC or something, otherwise you won't get OTA, not sure how it works exactly.

TBH, I'm not 100% sure.

Rec'd update to 5.0 on ATT Note 3 today

I just received an OTA update on my AT&T Note 3. I now have Android version 5.0, broadband version N900AUCUEOC1, kernel version 3.4.0-4335446. Surprised. I heard the Note 4 was getting 5.0 today, but I didn't expect it on my Note 3.
Any idea how to get the update if I'm not on my original carrier (AT&T) ? I am not sure they will push it over Cricket even though they own it!
Yeah baby

Don't ye worry, here are some XDA basics:
1. The big Android OEMs make several versions of their phones which have different bands and 3/4G frequencies. That is not the only difference. I have a Note 3 N9005, you have Note 3 N900A. They look the same, feel the same, made by the same OEM.
When you begin tinkering with their software, you should consider them as ABSOLUTELY different devices. Your variant is rooted in a different way from mine. Your phone supports different ROMs from mine.
That's why for Samsung phones (especially) there are 4 to 5 actual forums, one for the international version(s) of the phone, and one for each US carrier. And the Verizon and AT&T Samsung phones usually have locked bootloaders and are difficult to achieve even root access on them.
2. Read before you flash anything, read the WHOLE threads.
And when you think you're ready for action, read it all over again.
THEN consider doing stuff.

no 4g after flashing 23.4.a.1.232 MEA ftf

After got my phone back from repair, an older version of Android 5.1.1 was installed. So I have flashed my Xperia Z3 with a stock 5.1.1 FTF, the 23.4.a.1.232 MEA. My preferred network is set WCDMA(preferred/GSM. Before repair I normally got to see the 4G indicator. Now after repair and the mentioned flash, I don't see this anymore. Any clue?
I live in NL and have a Vodafone subscription.
what do you have it set to in the prefered network type?

It is already in my post, but OK:

then you wont get 4g, you have to set it to 4g(prefered)/wcdma/gsm, if you don't have that option you need to flash a different rom that will have it

Damn, I was afraid of that. Which one do I need then? Nordic, German?
Can you also please provide a link where I can download the stock FTF 23.4.A.1.232 which has 4g in it? Thnx!!!!!
I just checked and found it in Xperifirm. Is Nordic Combined fine? I want a 5.1.1 Unbranded and 4g of course!

Try this as well.
Open dialer and dial *#*#SERVICE#*#*
Service Settings > Network Mode > Choose LTE_ONLY and see if that works
Thanks but in the meantime I have flashed my phone with the 232 Nordic version. In there the 4g(preferred)/3g/gsm is normally available, finally. I have a fine phone again and as always happy with my Z3. And, lessons learned, never flash a MEA ftf anymore.

No updates on a G930F... am I missing something?

I'm lost and I've found a lot of apparently contradictory information on the internet but how do the updates for this phone work? Last OTA I got was on December and no Nougat nor security patches since then. Checking for updates manually don't come up with any. My security patch is from 16th of November!
It's a supposedly unlock phone that I bought in Germany but is now running on a Portuguese network. Shouldn't be an issue but people have insisted it's why it's not updating. Help me out here, I'm at a loss...

Hi
well the CSC you have did not have the upgrade yet...
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G930F/DTM/.....
And Nos (optimus ) either
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G930F/OPT/
so you either have to wait...or flash it (odin) yourself from another country/operator
Hah! No mystery or conspiracy on why I'm not getting updates then! Thank you so much Max!

No problem mate...
But remember you will only get the DTM upgrade (Germany) not from Portugal...upgrades are CSC specific

That's OK, I really just want the security patches, I don't even run my phone in Portuguese or have any sort of network specific software going on. AFAIK, NOS stopped bothering about bloatware a long time ago, their phones are locked free international versions so I would be on a similar boat if I had bought it here from them.

Do you have any idea how long HTC normally takes (e.g. on other devices) to run through the stages? Are we talking about a few days/weeks or even some months again?
If i'm asking already: does HTC support firmware updates by custom ROMs or does one have to flash stock bootloader+ROM first? Huawei had something like that and 'just' updating was never as fast as I wish it would have been
Its usually from when it starts rolling out a couple weeks till everyone gets ota... unless something goes wrong

Okay.. I this would not downgrade android version because security patch is old. Maybe it will improve on upcoming software updates or maybe not. You never know.
