[Completed] [Q] Howto recover backed up data after unrooting? - XDA Assist

So I had my phone rooted and I backed up all my stuff in recovery. After I finished unrooting I realized that that probably wasn't the smartest idea since I don't have recovery anymore, and there's no way for me to restore it now. Is there any way to save my lost files? I had a TON of photos I really wish I still had.

Hi,
Thanks for using XDA Assist just reroot and backup everything on separate place PC or anywere then unroot it else there is no other way
Good Luck!

Does Nandroid Work with Inspire 4G?

Hi,
I'm sorry for the noob question, but I want to be very safe. I was previously an iPhone user, and the challenge I'm facing with Android is that there are so many versions, and it's hard to find a device specific answer.
I want to start messing with system files, and as far as I could find, Nandroid seems to be the easiest solution for backup. But, its thread is rather outdated. So, I don't know if it's safe to use it with Inspire 4G.
If not, I would love to know the best and easiest way to make a nand backup with Inspire 4G.
Thank you so much in advance.

Yes you can do nandroid backups, but the catch-22 is you need to have root first. After you've performed root, install ROM Manager, flash clockwork mod recovery and then you can make full nandroid backups through cwm. There's a stock RUU floating around as well that will take you back to stock if you run into too much trouble though
Thank you. You are very kind (I see you helped me in other posts too). I am installing ROM manager as I type this. Rooting wasn't as hard even though I was spoiled with one touch GUI from my iPhone days lol.

[Q] Full BACKUP and Restore (unvoid warranty)

Hi,
I want to perform a full backup. I saw a guide but I need to install a recovery image. But to do this, I void the warranty.
It is possible to perform a full backup without this process? Or install a recovery image, and somehow uninstall this recovery image?
I can't find the right answer for me, I search a bit...
What I want is perform a full backup, backup the full state of the phone, so if I have a problem and have to use the warranty, I wont have any problems. I'm afraid that if I install a recovery image I will void the warranty and I will unable to revert this change.
My objective with this is that I don't have to worry about installing a custom ROM and tweak my Android and mess it up. With a full backup I just can restore everything, just like when I bought it (even the recovery part).
Thanks for any help you can give me.
I too want to know...

I think it is good to have this answer...
and if there is a way to do this, please, post a tutorial.
I got my first android 2 weeks ago... I don't know how to do this things and have this answers...
I would be very much appreciated for anyone can help me (and others) in this topic
thanks!
Anyone? A little help please...

[Q] Question before rooting

I'm getting ready to root my phone, but one thing I haven't been able to figure out is what is the best way to make an image of my stock rom on the AT&T Nexus S before using a tool that's going to delete all my data?
I would really like to make a full system image so that if anything goes wrong, I can flash it back to where it is before the root takes place. Is this possible? Is there a guide out there that I just haven't seen?
Thanks

i hate saying this, but its true. this should go into the Q&A section, not into development. anyways, i think that you need root for that. but if there is a way, i think that it would be through adb.
Not a problem, if a mod can move it, that'd be great. I thought that a backup before making modifications would fall under the realm of development. After all, without a good backup, I wouldn't want to make too many changes

what you want is to perform a nandroid backup, and you can do that through a custom recovery. you either need to unlock your bootloader for that(which wipes your phone and sd storage) or you can search how to root without unlocking the bootloader, root it, and use rom manager to flash a recovery/perform a nandroid backup without wiping but getting root.
Just use my back up pro to back up whatever that app will allow. Then copy over all your SDCard contents to your computer....Google takes care of contacts and apps....

You can use titanium backup and nandriod to backup your data. You will get updates, but once you updated software from HTC (os) your device will be uprooted and you need to root again .
Post your questions in HTC one X forum to get more response.

forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1644167 is the guide to rooting your One X. Also, briefmobile.com/how-to-install-cwm-recovery-on-htc-one-x-att shows you how to place CWM on your phone, and you can do quite a bit from there, including installing custom ROMs without messing up your binary counter, full backups of EVERYTHING, and use Titanium Backup can be used to back up data as well, restorable upon re-installation of Titanium Backup.

I'm trying to recover deleted texts on my HTC and the program I was using said I needed to root the phone but then I hear that will wipe out data making it hard to recover. Help!!! Will that Titanium avoid that? Is it free? This has already cost me almost 200 trying to get messages off phone.

What is the best method or procedure to backup a phone?

I don't know if this is a dumb question guys but i just want to know what is the best method or procedure to backup a phone? I mean if ever i may factory reset my phone and i want to backup my apps, phone settings, pictures, videos, files etc with just a single click or two, somewhat like that. Then restore everything with just a single click also. Thanks
A NANDroid Backup what requires Android is got rooted and ADB is successfully installed is the best method, IMO.
