I'm not sure if we have many people that are on xda using the app (yet). We are a really small company, and unlike our competition, we dont a marketing department to get our name out. Just a few developers trying to put out a good lightweight product. We love to see reviews and suggestions, so let us know what you think.
I can gave you a brief snapshot [after finishing my write up I realized it wasn't so brief]. Note: I haven't lost my phone yet so I've only been able to test it. Also, I have not tested other Droid locator apps so I have no point of reference. I've tested this on a Droid X.
Setup is a breeze. The user is asked to enter a username and secret code. The app goes through a registration process. The main screen of the app (on the phone) is organized as follows: View Website; Your SeekDroid.com Login; View Help; Current Status [Registered]; Your Secret Code; Options for Enabling remote formmating of the phone and SD card; Option for retrieving call history settings; Terms of Service; and Contact Us.
At the Seek Droid website, you're asked to enter your username and secret code. A top line menu appears, as follows: Locate; Alarm; Calls; Hide; Lock; Wipe; Help; and Log Out. Locate does just what it suggests: the webpage sends out a search command and a Google map displays the location. The Alarm options prompts you to type a message to be sent to the phone. Once the message arrives, the message pops up on the phone's screen and it beeps and will continue to beep until the screen is touched. When the screen is touched, you're taken to the slide-to-unlock screen. If your phone is secured with a password, you'll be directed to the unlock screen (pattern or keypad). Calls displays a recent call list. Hide triggers your device to hide the Seek Droid app from you list of apps (in your app drawer). Reboot is required. With Lock, you're prompted to assign a new digit lock code (digits only, not a new pattern lock). Whether your device already has a lock code or pattern lock, the new code is applied. I, for example, have a pattern lock. I changed the lock code remotely with Seek Droid and it changed it to the new code I sent. With Wipe you are given a prompt to ensure that's what you want to do. I did not test this feature. I might backup my SD card and try the wipe feature for that...I'll report the results later if I do.
I've tested the app indoors and outside, with GPS on and off. It finds it every time, usually within 3 minutes. I keep Use Wireless Networks and Enable Assisted GPS activated in the Settings screen on my device. Also, I have an app protector app that locks apps on my phone (along the lines of App Protector). I have Settings locked (requires a password to access). Seek Droid is able to change the unlock code remotely with Settings protected and unprotected.
Naturally, Seek Droid does not find my phone when it's turned off or in flight mode. Seek Droid does not provide advanced user controls like deleting individual apps, turning off/on GPS, remotely turning on your phone, etc.
Locating my phone worked with Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome. Javascript must be enabled.
One final comment: I encountered an issue with one of my computers locating my phone. I contacted Seek Droid support and received a response within 1 hour. Very helpful and responsive...kudos to them. After some troubleshooting, I discovered the problem rested with my computer. Seek Droid worked well from every other computers I have access to (rather than troubleshoot the problem with the one computer, I simply won't use that one to log in to Seek Droid in an emergency). So, my advice is to test the app from various computers so you know which one to use if and when you actually lose your phone.
I recommend the app based on my limited testing. I also recommend that you use this in conjunction with a device password or pattern lock (or an app protector app to prevent removal of Seek Droid). You simply want to set up controls so another person can't easily uninstall the app or deregister the device.
Price has now gone up to $1.99 and a bit peeved as I left it until today to get it, losing out 62p in the process
Anyway, after taking an aggggggge (months on and off) trying to configure Tasker to do this unsuccessfully I've now binned that idea and got this instead; setting it up alongside Tasker to receive a specific SMS to switch all the location finding stuff on (I have mobile and wifi switched off by default).
Just liked to echo the above comment in that it is really easy to use and the location is nailed down much better than all my previous attempts with Tasker.
Well worth it.
Wow, didn't notice that. I still hadn't purchased yet either and was going to. I really don't need it, I just wanted to play around with it. I'll just pass @ $1.99 and use the free version of lookout without wipe functionality and spend the $1.99 on a game I wanted or something.

Kicknik: After installing the app and opening for the first time, you will be prompted to enter a username and a secret code of your choosing. Then, it will go through a process of registering your device (I guess it syncs up with Seek Droid). The username and secret code are then used to login to the Seek Droid website in order to locate and lock your device remotely.
My impressions:
Bought and installed a couple days ago on my Lg Optimus One. I am very satisfied.
The program installs very easily, once installed it asks you to choose a login name and a password and to set a few options: there's a few boxes to check, like the possibility to enable or disable the remote wipe of your smartphone.
Once you are done setting up you can access the seek droid website from your phone or from any device with internet access and once you are logged in you can monitor your device position (you can remotely enable gps if gps is disabled), check the last calls that were made from your device, lock your phone or wipe it to factory settings formatting internal memory and sd (of course it asks you for confirmation on the website if you click on the wipe button).
Another useful feature that can be accessed from seek droid website is the "hide" button. Once you press it the seek droid app on your phone becomes invisible (requires reboot) thus becoming even harder to uninstall (anyway even wehn visible the program requires your password to uninstall).
I tried every feature except for the wipe one and i can say it does what it says. Position through gps is accurate and is shown on a mini google map on the seek droid site. I monitored battery consumption and it seems almost unexistent.
In conclusion i think every smart needs a security program like this, and seek droid does better than other similar apps that i had tried before.
First I was using Lookout, but I rly didn't liked that story with the chinese developer that got misunderstood with his wallpaper app because of what Lookout said. Every website was telling ppl to uninstall his app. Lookout got a lot of attention, everyone installed their app and uninstalled the poor chinese app. That wasn't nice :T
Then I went to WaveSecure, from McAfee. I think it's $20 per year.
Never worked on my phone. Tryed the support, even installed a "debug version", but couldn't make it work properly on my HTC Desire. Gave up.
I was looking for another app to replace it and then I met Seek Droid. Was very cheap, no monthly fees and such, decided to give it a try.
Dude, I'm VERY satisfied. It's easy to install, got it WORKING on 5 minutes. McAfee WaveSecure didn't worked for me, but I had no issue with Seek Droid. If I had met it before, could save the $20 I paid to get WaveSecure (I should have tested it first, but saw "McAfee" on it, guessed it works.)
Didn't noticed any abnormal battery drain, I could retrieve the latest phone calls made and received, I could lock and unlock from the website, located very fast (I was using wifi when I tested).
I think that it could report the number of the SIM card and keep the alarm message on the screen, I mean, If I just lose it, I would like to keep on screen instructions to contact me :S
Currently If you "click" on the message, it will go away.
Anyway, I'm another happy customer.
It's very cheap, everyone should give it a try!

I bought it for me (EVO) and my wife (LG Optimus S). Very reasonable price. Easy install and configuration and website control.
We also were using the new Sprint/Assurian TEP app. That has additional features--which I don't want or need (i.e., contacts backup). And, even though my wife's phone also has TEP, their app now says that the subscription has expired--which it hasn't.
I was about to cancel the TEP for her phone anyhow, and this is a nice reminder of why it's a waste for her cheap phone anyhow.
We're happy with Seekdroid and the $.99 price.

I have Seek Droid on my Droid and my wife's Droid 2. Love the application. I was wondering if there was a way to get to get Seek Droid to work on my rooted Nook Color? There can be a general location using the WiFi instead of GPS I believe.

How does one set this up? I bought it a while back and never got around to setting it up until today. I launch it on my EVO and it pops up a screen asking for a name and password, and anything I put in it says it's username or secret code is incorrect (obviously, since I've never set up a seekdroid account). I go to the website and it does the same thing. HOW DO I SET UP AN ACCOUNT IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Does this work with Google Voice? I don't have text messaging, so thats the issue I have with location/alarm apps
I want to know, what if my phone got stolen and the guy instantly decides to wipe my device clean of any trackers .. will this device still be able to track after such an activity ?
Also, what if the robber doesn't wipe the device clean, but modifies/disables the internet connection on the device ? Or switches to another SIM which does NOT have internet on it ? Will this program still be helpful in any sense ?
Free today on Amazon. Don't know if this is current version, but thought I would pass that along. Clean interface, but I haven't put it through its paces yet.

I just installed mohan's latest ROM for the skyrocket and I am getting a message that seekdroid is not working. Any tips on how to debug. Is there a log of the failure?
I like the ROM, but consider this a must have app.

Hey guys, let me just start off by saying I have spent almost 8 hours straight today trying to figure this out and dig myself out of a hole I've created for myself, that being said, I'm going to try and be as detailed as possible so you guys know EXACTLY where I am and what I've tried. This post looks long but that's because it is. It's pretty much my entire day's worth of trouble typed out. So just bare with me and see if you guys can help me out here!
I have a T-Mobile Galaxy S4 model: SGH-M919 it has Android 4.4.2. Now on to the problem: I've had this phone for almost a year now and a few months ago I rooted it. Did a simple Youtube tutorial and used Odin to do the work and everything worked out fine. A couple months down the road (yesterday), after using the phone like a teenager, downloading apps and cluttering it up it started to slow down and not run some apps. After thinking about it I decided to factory reset it. All of my contacts, photos, and videos were backed up on Google so I thought "why not?" Well, this is where $#!% hit the fan.. being rooted then factory reset, right before the phone came online it had me answer two questions about the root. Something to the effect of "Do you want to keep root? (This option is not reversible)" I thought since I wasn't using the features I originally rooted the phone for I figured nah just get rid of the root. So the phone did its T-Mobile boot up and started the Initial setup.
Everything up to to this point was fine until I wanted to log in to my Google account during the setup. Please understand that where I am I have full 4G LTE coverage and have access to a pretty fast and sturdy wifi connection. Well, when it came to the google sign in I entered my email and password and it came up with a message reading "Can't Sign in - Can't establish a reliable connection to the server" (believe me i wish that was the only issue) so after reading that, I thought I'd try with my wifi.. nope. Same thing. Since neither my 4g or wifi worked I thought it was Google's servers so I tried again this morning, same thing. (keep in mind at this point i think my phone isn't rooted anymore.) I call the t mobile store and they give me a technical support number, so I call it and I tell them i cant sign into Google. The gentleman told me he cant do anything because he can tell my phones been rooted. Only thing he suggests is to contact Google, well, the customer care number just tells you go to google.com/support and there's nothing there about my problem.
This is where I dig my hole even deeper. I tried another factory reset and up in the top left corner i still see that root text. Even the rooted android symbol pops up before the Samsung logo or t mobile. Since I saw that I thought "ohh it just didn't get unrooted all the way." I look up ways to completely remove a root and a lot of them require plugin your phone into the computer and using Odin to flash a stock firmware on to the device. I went to plug my phone into the usb port but my computer didn't recognize the usb device, having experienced this a long time ago I searched around for the latest Samsung usb drivers and I installed those. Device still isn't recognized. Let me just note before people tell me to use MTP mode or Developer tools> usb debugging or connection mode.. The only thing that happens when plugging my phone via usb is the phone starts charging and my computer makes the trumpet noise like something is plugged in. Other than that, there is NO notification of it being plugged in. The reason i stress this is because I called Samsung technical support at this point and the guy (not gentleman) treated me like a 5 year old and ran me through all of these options after i told him I already did everything he was suggesting, including downloading Samsung Kies 3 and having it install the drivers. It does not pick up the device either.. at this point I looked up ways to remove the root without the computer. I found out you can just go into the root app "SU" or something and theres a remove root option. I jumped on that opportunity and had it removed. I restarted the phone and all the problems still persist, it even still has the root text on the top left when you factory reset it again. However now, even if you factory reset and select the option "keep root," thinking it would bring back the"SU" app it does NOT.
So lets recap. I have a phone that thinks its rooted and even appears rooted to t mobile but doesn't have any of the root apps or privileges or capabilities to fix my Google log in issue (like the host file in filemanager). And I can't re-root to get that app back because none of my 3 usb ports, 3 different usb cables (one being the cord that came with the phone), or any of the ports/cables on someone else's computer will recognize the darn thing to work on that way! I have all these issues that are supposed to fix each other but I can't do any fixing because they cancel each other out too... I'm at a dead end.
In case this isn't the right forum/website/thread/post area etc.. I have this whole message saved in Microsoft Word document so I can repost it anywhere you guys might suggest better results. Any help/advice will be much appreciated.

I can see by looking and reading some of your writings and posts that yours and others time is worth alot... I am not sure on how much I could spend as I have already lost funds and had my bank accounts hacked. However I will gladly see what I can do if someone can hopfully help me...
I have been without proper internet for well over a month now.. I have changed my wireless routers out twice even added in a AP(hardware firewall)... My internet provider also suppliea optik TV and that is all ran through the same router.
At first I noticed some new programs would appear, things would be moved around some things would go missing... it was very unnoticeable unless you were paying attention.
Then the windows start up acreen would freeze for 5 minutes sometimes almost as if somethinf had froze the screen so that I wouldn't be able to see whats happening(Basically started getting worse - passwords being changed on me etc... - would lose my elevated privledges almost as if I was just a guest account)...
I even tried using CMD in dos to get my permission settings back and at first this would work but then the dos/cmd commands(whoami / ICACLS / and a few other commands would not work and say they don't exist... I also started to notice the size of my harddrive change.. I was never able to get it back to the right amount of GB. I tried to restore it many different methods as well (win7, linux, dos) nothing worked.. I then also noticed the MBR would constantly become corrupt and same with the hard drive.
So I looked into things and figured it must be the bios or cmos.. I tried to flash it and just decided I would start from scratch... However, everytime the computer restarts the old cmos/bios is back. I then also found things saved on (A: , B: and X) ... They were all write protected so I decided to pull the hard drive out. They still showed up even if I had the hard drive removed.
** X: is the boot drive as well so every time I tried to reinstall anything a bunch of extra files would get installed as well**
**Drive B had a volume named RamDrive..**
I ran some system/ tests in dos on the memory and kept getting errors but would not tell me what the problem was I finally figured out that it was a system error because the range went higher(above the 4gb that it's supposed to be)..
Now 4 laptops ruined... I just got a new laptop (win8.1) was never used and had never been turned on and after the initial startup/setup had extra software etc and now is stuck in infiniti boot loop....
Also similar stuff has happend or is happening with fax/printer, pvr, tv, ipad, iPhone, Android, wii, ps3, ps4.. dvd player, basically all media devices and anything wireless..
I have seen lots of evidence on remote connections through IOT, P2P/PHP, IPv4, IPv6, ssl, http(local group/work group) now it seems like things are communicating through a technique called air hopping or coupling. (RF, NFC, WIFI, IR, GPS/GSM, RFID, Altel Bluetooth and a few others). **I can remove the wireless card and laptops still connect**
They even got into a desktop computer that has no wirelsss or bluetooth card... and never gets plugged into the internet. Odd internet type numbers started calling my house phone also my house phone if I unplugged it etc... then powered it back up and didn't set date or time it would reset itself... The play stations would turn on and off them self... I tried reformattibg and missing a huge amount of GB.
Also, money was taken out of bank account as well.... anyone who goes to where this all is happening there cell phones get infected tooo... it seems to update tbe phones in fhe form of a push update aka broadcast signal.. Any help or input would be greatly appreciated...
another thing i noticed was files like index.dat/index.ini... desktop.ini. doubles of everything in my registry... and the fonts i couldnt change or delete... i noticed files from other devices listed on my phones and vice versa for things listed on the computer... if this isnt the right place for this i apolohgize...
also it appears as if my phone is rooted.. judging by the files and folders that are on my phone but it says not rooted. there is apps installed that i didnt put there and cant remove without being rooted.. my phones are constantly connected. factory reset doesnt work anymore... Neither does wipe cache. also constantly streaming data even if data is off and airplane mode. i keep seeng something about a 299-amtel.. redirect in any and all browsers...lots of adware as well.

10 months ago I switched from iPhone 5 to Sony Xperia Z1 Compact mobile (not rooted), with Android 4.4.4.
The phone was running great, I also tested it for developing some simple android projects. I enabled USB debugging and checked "allow installation from unknown sources".
But always keeping in mind that Android is not secure. And choosing carefully what to install. But I was also trusting CM Security as a protection.
1 month ago, I turned ON wifi and I was trying to open my email app to see if there is any new mail.
After the device connected to internet, I saw someone was scrolling controlling my screen and navigating. After he found the "CM Security" app he tried to uninstall it.
Luckily I was very concentrated at what was going on, so I clicked on the side of the screen to prevent it. He tried again to do the same thing, so I run and switched off my home wifi rooter in time.
After the internet was gone the mobile was returned behaving normally. So during connected to internet the phone was taking both commands from me and the attacker.
For my fortune I always leave OFF wifi, mobile data and Bluetooth when I don't need them.
Anyway I made a hard reset. I did it without using the Safe Mode.
The problem was solved.
I hoped that it happened because I connected to many unsecure public wifi networks during my trips out of country last month!
Since the "master/hard reset" I installed only applications very very popular and I never connected anymore to any public wifi.
Also I never enabled the USB debugging and never checked "allow installation from unknown sources".
So I was using my phone normally, until yesterday. It was protected through CM Security, AVAST, and CM Cleaner.
But here it comes again!!! I connected through the 3G internet and again the phone was remote controled.
So today I did a hard reset but this time in SAFE MODE.
Please can you suggest me what other can I do?

Hi, just a thought....maybe someone has your Google account, and that way has also access to your phone. I suggest you to create a new account, reset your phone, and use the newly created account for your phone (and keep it secret). Also, if and when you are going to use a public wifi, use also a vpn. Hope you'll solve the issue.

Hello and thank you for your time and help.
After it happened the first time and hard reseted the phone, I created a new gmail account.
So this second time it shouldn't have happened if the email was the reason.

Well, one of the "options" would be to push the installation of a "malicious" app through the "great" remote install feature in the store. The app installation would proceed without you knowing it. It's known that the Play Store is, sadly, vulnerable to malicious apps. It happened in the past and it will happen in the future. There is also ways to hack a phone through an update....some apps can gain root without even ask for it when you're updating your os. This is because the Android Package Management Service (PMS) and the way it handles the os update. It will allow a seemingly harmless malicious app to acquire significant capabilities without user consent once they upgrade to a newer version of Android. I can go on, but I suggest you to make a research by yourself. There is a lot to read on the internet and here on XDA. When you upgrade your device, a seemingly harmless app can exploit these vulnerabilities to get access of your voicemails, user credentials, call logs, notifications of other apps, Google Voice messages, etc. This security app scans your device to detect those malicious apps and guides you uninstall them once detected.
Generic security apps (e.g., Lookout, Avast!, Norton, etc.) cannot be easily tuned to detect Pileup threats.
I don't know if you updated recently your OS but it can be used in the future.

The problem was solved.
I hoped that it happened because I connected to many unsecure public wifi networks during my trips out of country last month!
Since the "master/hard reset" I installed only applications very very popular and I never connected anymore to any public wifi.
Also I never enabled the USB debugging and never checked "allow installation from unknown sources".
So I was using my phone normally, until yesterday. It was protected through CM Security, AVAST, and CM Cleaner.
But here it comes again!!! I connected through the 3G internet and again the phone was remote controled.
So today I did a hard reset but this time in SAFE MODE.
Please can you suggest me what other can I do?

I think the good members of this forum fell victims to an Apple troll. The key to his unscientific fiction is this: 10 months ago I switched from Iphone to Xperia and I knew android was insecure. He also claims he is a developer, but his phone is not rooted. 10 months ago Xperia z1c did not have kitkat on newly released units and the announcement for kitkat update was made on March 19 of last year. If he bought his phone 10 months ago, he couldn't have kitkat. Most likely the troll googled the date of the announcement and this is how it became a part of this fairytale. Also note that when he says he noticed his phone was taken over, he ran to shut off his wifi router. Why not shut off wifi on the phone, especially that he says the phone was accepting his commands? Now, suppose it is true that the phone was taken over through his e-mail account, then what's the probability of this happening again with a new account? Well, the underlying message is: people, don't switch from iphones to android, android is not secure, it is only good if you don't connect to the internet.
Mr. Cook, next time hire someone with higher IQ, so that your pitch sticks...
Tell you what, optimumpro, the bold letters gave it away for me. We're tech-Support here - so, why bold letters? Just advertisers are in the habit of using bold letters all over the place.

Hahaha, I love your way optimum....I am the first that fells, if your theory is right, but, even if I am the first, I am not going to buy this ****ty apple phone....and will keep my android....hmmm who knows...maybe blackberry?

Before I have Samsung s5 smartphone, I fight with my friend, He was loaded trojan in my mobile phone when i talk with him he knows everything than I suspected him I was thinking he loaded Trojan than I downloaded network monitoring app I saw connections from Google dns 8.8.8.8 and 4.4.4.4 ip number. I got Trojan in my mobile phone,
After I did factory reset/formatted smartphone (I don't remember I erased sd-card or not) Before I wasn't know that factory reset not able to erase everything I supposed Trojan was deleted by factory reset. After he is still know everything.
Final decision; I bought new Samsung S3 tablet, I used this tablet approximately 4 months ,When I turn back to my country, he is still know my location, he is still know browser history, and all of them. I am becomes crazy I did factory reset my S3 tablet, and I created new Google account, I switched off my location, I checked Google account history everyday;but I couldn't see any suspicious situation ,I changed all account password, After i read some text they are explaining about this issue they are saving to us "factory reset not able to erased everything"

I didn't connect to my home wi-fi, He was hacked my computer before.
I am using only 4.5 G now I checked two-There times my Ip number,
When I disconnected from internet, my ip number was changing;but only last 6 numbers changing.
I think he can find again my ip address, because my device is very rare He can find easly my device and he can attack again. Also I supposed he found me again today. I opened developer options And I put limit for background apps work I put no any operations background , but when I put this one, it is changing itself it's turning back standard limit. I think he access again
Now, I need your help !!! How can I save with him, How is he find me easly, and how can I know he is access or not I don't have any idea My knowledge very pour especially Android Please help me I don't want to buy again one more phone Google saying Android is the best secure os but Now I am not sure about security
