[Q] Bottom Half of screen is unresponsive - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I woke up today and my 4 day old Xperia Z3 was perfect. Then after being at work for two hours I checked my phone and there was a tiny single crack across the bottom right corner. I have never dropped the phone or anything so I have no idea how it could crack. Then I also noticed that the bottom half of the touch screen was completely unresponsive. And it still it. I cant pull up any of the apps on the bottom of my screen. Anyone know why this is happening?! One tiny crack shouldn't cause this! What can I do?

Looks like your device was bumped and broken even without notice, I'm afraid you'll have to replace a new touchscreen. Here are the DIY tutorial guide and part for your reference:

BTW, this is a sub-forum about Z3+, not Z3.

Help! Verizon Xperia Play screen replace

Hi Folks,
Sad news, I dropped my Play the other day and cracked the glass cover on the screen. but still the touch screen works fine. So I decided to buy glass replacement on Amazon and fix it myself. After juggling with the new screen whole night, only more problems occurred.
First is that the new screen won't boot into Android. The phone starts up and displays fine but it stayed at "Sony Ericsson" screen for a long long time without moving onto "Android" screen. I thought it was because Verizon, as a control freak, has a hardware lock on the glass (the glass does have electrical connection to the mb.) So when I swapped back the old screen, the phone worked fine.
So the first problem is that OEM glass don't seem to work on Verizon phone. Is that possible? or is there a way to bypass that?
Then the big issue occurred after trying put the new screen on for the second time. It displays only white noise like screen and seemed to stay that way.
Now I am like OMFG. The whole phone just died on me. Does anyone know what caused this messed up screen? what is the best way to fix it?
Thanks a million!

[Q] Broken screen

Hi,
A friend of mine dropped his miro and it cracked the screen. He bought another phone and gave me the broken one.
The phone works fine, it's just the cracked glass as you can see in the pics. I'm planning to use it for dev, but if i can get the screen fixed even better.

Try to turn the phone on, see if the screen still shows, behind the cracked screen, check if there are no dead pixels, if not, than you can use that part to replace indeed. But you will need to warm the screen, else it won't come loose.

The screen shows fine, and I didnt see any dead pixels. Do you have any link showing how to warm it properly?
Thank you
Honestly, no, I had a broken screen before on my Tipo but I brought it to some Service point, not an official Sony one. But I know you COULD use a hairdryer, and you should mostly warm the edges. Not TOO warm though because that can cause screen damage also.
It's kinda tricky to find out how. And theres no dissamble video or instructions for these phones yet... so...
EDIT: I could figure it would look something like this:

But I'm not sure. You'll probably also need Torx screwdrivers.
Edit 2:
Theres some guides now, but it doesn't show anything about the screen itself.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36OQfj3eFcw for Miro
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nz79YQukiyE for Tipo Dual, (I think Tipo Single is 97% the same).
Here how to replace lcd and touch... anyway replace touch also is very easy just heat some and you can easy remove.
Dont forget take tape black from older digitizer and put in new one because when you press touch makes like water bubble.

[Q] Dropped my OPO, now a section of the touchscreen is unresponsive

Since I have had the OPO I have had intermittent issues with the touchscreen requiring reboot to solve. Since upgrading to CM12 the issues seem to have largely subsided but last night I dropped the handset from about 18 inches off the ground. The top left corner of the screen shows a bit of cracking on the glass and now I notice that there is an area in about 1/3 of the touchscreen that is unresponsive. The lower and upper parts of the screen work but now there are some apps and functions I cannot use with the touchscreen and I notice I have having a lot of trouble with the pattern unlock screen as well.
My question is whether the entire digitizer screen will need to be replaced or if there is a possibility that the ribbon connectors or some other connection is possibly causing this issue. I have attached here a pic of the physical damage and a screencast of multitouch test that I ran to demonstrate the area affected. It seems to start around y0=400 and continue to y0=1100 or so which is quite frustrating. In the video I am just running my finger up and down the screen and also across diagonally to demonstrate the problem areas.
Apparently I cannot post Youtube links since I am a new member but the video is on there posted under
"OPO touch screen issues after drop"
Anyone with insight would be much appreciated as I certainly would not like to have to tear this phone down and replace the screen assembly.
I doubt it's a ribbon cable, otherwise your whole screen would be dodgy. I think you need a new digitizer + LCD.
Here's a link for the video you are trying to link to.

Hope someone here has some good news for you.

Strange problem with touchscreen

Hello, guys.
Recently, I dropped my M2 on the street, resulting in cracked touchscreen and lcd. Replaced both the touch and the lcd, everything seemed normal until I noticed that the middle part of the touch (a line going from the left to the right, around 1cm height) doesn't work, it just doesn't respond. Later, I got another new touchscreen and same story - same part of the screen doesn't work.
Maybe we have some kind of defect touch screens here in Bulgarian stores? Though I bought the two touches from two seperate stores. Or it's possible that it's something with the lcd? Even though it works normally, no strange behavior, no black spots, scratches or anything. Or could it be a software problem? Using Android 5.0.
Thanks in advance.
More likely to be motherboard problem if it's the same with 2 different screens being installed
Thanks for your answer.
One thing I forgot to mention - when testing the screen in Sony's Sketch app or in the service menu, if I run my finger from the top to the bottom, or the opposite way quickly, sometimes, the lines my finger makes don't get cut, i.e. it's like the screen is functioning properly, with no dead spots. What does this mean?
According to Sony support, it could be a compatibility issue between the phone/touchscreen/LCD, what do you think?

[Completed] Moto X Play Cracked Screen and a Broken LCD

About six months ago I got a Motorola X Play and have loved it ever since. Although a couple days ago there was an incident in which my phone dropped out of my pocket and as a result my screen is smashed and my LCD has a crack going across the middle of my phone. On the left side of the LCD my touch screen no longer works, making it impossible to log into my phone as the password needs the left side. I just need to know approximately how much it will be to fix, if it is fixable, and if it is even worth fixing or I should just get a new phone. Thanks!

Hello,
This forum is for newbies finding their way around XDA Developers, it isn't a discussion section.
Also you may visit nearest service station and get info on cost of the screen.
