I have used ping pong root and my knox counter hasn't been tripped. Do you think if I installed BBS it will trip it? It has to install as a system app and I suspect that knox may see that and the flag will go off. Anyone know?
It shouldn't.
It doesn't. I've tried itit.
Didn't trip it for me on ATT version.
Questions belong in Q&A, not General.
Thank you.
Just curious as to why you think bbs would trip knox?

Hi guys! I just got the samsung s4 i9506 yesterday. As much as i like the phone and everything it came with, i rooted it using towelroot. Everything was fine and dandy, until i decided to update it using kies. It now runs 4.4.2 kitkat. This is really bad as towelroot won't work. Only way i figured to root it is by tripping KNOX. Someone please help me with a few questions please
What might happen if i trip KNOX?
What are the consequences?
What effects might it have on my phone?
Will I be able to update my phone to later firmware?
Will I be able to install custom roms?
What are the differences of having tripped KNOX?
FYI, I don't think i'll be using KNOX...EVER
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!thank you
*Bump*
someone?
Hello.
I have a E5 using Stock ROM with latest update running 4.4.4 KitKat.
I wasn't thinking about rooting it but I need a few changes that requires permissions.
I read about CF autoroot etc. but none worked using exploits (Updated Firmware )
I'm not really into flashing using Odin, I don't want an entry in my Knox...
Is there anyway I can root my device without adding an entry to my knox?
Thanks.
(PS: XDA needs A and E series subforums!)
More data on attach.
Still waiting for an answer ...
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. You generally can't modify Samsung devices without tripping Knox unfortunately, so you have a difficult choice to make.
Hello!
So, is there a way to backup/reset Knox?
Is "Triangle Away" used to reset Knox?
Thanks!

You can read about Triangle Away here
[2014.01.15][ROOT] TriangleAway v3.26
But your device isn't on the list of supported devices.

Is there a way for me to help developer to develop a round about for my device? Or do i just have to wait?

You could try contacting the developer and asking, if you're willing for your phone to be a guinea pig.

Hi.
What is the best and easiest way to root + custom recovery.
I was fine doing it with my previous galaxy devices but seem to be a bit harder this time lol
Seems more complicated.
I'm running Android 5.1.1
Thanks in advance.
There are several threads about rooting 5.1.1 in this section and general section. Try searching for them!
try searching lol. im not the kind of person to just ask for somthing without searching.
its just a bit confusing as to which one to use.
As you are using 5.1.1:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/galaxy-s6-root-5-1-1-variants-t3147074
trips knox, no way without tripping it.
btw., one of the first threads in the general section

Actually, there is a way to do it without tripping Knox. I'm on 5.1.1 running xtrestolite rom and unikernel and my Knox is still intact.
Search the forum for the engineering bootloader for your phone.
The only downside is that you lose fingerprint functionality until you restore it all to stock.
Thank you I'll have a look now. Don't use finger print anyways. ☺

Here's the thread. Really should be made more visible in the regular S6 forum as well - it seems unbeknownst to many in here that it works on 920F too.

Hello, I deleted a video and I would like to recover it, it seems most android recovery apps require a rooted phone. I don't plant to install any custom roms or recoveries, or kernels, I just want to be able to retrive my deleted files.
Any rooting method for the S6 Edge G920i variant?
Thank you
Of course no one would reply

Unfortunately it seems you haven't noticed the ridiculous number of threads and posts here on XDA that explain, in no uncertain terms, that you cannot gain root access on a Galaxy S6 running Lollipop 5.1.1 without tripping your Knox counter. Yes, your warranty will be voided, but when you have a heap of support here on XDA your issues can often be solved without the need to return the device to the retailer for repair.
This thread explains about the rooting process, and offers one of the best solutions available for the G920I...

My apologies on behalf of other peeps here that may have ignored your cries for help; it's just that we get so many n00bs asking 'how do I root my phone without tripping Knox?' before they use their heads and research the subject, it's gotten quite aggravating...
Hope you get sorted out, and for further details, try reading my Helper Posts...
Hey guys
So I have been reading on knox and how it trips warranty.. I am ok with that..
But there is probably only couple of ROM available for EXYNOS ? It is worth rooting? some other forums was reading about instability of bootloaders plaguing the custom rom phones with issues?

I have the same question at all
There are loads of ROMs available for Exynos S7
Anything that relies on KNOX will not run after tripping (If you are on Nougat) such as S.Health, Android/Samsung Pay etc etc
Possible workarounds on the forum to get them working again, plenty of info around, read some threads

Thanks.. is there a thread or list of what exactly doesn't work after rooting and will never work? My concern is that if I root it and want to sell it in future (even after restore) buyer won't be able to use Samsung Pay / Health etc..

SHealth needs a build.prop tweak to work. Samsung Pass, Knox containers and Samsung Pay will need a custom ROM to work again. You shouldn't sell the device without telling the buyer it is Knox tripped and what that involves. Android Pay will still work as tripping Knox doesn't trigger SafetyNet
I rooted my S7 the day I purchased it, haven't gotten any issues ever since. ROOT is a worthy trade-off for voiding KNOX in my opinion.
